The land that now provides a home to Quarry Golf Course was formerly the abandoned Alamo Cement plant. Keith Foster converted this unique location into a challenging layout with a links-style front nine and a back nine that plays entirely through an abandoned rock quarry with walls over a 100 feet tall on three sides. The first half of the golf course features plays through open fields of rolling hills with native grasses and a near absence of trees. Creeks and streams come into play on six holes of the front nine. The quarry pit on the back nine is truly the most unique feature on the golf course. Quarry Golf Course's most dramatic hole is the 17th, which requires a tee shot over a deep ravine that is framed by a 40-foot waterfall.

Great course

Made reservations a week in advance. The day prior to the round it rained all day. Was worried course was going to be a swamp the next day. Went out, there was hardly anyone on the course and the it drained very well. It was cart path only as expected but was amazed only few saturated areas. Cold day but overall great fun round. Plenty of challenging holes to test your driving accuracy.

Pleasant surprise

Really nice course, better than I expected. Challenging yet fair. Greens in great shape. Fairways very good too. Was thinking the front nine would be boring, and actually it was very entertaining. Back nine in the quarry even better. Driving range was mats only though, which wasn’t a big deal. I’ve played La Cantera Palmer twice and I’d rather play The Quarry again instead. Impossible to be disappointed with this course for money spent.

Great Experience Start to Finish

Just a great day of golf. Friendly staff, course was in great condition, decent pace of play. Fun course that gives you four tee box choices - if you choose the right one, the course is very fun and manageable. Links on the front nine and the quarry in the back makes it feel like you are playing two different courses. The quarry nine is very scenic and challenging. The tee shot on 17 is terrifying - requiring a long carry on the diagonal over the quarry to a very narrow landing area, and 18 is no bargain either. Hit those two fairways and you can say you accomplished something. Otherwise there are generous landing areas. Didn't have a bad lie all day. Just keep it out of the tall grass. Highly recommended.

Challenging, but fun!

Really enjoyed golf at the Quarry. Very surprised course was in such good condition based on recent heavy rain. Staff was definitely appropriate. Course layout challenging, but fun. Designer of course did a great job transforming rock quarry section (back nine) into a challenging golf course. Get ready for lots of water, throw in a few canyons, interesting hole settings, and nice surroundings. The 13th & 17th holes are signature holes for the course. Pace was nice for a Sunday noon. Overall, for the first timer on the course, it will work your management skills. If there’s a negative, we didn’t see refreshment cart until 17th. The snack bar is more like a restaurant, appeared geared for seat & eat, we could not ordet prior to making turn. I will play there again in near future.

Nice course. Had a lot of rain in the past month so very soft. Back nine in the quarry was very good use of land.

Sunday Afternoon

Had a tee time at 11:40 as a twosome and finished round in just over 3 hours on a Sunday! Didn't run into any people ahead of me on any holes so the pace of play was great. Fairways/greens were in excellent condition.

First time playing, will play again

The Quarry reminds me of a destination resort course: impeccable conditions; wide fairways; and top-notch amenities. While the fairways are wide, if you miss them, especially on the back 9, you will lose your ball. Back 9 is scenic as it winds through a limestone quarry (hence the name) but it is not as scenic as my expectations envisioned (it is not Sedona). Greens were in great shape, but a little slow. I assumed they were keeping the greens are a little long due to the oppressive heat we've been having.

I've been in Texas about 9 years. The midsummer conditions at the Quarry were as good or better ahn course I've played here. I'll play again (if I can get the golf now deal).

Play it...you'll love it,

Great experience

My son plays STPGA junior tour so he plays at many resort golf courses but he has never experienced the service given at the Quarry. He was very impressed. When we drove up to the the bag drop the bag boys were ready to receive us and got us ready to go. The staff inside greeted us with smiles. Except for management though. I guess they had some kind of important meeting. At the end of our round the bag boys were there to take our bags, clean our clubs and place our bags in our vehicle. Great job Quarry. Can’t wait to play there again.
