Par 3 16th 200yds 4 iron ⛳ Photo submitted by MullarkeyTony on 04/21/2019
Unfriendly members and slow play
Played here just after the C19 lockdown ended. Course and greens were ok.
The problem with this course is the slow play. The majority of members are unfriendly and will make you feel like a visitor to 'their' course.
Pro shop is decent and well stocked which is a bonus.
Nice course but slow pace
Stuck behind a three ball that hadnt booked a tee time and snook in front of us. Course didnt have control on what groups were teing off.. Positions of tee boxes / greens promote slow play. General course conditions were good, but some ropey greens where they had been damaged by diesel apparently.
Great day
Good course if not a few dodgy holes firing over greens but apart from that really enjoy played this course, facility’s and staff too notch, thanks again and we will be back
High winds and rain
Course should have been closed today in my opinion. 40kph winds and driving rain made the otherwise great course unplayable. Battled through 9 holes and left absolutely soaking wet right thorough even though wearing full waterproofs in June! I know the weather can't be controlled but had no choice but to play or lose my money. Seen a 3 ball in front of me leave after the 6th hole so it wasn't just me who had the same thoughts. Will still play Boldon again cos ita a great course, but only in better weather.
Boldon golf
A challenging course, but a good course to play on.
Told we could only use an iron from 1st tee got a par so maybe should have used it on every hole
Greenkeeper followed us on to the first 6 tee boxes uncanny timing. Was alarmed at the state of a lot of greens but other reviews say they had been vandilised which i suppose just shows up the area.
Some interesting holes but i found a lot of the areas of fairways and just around to be bare and difficult to play off, the sand in the bunkers is of poor quality. We paid £25 each. One of the holes i think the 8th hole is not clearly marked where the second part of the fairway is so much as we played to the wrong/fairway.This could be a good course if it was maintained better but i think there are too many cross over holes, bare lies and tees close to greens to consider it as an enjoyable option to play.I would say that the decent parts of the greens were very quick and they did have breaks and slopes.
Fair
Greens very poor condition surprised after long break
Poor
Course is in really poor condition. Certainly not worth more than 15 quid a man let alone 22 we paid. Greens are shocking. Pace of play terrible, with assumed members not allowing 2 balls through past 4 balls despite the 2 ball being younger and bigger hitters ! Asked to play through and was declined, more out of spite than anything else !!
Wouldnt return or suggest a visit to others which is a shame.
Definitely be back
Course was in great condition. Greens had recently been vandalised however the green keepers have done an amazing job in getting them to decent playing condition. Our group found all members to be extremely welcoming considering we went there on the third day of golf courses reopening. Will be back in a couple of weeks for sure and hopefully can enjoy a drink after golf as well
Enjoyed it even though the course was frozen.
Decided to grab one last round in 2020, having played once before in heavy rain was good to play in the dry.
But due to the cold weather the whole course was frozen instead.
All winter tees and greens but it was still a great day out.
A great course that I’m looking forward to returning to in the warmer weather.
Frozen solid but taking visitors
Had my last round of 2020 here as they were open and still taking visitors. Nice course but all on temporary greens so played very short with an excellent pace of play with only 2 balls out. Will play again in summer for a more complete experience.
Great, well kept course!
An excellent kept course with some challenging dog leg holes and sloping greens. Gentleman in the shop was helpful in terms of buggy hire and was happy to explain the covid restrictions. The fairways were in great nick and credit must go to the greens keepers for the whole condition of the course. I enjoyed my round and will certainly be returning.
