In good order
I am a golfing Wimbledon, playing here and there. Very warm and friendly welcome in the Pro Shop.
Enjoyed playing here with greens in particular in far better order than numerous other courses around County Durham. Delight to play on full greens, although most tees were temporary.
Would have scored pace of play higher but after being played through by other groups, I came across 2 golfers who were not going to no matter what. They held me up for a few holes. However, on a par 4 they both blasted their tee shots into the trees either side of the fairway and therefore they had little option. Thankfully I hit the middle of the fairway and onwards I went.
Darlo
We weren't told it was winter greens, 2 holes were shut and we had to use a mat when booking. This should be stipulated when booking as £25 for winter greens is pricey.
Darlo is a very good course.
However, on his occasion it was disappointing as we were not informed of the course conditions prior to playing. This is a fault of the course and golf nows website. We feel ripped off on this occasion.
Sunday Golf
Nice little course good pace not many on the course to be honest. Trying to protect the fairways with fairway mats or take your ball to the edge of the fairway due to the time of year and the recent poor weather. Greens had been recently sanded
Great course
Really good course overall. Could be sign posted better in terms of where the next tee is etc but can't fault it otherwise. Nice and forgiving for higher handicappers.
Well Worth Visit
Greens were some of the best we have played the uniqueness of the course is the par 3 holes.
You could not fault the fairways and the members were some of the friendly we have meet while visiting other courses what really stood out was the variation of the holes well worth a visit if in the area
Lovely golf course
Great course, would definitely go back and recommend to others.
Tough test of golf
Darlington is a testing course for all abilities. Need to be able to shape the ball both ways. First cut should be shorter but fairways and greens are excellent.
Nice day out
Well looked after course, some parts of the course need to be addressed, ball cleaners dirty,no markers telling you where next hole is(mostly for visitors).
But besides a few issues, very enjoyable round of golf, greens especially.
No food on offer at club house!!!
Flat but not boring long par 3’s real test, overall very enjoyable
Slowest round ever
I have played DGC twice in the last couple of weeks. I like the course layout and the fairways and tee boxes are in decent condition. However the greens are very poor for this time of year and extremely slow.
I took me and my 2 friends just under 2.5 hours to play 9 holes. Absolutely shocking. A few weeks before that it was pretty slow as there was a competition on. However just because there is a comp on shouldn't mean slow play and holding everyone up. On the scorecord it states aviod slow play. This applies if there is a competition on or not. DGC really need to enforce this policy with people checking on the flow of the course or at a minimum put signage up a certain points around the course stating how long it should take you to reach certain points on the course depending on the group size.
