The greens were dreadful, weeds on the greens and inconsistent cutting, you couldn't put I will never play here again
Course with potential
Course with loads of potential with a bit of investment and work. Great layout and sevral challenging holes. A good variation of length of holes. Fairways good and wide on many holes. Watch out for the gorse bushes!!! Greens in good condition overall but just a little slow and need to be a bit tighter cut. Addition of a map on the scorecard or the hole boards would be useful for visitors
Brilliant Course
First time playing the course as I was working locally but not from the area and I wasn’t disappointed. Honestly one of the best laid out courses I’ve played in a while, really enjoyed myself. Tee boxes and fairways were in good condition and greens looked immaculate. My only negative was that the greens were slightly spongey and slow but that’s the only fault I could find. Highly recommended and will definitely play again when in the area.
High potential.
This course has potential to be one of the best in the area. After a difficult year it was good to see the greens back to a good standard. Good fairways but tee boxes could do with some work. Look forward to playing here again more regularly.
Not many par 73s around. As long as your precious and just want good value on a reasonable course. Try it!!
I booked here (solo) with a little trepidation as the previous reviews aren’t great. However I had fun and enjoyed playing the links like course. Yes there are places where a sharper mower might have improved things and the greens are definitely two paced. I’m guessing a lot of thatch build up holding moisture in the lows on the greens and bare where not. So often quick start to a putt from the brown stuff which rapidly slows on the much slower green stuff where they put the pins. Only two holes gave me any real trouble. 7th is a bit of a blind tee shot and hooking left as I did is not good. The short 17th was into wind and needed +2 clubs! Overall not that difficult a course. I managed sub par net and well worth the £20 I paid. Not too many par 73s around with crse rating 70.7 off yellow and slope 120. Roasting hot day and very dry course. Needs the rain that’s forecasted for the rest of this week.
COURSE IMPROVING
Last time I played here in August 2020 the greens were in a real state through salt pollution in the water. That seems to have been fixed though we did find the greens a bit springy which slowed the ball unexpectedly. The biggest surprise on checking in was that we were not told they had switched the front and back nines, meaning we headed out to what used to be the 1st, and found a couple of holes later we were playing the back nine. No real issues but you'd think someone would let you know.
Fantastic course
I have been twice now and enjoyed my self both times I can't see me going anywhere else now.
I loved it that much I am going to enquire as to becoming a member
Do not pay and play!!
Been a member of this club for the last 2 years we have been had over by the club big time no refunds unless you join again and dont believe what tgey say about salt its rubbish!!! The greens have not been playable for a year now and now only 25 percent playable so if i was you i would avoid at all cost and go else where and save the disappointment.
As for the 9 hole par 3 well thats even worse!!
Terrible.
I barely ever leave reviews, but I felt like I’ve got to warn people what they’re in for...
It was well noted that the club had problems with their greens over the winter, which is fair enough, it was noted on here and was unfortunate.
Yes, they shouldn’t have charged full price but it was our choice if we wanted to pay.
Well now the greens are apparently fixed and their is no notice of anything wrong...
I can confirm they are awful, you can’t putt or chip. They are bobbly and just not playable.
I had to pay full price for the displeasure as well.
What a shame how the club is falling away.
Even with the greens being terrible at the moment I still think you get good value for money at this course. I’m sure when we get some rain the greens will get back to their best very soon.
Improvements still required.
All greens remain poor. Impossible to putt. Hard to put tee pegs in as tee boxes are barren and dry.
On a positive note there are less holes in the car park.
Some nice holes
The greens are still recovering from a salt water irrigation issue last year so are pretty poor and the course is a bit scruffy, but there are some really nice holes, I like it and with a bit more work/care it cojld be really good.
No facilities
Disgusted that there were no toilet facilities. All toilets out of service. Come on sort it out. There are many players rely on services like these without the need for embarrassment having to explain why!
£20 is too much for this course
Poor layout, greens out of use, slow play, and artificial T Boxes, but still charging £20 ...very disappointed
Arrived to find out that they were playing preferred greens due to an salt water issue they had with the main greens. Was informed I should have received a pop up box online when booking informing me of this. Sadly this was not the case and travelled 45 miles to then be told.this. I think the course green fee should have been reduced to reflect this but because I had already paid online this would have not been possible. Apart from this the fairways on the back nine where not that great either. Sadly a fairly disappointing round with a large number of the holes shortened in length due to the issues taking away the overall experience and reduced the competitive enjoyment.
