Average layout aside from a couple spectacular end holes
The layout was disappointing with an unnecessarily close overlap, also tenth was undergoing serious rework and fifth had a temporary green, neither of which were mentioned by the pro. The last two holes had spectacular views across the bay and played like links whereas most were just parkland. Aside from the work, the course was in good shape though the greens were relatively slow compared to nearby courses.
Course in general
Brilliant course to play. Staff very friendly and helpful. One of the highlights of my holiday . Would definitely play the course again. Neil Dermody
Fast greens
Pleasant welcome in the pro shop
Good practice facilities with a driving range
Practice green true to course (fast!)
Was paired up by golf now with Nathan ……… to his surprise.
Golf now does this to fill the hot deal slots, I have previously played with 3 other people who didn’t know each other.
My game was off so apologies to Nathan who was a great sport..
The course was in excellent condition with fast mainly firm greens.
Layout is good with lots of elevation changes.
Some of the tee boxes are hidden from the green you leave so a little more signage would be helpful.
When you get nearer the coast the wind comes into play and nice views.
Can’t comment on the bar or restaurant as I didn’t use them.
Although I had a mare of a round the course and Nathan’s company made the morning an enjoyable one.
Excellent course
The course was in great condition and some of the views were breath taking. This is not a run of the mill golf course. The views alone are worth the green fee.
Wow
What a great course to play, the tee boxes were a step up from anywhere else I've played, there is some great variation of holes and the views are amazing especially when you are playing an adjacent hole to the sea, club house staff were very pleasant and accomodating and it was nice to finish with a drink out on the terrace overlooking the first tee, will deffo be back
Disappointed
First time playing filey and I was looking so forward to playing it but I left feeling disappointed by the greens,For a course charging £40 I would expect the greens to roll true and slick however this was not the case they was slow and bobble .The layout and design was great with some well thought out holes
This course has great holes
Course was in excellent condition great holes only one par 5 but a lot of hard parts 4s
Better this time
Second and best time on this very old links and parkland course, Tee off 1136 and no one behind us throughout- direct course price gone up from our last time £30 to £40- good job got a Golf Now deal for £28!
Weather was a mixture of sun and cloud around 19C with wind though!
The pace was quite good- there was a 4 ball in front of our 2 which we caught up and then steadied up- well my partner helped by hitting off the fairways lol- ball searching!
The course has great scenery from the 1st green and the back 3, you go inland from hole 3 -onto the parkways- which gives a good blend to be fair and some quite challenging holes -up and down hill.
Only 1 water obstacle being the 10th, There are some ditches and small ponds off the fairway elsewhere mind you.
We didn't enjoy our first round here last year- preferring other local courses, however, really enjoyed this one and appreciated it a little more! Hit a reasonable 96 for my 24 handicap! We will be back if there is another deal!

Greens maintenance
Never got told it was greens maintenance week before we played or that the best hole on the course was closed and there was a couple of temp greens
The course
The course was in very good condition for the time of year
The staff very accommodating with an excellent bacon and egg butty to start the day
Really enjoyed it will be going back
Excellent course in perfect weather
For January the course was in amazing condition. Only 1 green was on a temporary green, although we weren't sure why as it looked perfect.
We were very lucky with the weather with sum all afternoon and round was.umder 4 hrs.
