Forest Arden Course
The course was and is generally in great condition, pace of play depressingly frustrating and with a one ball in front and behind but the course backed up so after around 12-14 holes pretty difficult to focus an concentrate.
The clubhouse is tired and for a Marriot needs a decent menu and bar refit , doesn't compare well to the Belfry off course.
Course staff great , Pro shop , starter good but no on course management with marshall on pace of play
Great day, and friendly members
Got invited to play with some members who guided me around the course. Great bunch.
Nice course but too slow
Went for late afternoon round as a two ball. Wasn’t told there was a club match on and as a result were held up Behind two slow playing four balls who wouldn’t let us play through. Ended up walking off after 12 as wouldn’t have made it around anyway. Nice course though.
Great course, good value, very enjoyable. lacking someone at starters hut to welcome you and answer questions especially for first timers.
Definitely needs a sign after the 9th green to direct you to the 10th tee, the one that is there is all the way up at the event venue and is hidden by the bushes, we went in completely the opposite direction leading to an unnecessary delay
Arden course gem under weather
Arden course is a fantastic layout however the front 9 greens had been tined, there was goose dropping all over the first and 8th as well as it not being as well defined as the back nine , we would have been really disappointed had we paid £95 for an earlier tee But the back 9 is as good as anywhere I’ve played , clubhouse was really slow service waited 45 mins to order food and had to leave as it was an hour wait for the food to be delivered!!
Enjoyable test of golf for mid hcaps to Scratch.
Played as a single late on a Tuesday when in the area. Nice front 9 with some holes playing around and over a large pond. The course really gets going once you get into the back 9 in the old deer park. Ancient trees and roaming deer make you feel like you’re miles from anywhere. 2 par 5s on back nine (12&17) play to a double green which concentrates your mind! Good tough par 4s on 13, 14 and 16 test you out before the thrilling 200 yard par 3 18th over water. Good test of golf. David, 5 hcap.
Must play course.(Arden)
Beautiful parkland course in superb condition. Worth the green fees.
Great test
Have played here before and always in good condition. Love the lay out and test it provides but fair for a range of handicaps
Forest of Arden
Good coffee.
Friendly staff & a great day out
Thankyou to all involved for a lovely day out.
The Arden
Very much 2 nines, back nine being a little bit special. Not necessarily fair to rate during Covid, but it wasn’t up to usual standard. A little bit scruffy and greens average for a top course. Paid £50 which was reasonable concession for COVID and conditions. Personally, would wait to play again until things unwind properly
Excellent
Course in grey condition as always. In my opinion one of the best courses in the country. A great test of golf.
Boxing Day 2020
Most clubs in the area were closed due to wet weather, the course has held up really well with just a few wet areas around the aprons of greens and some green side rough.
Fairways were dry and the greens were in good condition, bouncy and slow for putting in places but that’s to be expected at this time of year.
Couldn’t complain about anything if truth the be told for a winters day of golf....apart from the price, £55 is steep but understandable during these times.
Very enjoyable.
Arden course
Trolley ban was in place on the day. The guys in the pro shop were very apologetic and leant us a carry back FOC.
Brillant Course
The Arden is one of the best courses in the area. In my opinion it is better than the Brabazon.
Challenging, super greens great layout and worth the money.
Queue jumpers and a bomb site
The course is clearly excellent however my round was spoiled by 2 x 4 balls jumping on at the 10th, i made the 18th in the dark. The fairways were spoilt by the number of un repaired divots. They looked like the somme unfortunately.
