'Knee Handicap'
I have recently began golfing again after a 12 year absence due to work restrictions making it difficult to play.
It was my first time playing Darlington Golf Club and I was not disappointed. It is a relatively flat course which was the main reason for me choosing it, as I need a right knee replacement.
I was pleasantly surprised with the course layout and it's condition. The greens were quick and the fairways wide and forgiving which made the round more enjoyable for a golfer of mid - high handicapper like myself.
Unfortunately all the buggies had been taken so I walked the course and am still hobbling 3 days later haha! but it is worth the pain to have the odd game again.
We hit a few balls at the range beforehand...about £1.50 for 25 balls I think. We didn't try the clubhouse so can't comment. The pro shop is small but has the essentials and our welcome was just as warm as the weather that day.
All in all I will definitely be returning, but only with a buggy next time haha!
I would have no problem in recommending it others.
Ps. The only thing I would highlight is that we did find a few people walking their dogs across the course unleashed at certain points, however it did not spoil our day.

Unfortunately all the greens had been worked so we had to play with temporary greens a feature that was not detailed on the app but I was pleased when the pro gave us a free return round
Lovely course
This was a lovely course. Great layout and well maintained. Very picturesque, with some very memorable holes. I'll definitely play it again.
Nice course
Nice course with a decent layout. Back 9 is fun. Greens in great condition especially with the rain.
Boggy in patches but not to bad. Great value.
wheres the grass?
not sure if this place is shutting down? The greens were truly awful, bald patches, uneven growth and cutting. Layout was actually interesting however the condition was so poor, it hardly resembled a golf course.
Friendly enough staff however you can tell they are flogging a dead horse.
Nice paced round of golf
Bright and sunny with a chilly wind sometimes gusting strongly straight at you down the fairway leaving well struck drives landing short. The course was quite boggy in places and some rather shoddy temporary tees had to be used.
It's a well laid out course with some challenging par 5's and two very long par 3's.
Staff were welcoming on arrival and on departure. Did not use facilities so cannot comment on those on this visit.

Nice medium length course , friendly holes , few meaningful hazards
Beginners beware!
Pace of play was fast as your pushed along by those behind which doesn't leave much time for finding balls in the 2nd cut which is fairly deep and very unforgiving. Long drives mixed up with some Par 3 irons mixes the play up. Look to stick to quiet periods unless your average or better.
Range was £1.50 for 20 balls to warm up with a chipping and putting green as a bonus. Bar was cheap for bottled ciders after a warm morning and was a refreshing 19th.
Slow golf
What a pity that the pace of play round this lovely course was painfully slow. The people using the course had no concept of course etiquette.
The layout is great, I really enjoyed the course and it certainly suited my game.
Good course but first green shared with 9 th so holds up pace of play.
Very nice layout apart from that.
After some overnight and early rain the course was still in great playing condition.
The last 7 holes are particularly nice
Winter round
A winter round on a bright day. Course is in good condition for the time of year, a little heavy/muddy in parts. Fairways were good but a little spring grass growth will help. Good ground keeping evident and ongoing with most leaves removed which is a blessing at this time of year. The greens were generally in good condition but resited holes needed the last ones to be filled back in with the new cores on a number of the holes. Staff and other course users were very pleasant throughout.
Overall a great day out.
Terrible Night
Turned up to the golf shop and it was closed. After traveling an hour with no signs. The course was in terrible condition and there was no way to get a refund
