Excellent first round here
Great course, with a real mix of layouts.
First time round this course and will be back.
Found the front 9 easier going than the back 9.
A hilly walk but great view into Manchester on one of the back holes.
Greens in great condition considering recent weather. Definitely worth a visit
Goog course with some challenging holes.
Considerng the amount of rain lately the course was in good condition. The greens were good. If you are an older player like myself you might want to consider hiring a buggy. There are a few inclines that may mean you might struggle. Depends on your fittness. Overall very enjoyable course to play. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
Excellent course
I have played on this course 5 times now and I am never disappointed. The course layout is great, as are the greens. The staff are very friendly and are always willing to accommodate your needs. I have decided to purchase a 12 month membership and I am looking forward to playing this course several times a month.
Thoroughly enjoyable
First time playing this course the lady in the shop was very helpful, the course was in good condition and I thought the greens were excellent.
Liked the course layout not overly long but still challenging with a good variety of holes
Excellent
Excellent course very well maintained and tees well sign posted. Hard work on the legs, quite hilly.
Brookdale 17/07/19
Played with my Wife today who is a beginner , I've played here before some 17+ years ago and also previously been a member.
We had mixed conditions from warm to a bit windy and wet later in the round and back to calm and dry again by the end.
The course can be quite hard walking and quite punishing with offline shots , the condition of the course was excellent , Greens and Fairways were very good indeed and alot of drainage work has been done since I previously played there and the lower holes around the Medlock were much better than "Back in the day" as it were.
The Staff were friendly and helpful in the ProShop and Members we spoke to were courteous and polite although it was reasonably quiet.
As has been mentioned previously by other reviews , the layout can be somewhat confusing if you haven't played here before and could probably do with a little better signage although I'd suggest picking up the course layout leaflet which is next to the scorecards in the ProShop which will cure any problems there.
My wife being a new player did find a few holes really challenging especially the ones where it is required to have a reasonable carry over water but still really enjoyed it and said she'd like to go back when she's improved a bit more , she was especially pleased with herself when she birded the 7th Hole which is a lovely downhill 160yd Par 3.
I shot 84 with a bit of a mixed round but I'm still getting back into Golf again teaching my Wife to play.
The variety of holes here is fantastic from wide open drives to narrow tee shots requiring a fade or draw and some utterly lovely Par 3's.
Great course shocking round
Amazing course, though quite short the holes are a challenge with a few blind holes, and some beautiful but hard par 3. Would love to play again
Lovely course
I really like this course, the staff are always friendly and helpful and the course has a lot of interesting and deceptive holes,. Rolled quite a few long approaches onto the green from what I thought were bad shots. There are a lot of dog legs with trees so your club selection needs to be spot on to score well. I would recommend to anyone.
Tricky course
Played on a Monday afternoon with not a soul on the course.
The course is in fantastic condition especially the greens.
Not a long course but very tricky.... would suit the thinking golfer rather than the big hitters.
Quite hilly in places so wouldn’t suit anyone with a pacemaker .
Enjoyable afternoon of golf.
Idiot
For some unknown reason there was an individual (grown man) walking around the gold course (4.30pm) who would from a distance hit golf balls in our direction and then run off. This occurred on Holes 1 and 2. Plus between holes 1 to 9 found numerous golf balls on the fair ways and greens, which I doubt very much were lost by golfers playing the course ahead of us!!
At hole 2, reported this individual at the Golf Shop and they rightfully went to investigate. They came across the individual but again he ran off. Who ever this person was clearly out to cause injury and definately has a few 'screws' loose.
Because of the above incident, I personally won't be playing this course again nor recommending it to friends or work colleagues.
A course of great water features
The course is a very good challenge with lovely features, especially the river medlock running through the course. The greens and fairways are in great condition and the rough is only long in areas not to close to the fairway. The lower section of the course by the river has a good selection of holes, many playing over the river. Overall the best part of the course is the Par 3's with great elevation changes and shots over water.
where am I going !!
A really stunning course with some very challenging holes. All the par threes are well protected and potential card wreckers. Water comes into play on a fair few holes. It's nice that there are a range of length to the par fours with some true monsters and some risk reward holes where the right line in is key over distance.
The first hole is a brutal hole requiring the ability to shape the ball up and around a large oak tree the the middle of the fairway !! the only flat lie is to be on the right side of fairway , go left and you face a second shot with the ball two feet above you !!
The final three holes are a real treat with 16 a short par 4 with trouble all around, 17 a superb par three that requires two extra clubs to find the green safely . Then you have 18 a short par four which needs a solid fade around the slight dog leg, again a drive of 210 yards leaves a wedge to a severely elevated green, club up.
I would say the stumbling weak point and it's easy to fix is the lack of signs telling you where the next hole is . I ended up on the tenth after the first hole and on a couple of occasions got lost.
Will be playing again, as a top course !!
Good variety
Course is always well maintained, greens are good. Layout of the course gives plenty of variety and some challenging holes. Staff are lovely and great value for money in Club house
Good course
Good picturesque course to play with challenging greens. Some Fairways were boggy in places due to rain earlier in the day. Back 9 is hilly though.
