The land that now provides a home to Quarry Golf Course was formerly the abandoned Alamo Cement plant. Keith Foster converted this unique location into a challenging layout with a links-style front nine and a back nine that plays entirely through an abandoned rock quarry with walls over a 100 feet tall on three sides. The first half of the golf course features plays through open fields of rolling hills with native grasses and a near absence of trees. Creeks and streams come into play on six holes of the front nine. The quarry pit on the back nine is truly the most unique feature on the golf course. Quarry Golf Course's most dramatic hole is the 17th, which requires a tee shot over a deep ravine that is framed by a 40-foot waterfall.

Solid Course

Played the quarry many times, it’s always in good shape. I don’t think it’s quite worth regular value but it is well worth it using a discounted tee time.

Overall in great shape, greens slow

Course is in pretty great shape, especially in the fairways. Greens are not bad, but plying very slow without much break this summer. Always a great time, but keep in mind there’s hardly any trees so both 9s are pretty hot. Pace of play today wasn’t bad, but it would have been faster if not for b2b 4somes 2 groups in front of us who were playing some sort of best ball.

Fairways and greens a must.

The overall experience, staff and conditions were excellent. If you stay in the short grass you’ll be fine. If not and are a beginner this course will be tuff. Bring your billy goat legs and extra balls. The back 9 is so breathtaking. I will play again after I spend many days on the range and have better control. Loved it! #Quarry

Quick round..

Played Friday July 12. Tee time was 10:10 am, for a single. Got there early, hit a few balls (included in your green fee) and then went to starter. Starter let me go early, and he let me know about the 4 some in front of me. After 3 holes they allowed me to play through and it was smooth sailing after.

Course is in good shape. The greens had been punched recently but they still rolled pretty smooth. You will start on the back nine, great idea. That back nine is brutally hot in the summer in the afternoon.

Someone was bad mouthing the carts. The carts are great. Awesome Bluetooth, GPS, and very comfortable. Of course the carts cut off near the green and they keep you out the fairway for a while. That's hoe they keep course in good shape. No issues with that.

The Quarry

Playing back nine first in the summer. Great idea when starting early because that back nine is brutally hot in the afternoon.

I was a single and once the foursome let me play through I was done in under 4 hours.

Fun course and in good shape

Not player friendly

On the surface a fair to good course, but, for me a bad golf experience. Carts basically dictate your whole round; when you can enter the fairway; shut down without warning often even when you're in the fairway. GPS then goes off. Far more restrictive than any other course I play. They let the rough grow so high (supposedly to simulate links golf) that it plays much higher than slope rating. Compared to other San Antonio courses I just don't think this course is "player friendly." My rating would have been better before they got these new carts.

Ready to return

A hotel employee recommended this course, and we are glad we asked him. Booking a tee time online was smooth, the staff was friendly, and the course was just right for our mixed skill levels. The cart was equipped with a GPS system with Shark experience and music. A service cart made regular rounds, and clean restrooms were well placed along the course. My husband realized he left his sunglasses. I called to see if they happened to be at the course. Thankfully they located them and held them until we could return. The staff’s honesty was the icing on a positive experience. We plan to return as soon as possible.

Enjoyed the day.

Good course, friendly staff, Nice facilities. Pretty hot and humid on the course at this time of year, but cold water every few holes helps.

Just Plain Fun

This course is a riot. The front nine has some good variety and the scenery/forced carries over ravines of the back nine are unbelievable. The conditions were also very good, particularly considering a hard rain the day before. There were a few very small patches on the greens, but the overall conditions earns this course 5 stars. The price is also completely worth the experience. Will be returning again and again.
