The Quarry Golf Course
About
The land that now provides a home to Quarry Golf Course was formerly the abandoned Alamo Cement plant. Keith Foster converted this unique location into a challenging layout with a links-style front nine and a back nine that plays entirely through an abandoned rock quarry with walls over a 100 feet tall on three sides. The first half of the golf course features plays through open fields of rolling hills with native grasses and a near absence of trees. Creeks and streams come into play on six holes of the front nine. The quarry pit on the back nine is truly the most unique feature on the golf course. Quarry Golf Course's most dramatic hole is the 17th, which requires a tee shot over a deep ravine that is framed by a 40-foot waterfall.

First time playing, will play again
The Quarry reminds me of a destination resort course: impeccable conditions; wide fairways; and top-notch amenities. While the fairways are wide, if you miss them, especially on the back 9, you will lose your ball. Back 9 is scenic as it winds through a limestone quarry (hence the name) but it is not as scenic as my expectations envisioned (it is not Sedona). Greens were in great shape, but a little slow. I assumed they were keeping the greens are a little long due to the oppressive heat we've been having.
I've been in Texas about 9 years. The midsummer conditions at the Quarry were as good or better ahn course I've played here. I'll play again (if I can get the golf now deal).
Play it...you'll love it,
Quarry Joy!
Beautiful course with a challenging layout. Had a great round in very hot and humid conditions. The staff was great. They were friendly and accommodating. The food in the restaurant was very good. Thanks for making my round enjoyable!
Great experience
My son plays STPGA junior tour so he plays at many resort golf courses but he has never experienced the service given at the Quarry. He was very impressed. When we drove up to the the bag drop the bag boys were ready to receive us and got us ready to go. The staff inside greeted us with smiles. Except for management though. I guess they had some kind of important meeting. At the end of our round the bag boys were there to take our bags, clean our clubs and place our bags in our vehicle. Great job Quarry. Can’t wait to play there again.
Always a Fun Course
I play here once every few months. Other city courses are not in the best of shape mid summer but The Quarry was pretty good! Would suggest raking all the bunkers but other than that we enjoy the challenge!
Course was in perfect shape.
I appreciate the staff, having the foresight to know that the back nine (the quarry) gets so brutally hot, sending everyone off #10 first. The greens were perfect and fairways were gorgeous.
No complaints - of course, carding a 66 always helps!
"Average" At Best
Friends and I flew in from out of town and golfed on June 22, 2018. It was average at best. Here's a list of my complaints:
1. I paid a reservation fee online for the tee times and the remaining balance to be paid that morning. I had to pay the full $85, which totaled $92 ($7 reservation fee).
2. The pro shop and restaurant was closed for renovations. Had I known that, I would have gone elsewhere. Well played by not notifying me prior to that morning. They should have discounted the golf game!
3. We had to be escorted downstairs to the restroom at the turn due to the restaurant being closed.
4. Credit cards had to be processed via carbon paper, yes old school 1980s style.
5. The carts are old and worn down, no GPS, coolers without ice, and a photocopy paper of the hole placement.
6. Shall I keep going?
I have been to less expensive courses that were much, much better! Definitely pass on this course.
You have to play the Quarry
One of the best golf courses in the state of Texas! A must play
range balls
GolfNow hot deal $38 But there was a 6 dollar charge for range balls. because I used GolfNow.
What a cheap trick!
the course is in great condition
Used the Golf Now app for the Hot Deal of the day at The Quarry. I was paired up with three other players. The course was in great condition, aside from the renovations to the clubhouse, pro shop and restaurant amenities. There was light traffic and one of playing partners was playing very slow and caused the group behind us to catch up when we had about a five hole gap when they teed off. Slow off the tee box, fairway and approach and on the putting green. then decides to tee off with a second ball when it was not necessarily to slow us down even more. Second putt after the hole was completed to again slow us down even more. This could have been resolved if the Marshall had addressed the group. It would have been perfect if it would have been a threesome. That player was the reason for the slow play not any other reason (the course had a perfect pace). I would return without a doubt.
Beautiful layout
Enjoyed very much my "Hot Deal" purchase at Golfnow. This was my first experience with a Golfnow purchase and it could not have gone better. The course staff was aware of our pre-paid tee time and no detail was overlooked. We were treated just the same as any full pay client. All in all a great experience. I will be booking with Golfnow again.....
eye candy
I looked at this course many time before I played it and when I finally did play I found it difficult to concentrate because I spent a lot of time appreciating the scenery...... great job to all and thank you for a great experience :-)))
Great course, great layout, fun to visit.
I really like playing the Quarry. This course is very challenging because of the layout. Lots of streams and ponds on the front and the quarry layout in the back is difficult but fun to play. I will visit again soon.
Play it
I am from out of town and played this course. It's by far the best I have played so far in San Antonio. The back nine, the views are like no other. The only complaint I had was the amount of sand in the bunkers which cause me 3 time, twice with fried eggs. Do yourself a favor and play this gem.
Beautiful, unique course with excellent layout. Unfortunately, the greens had recently been aerated and were bumpy and shaggy. That said, the remained of the course is in peak condition. The staff are helpful, kind and a pleasure to interact with.
you saved over $110...you should be ecstatic! But, yeah, they should have told you upfront about th $6.
