The land that now provides a home to Quarry Golf Course was formerly the abandoned Alamo Cement plant. Keith Foster converted this unique location into a challenging layout with a links-style front nine and a back nine that plays entirely through an abandoned rock quarry with walls over a 100 feet tall on three sides. The first half of the golf course features plays through open fields of rolling hills with native grasses and a near absence of trees. Creeks and streams come into play on six holes of the front nine. The quarry pit on the back nine is truly the most unique feature on the golf course. Quarry Golf Course's most dramatic hole is the 17th, which requires a tee shot over a deep ravine that is framed by a 40-foot waterfall.

Great course nice people

The Quarry is my favorite non-private course in SA. Course in good condition. Rye grass on greens coming in fairly well. Used buy it now and it’s certainly worth $50 - which is more than I normally pay. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

Having fun between Christmas and New Years Texas style

My son and I played The Quarry today (December 26th) as part of his birthday present. He turned 45 on the 21st of December and loves to play golf. The weather was perfect and the course was in great shape, as usual. We were able to play 18 holes in just over 4 hours and were paired with a very nice couple. She is expecting twins and still hit the ball really well. Her husband was 275 yards off the tee and had a lot of fun on the back nine (in the old Quarry). My son shot a 78 and I had a bogey on 18 for and 80. What a day....

Excellent layout and overall well maintained except for the slow greens. The greens appeared to not have been mowed or mowed at an unacceptable height when we played.

Don’t pass up this course if visiting San Antonio

Definitely a must play if you are visiting SA. It was in great shape and the greens were top notch. Love the contrast in playing style and strategy between the front 9 and the back 9 which is in the bowl of the old quarry. Some very long par 4’s on the back nine plus a 200+ yard par 3 from the tips on the back 9. Definitely a course my friends and I will play again on our next visit to SA

The staff in the pro shop were great. My wife went with me but stayed at the resteraunt while I played. The waitress at the club house never once asked my wife if she cared for anything to drink or eat. Yet they went to several other people and asked them if they would like something. For that I feel I am being generous in giving themm a fair mark.
