Pristinely presented course despite drought.
I have to say that credit must go to the greens staff for the fact that the course was in excellent condition despite the lack of rain for approx 9 weeks. Lovely green fairways, tee boxes spot on and the greens, true, slick and consistent.
The course has that wonderful quality of rewarding accuracy whilst punishing poor shots, and always making you think, the par 5 16th being a classic example.
As always here the staff are friendly and helpful, plus all the necessary social distancing precautions and instructions were well presented.
At £28 for a round it’s not cheap, but nevertheless money well spent.
Some temporary greens !
Upon arrival we were advised all temporary greens and tees. Disappointing as the site said only some temporary greens, we would not have booked if known in advance. We have played here before and will again but this was a poor experience. Clubhouse was warm and friendly so we enjoyed that, but the information upon arrival was not the best.
Great course with great features
Really enjoyed playing this great course.
The greens were a little slower) longer than my local course but at this time of year everyone is doing work on the greens.
I will definitely be back to play again, would recommend.
Not Great
This course is really not very special. Very flat and not in great condition (could be down to time off year). The greens were long and patchy and the fairways not been cut so also long and patchy. Very disappointed after reading all the other reviews.
You must visit Carus Green
What a course! You must visit Carus Green. Forgiving fairways, consistent greens, wonderful views. Loads of good stuff in the pro shop at affordable
Prices. Great covered driving range with automatic tees and waiting area with coffee. And if the clubhouse has won design awards. A great balcony to enjoy a drink and heckle your friends on the 18th green when they miss their birdie putt. Do it now!
Excellent
Despite no rain for 4 weeks the course played very well. Many different hole type which made it very interesting. Staff in all areas of this facility were excellent and we were made to fell very welcome. No negatives at all so much so, booked again for two days time.
A great days golf
We had a 10.40am tee off and arrived at approximately 10 am. We checked in and were made to feel very welcome. We decided to warm up on the driving range which was in very good condition. We decided to hire a buggy as it was a very warm and humid day which proved to be a very good idea and definately enhanced our round.
The course considering the hot and dry weather we have been experiencing was in excellent condition and proved to be challenging but fair. The pace of play was excellent and it was a really enjoyable round if golf.
After our round we had a drink and some food in the clubhouse which was very tasty and reasonably priced.
Would definately reccommend and if we return to the area will definately play again.
Great course
Thoroughly enjoyed playing Carus Green golf course. Great course. Fantastic food and amazing staff. Really friendly family atmosphere. Thanks for a great day.
Decent track surrounded by excellent facilities

All in well worth a visit
Great course and facilities
Played here having looked for a good deal in the Lakes for a Saturday afternoon. With shot deal , worked out only £16 for the round.pro shop is well equipped , excellent changing rooms and great driving range. There had been a lot of rain down in the previous week , so some areas were a little soggy , but generally fairways and greens were fine , albeit a little slow due to the amount of rain that had been down . The course is nicely laid out with a few par 3s (5 from memory?) and not too scary from the tee box. Managed 33 points playing off 23, so really please considering I hadn’t played here before.
I followed a four ball , but wasn’t held up too much which is great for your enjoyment of the round.
I would certainly play there again if in that part of the world , but would want drier weather before hand.
Nicely Kept Course
I'd not played here before. The course itself is a parkland course near to a river with a few lakes and ponds scattered along some of the fairways. It's very flat so it's not hard work to walk around.
Some of the par 4's are on the short side meaning a good drive leaves you with a short pitch onto the green. Despite a fairly wet summer the course was in good condition, but the greens had recently been sanded etc so were not at their best.
The staff were friendly and the clubhouse is one of the nicest that I have ever been into.
I would return for a game.
Great Course
Nicely laid out course! Very well maintained! Easyish although did get caught out by the water a couple of times. Nice and flat!
Will certainly look to play again
Ultimate Lake District Golf Destination!
We played the course with a member, it was in immaculate condition! The greens were reasonably quick and very true! The whole course looks picture postcard standard! The facilities are eye watering! The shop stocks all the latest brands at extremely reasonable prices, if they haven't got it then they offer to get it for you. The Clubhouse needs no introduction, it is amazing! The balcony overlooking the 18th green is the best 19th hole I've eaten/drank at. The food is delicious and reasonably priced, the staff are lovely and attentive. This place is an overall must visit for anyone visiting the Lakes and wanting a game of golf.
Slow play
Played here yesterday(10th)and the pace was abysmal! teed off at 12.50, reached the 9th tee at 14.40 to be greeted by the 3 ladies that had been holding me up (single player) eating their sandwiches! they informed me that they wouldn't be letting me thru as their husbands were in front of them.I stopped for a drink after playing holes2,3,4 again and the18th, in my time in the bar I seen 4 more people finishing their round early.
Lovely course, have played here a few times now and pace of play has not been an issue,5 people finishing their round early? that is an issue that has to be addressed
Interesting Course with excellent scenary
Enjoyed a quite afternoon of golf and a hearty melal. Facilities are excellent from the club house, the driving range and finally the practice putting greens and course. This is a great venue to relax and enjoy golf, but don't be shy with the 18th tee shot, what a hole to finish with.
Fantastic setting
Early tee off so virtually had course to ourselves. Wonderful setting and course is in fantastic condition. Brilliant sunshine ..., what more can you ask for. We will be back.
Good course plenty of hazards
Played the course and enjoyed it!! Plenty of hazards and challenging greens
Many thanks for your recent comments. We just felt it necessary to comment that the people you saw walking in were part of a Matchplay competition with a neighbouring Club, so once a result has been reached the people would usually walk off the course. We will take your other comments on board, pausing during a round to eat sandwiches wouldn't be encouraged.
