Well designed course
Course chosen for a group of friends who all lived equidistant to the course (about 2 hours drive),
Experience was coloured by condition of greens and bunkers. Greens had obviously just been subject to maintenance and so were not in good condition.
A considerable number of bunkers were also subject to maintenance with many being GUR, others should have been, but either the GUR had been washed away or was never there. Others had brand new sand that caused plugged lies.
Areas of the course were boggy, again causing plugging.
Had played previously in December which was a totally different experience, hence we returned. Had we known about the greens, we would not have driven a minimum of two hours. Am sure that in a few weeks it will be an entirely different experience.
A lot of well designed holes in some attractive surroundings, the back 9 in the deer park especially appealing. We did wonder why so many well established trees were either dead or dying in the deer park.
The locker room a bit cramped with no clothes hangers for such a prestigious course. Plenty of choice for food before and after, but don't expect low prices, we noticed a considerable price hike in the three months sin e we played here last.
Ridiculously slow
Beautiful course and for the time of year in great condition . Unfortunately the pace of play was soo slow, over 5.5 hours to get a round was farcical and ruined the experience. When you get told it’s 4 ball pace by the starter you expect anywhere between 4-4.5 but over 5.5 isn’t good . Greens were bumpy .
I’ll probably give it another go when the weather gets a bit kinder
Overpriced for condition of course!
Majority of bunkers under repair! Was not warned about this at any point of the booking process.
Unacceptable!!
Excellent
The course was in fantastic condition for mid February
Fairways in amazing condition
Great course and set up
This is a great course and set up. In my opinion the back 9 is amongst the best anywhere in the midlands. It’s beautiful, particularly when the deer are roaming.
Course and greens in tremendous condition for this time of year. Greens very true.
Only slight niggle was the pace of play, felt like it was over booked a little which isn’t ideal for a top end course like this. Spacing out the tee times a little more or having a marshall on the course would help massively as we had to wait a lot on the tees.
Great value
Course fantastic - only niggles we’re half way house closed and slow pace of play.
Forest of Arden - really good course
The course was in beautiful condition. It was a challenging course without being too hard. The greens were in excellent condition. Lovely wildlife with deer amongst other animals.
Immaculate
The course and facilities at the forest of Arden were luxurious and the fairways and greens l spectacular. Challenging course but top class and exceptional value for money.
Enjoyable two rounds.
Very nice courses and complex, strangely for time of year both courses need some rain, nothing growing much just off the greens, even at this early stage of the season a few holes have lots of divots with the amount of play they get. Probably will be a lot better in a few more weeks.
Excellent Course
Great course , greens superb. Back in a few months. Hopefully I will play better.
10/10
Played a mid week evening round as a 1 ball. Immediately could see the course was in impeccable condition. Greens were undulating and challenging and general layout was very forgiving for a championship course, except the 18th which proved to be a round killer for me. 100% will be playing again thorougly enjoyed that round!!
Painfully slow
I played a two ball on Saturday 29/2/22 with a 12.10 tee off. I’m a very average golfer myself so I certainly feel that courses should be available to all levels of golfer. However the pace of play on Saturday was ridiculous. We ended up having to walk the last 3 holes even though we had given ourselves almost 5 hours of daylight!
The course definitely needs marshalls to maintain both pace of play and basic etiquette. We saw trolleys dragged over greens, we cleared lager and cider cans from tees. There were groups more interested in boozing than keeping up with the group ahead.
I have played this course on numerous occasions and it is fantastic. With just a little more attention this could have been another great experience.
