Over-crowded… no course marshalling of slow play
If l say a group teed off the 12th… the next 2 groups behind are already waiting at the 12th tee and the next group are coming up to the 11th green!!
A tough course
A decent track with some very tight fairways, however an errant drive doesn't necessarily end up in deep rough. The ball either ends up under the trees or goes onto a parallel fairway. A few blind shots and course knowledge is pretty key to a good score. Signage after playing the short par 3 9th was difficult to find for the 10th and we ended up walking around the car park and back down the main drive. It was possibly my eyesight though..!!
I'd play the course again though and plot my way around the course, the driver could stay in the bag for a lot of the holes and a lower score would probably be the result.
Well worth the money!
Haven't played here for a few years, but always remembered it being a very enjoyable, challenging round. Nothing has changed. They've made some improvements to the first tee, so I didn't go searching in the bush straight away. The course was in excellent condition, fairways were very good, but stray and you can be in trouble, The back 9 is tough if you're wayward off the tee (like me) but adds to the challenge. The lady in the Pro-Shop was incredibly helpful and polite. We had no issues with waiting around, with nobody behind us we were able to play at our own pace. Finished the round in 3 1/4 hours. Only time we hit bad weather was coming up the 18th.
Thoroughly enjoyable, will definitely be back!
Surprised
Sorry to say but the greens are in a truly terrible condition, fairways are okay.
Nice course, but Golf Now let's it down
Firstly ignore the low star rating, this is a great course with friendly staff. The issue is Golf Now don't link with the clubs own booking system. I booked my round Friday but saw a review about this issue so I called the club.
What happens is Golf now gives you a tee time, it goes to the club admin team who then have to check said tee time is available then email the pro shop to book it in. I've had this issue with other clubs which is Golf Now's problem to fix.
But the course is in great condition, the greens were great. My only gripe is the layout is a bit all over the place so grab a course map at the pro shop
Really pretty coarse
Really pretty coarse but can be a bit confusing finding some tee’s if you haven’t got a coarse guide really enjoyed playing here
Thoroughly Enjoyed Playing Here
Thoroughly enjoyed playing here, especially some of the large double greens. Not often you can putt more than 20 yards, read the break and finish close enough to the hole to get down in 2. Friendly service in the club shop too. Hope to return again once we're allowed back
Very poor muddy fairways but reasonable greens
Unfortunately, drainage on the fairways was the biggest problem with mud everywhere leading to difficult shots. Poor value for money at this time of year. Recommend only playing in the drier spring, summer and autumn periods when the course is well-kept.
Great first impression, great curse.
Played in a 3 ball booked through golfnow . Only £14 absolute bargain. Course was great some pretty holes and challenging ones too . Fairways were terrific with a fair amount of run out .considering lots of courses are really heavy with all the rain recently .. Greens were quick and true with lots of variation.. good facilities and friendly pro in the golf shop . Directional signage was ok and if a little confusing on some holes but didnt get lost on our first visit . Will definitely be returning even though it's an hour drive each way .
Very nice course and club
Found the course in good condition, course played well and is a strategic course, only hit one driver all day as mainly required an iron from the tee, quite a short course but greens are tricky, very friendly staff who accommodate your needs, only down side was a very slow society on the course who refused to let people play through
another good day at Donnington Valley
Yet another great day at Donnington Valley Golf Course, good dry hot weather but course in fabulous condition, slow sunday midday round which shows the popularity of it.
Hidden gem
I have driven past this course for the last 11 years but never played. Great golf course and in good condition. Highly recommend it
Thoroughly enjoyable round!
Although it was cold and windy we really enjoyed our round. Course in good condition with excellent greens. I'm a new player, my partner plays off 10.5 and although a bit more of a challenge for me I never felt under pressure and was able to finish with a respectable score.
