Not to be overlooked
Although this is the cheaper option at the forest, this is not to be poo pood. It’s in great condition, the greens were quick fairways looked immaculate and even the pace of play was good. Looking forward to playing again.
Pace of Play
Only managed 16 holes before walking off due to the pace of play. There was a competition for which impacted this, however the groups we were behind played so slowly.
The course itself was very muddy and did not look in good condition. I would not recommend the course to someone else.
Pace of play
Great course which held up in awfully wet conditions. It did take us 3 hours to play 11 holes which was frustrating. Would play the course again but I am reluctant due to the pace of play
Challenge in the mud!
Difficult strat before golf as i was charged by the golf club direct as well as with Golf Now. After a lot of rain the fairways and course was very soaked and muddy. However the tees and greens were excellent.
Staff and officials very polite and helpful.
Good course spoilt by bunkers not prepared
Despite wet playing conditions for half the round the course played really well. The downside was the bunkers which looked like they had been flooded and not raked for weeks on end. They gave little chance of a shot out with any degree of confidence of what was below the ball. Very disappointing for a course of such quality.
Just a great course
Staff were great and helpful on arrival, course was in great condition, the greens were amazing and the course as a whole was well kept, great practice facilities also, will definitely play there again
Superb day
First time on this course as a four ball.
Course was a great mix of holes and presented different challenges all along!
Looking forward to returning
Great course and staff
I would like to extend a thank you to the friendly and helpful staff in the golf shop and to Robin at the starters cabin
A nice pretty course
Late booking (as always) couldn't find anything below £50 for a pm T-off, but then this came up at The Forest Of Arden, and what a lovely course and great condition. We were held up by 4 , 4 balls in front but it happens and they weren't too slow in fairness. The only slight niggle was the signage to some of the holes were well hidden.
Will definitely play there again.
Terrible customer service
Booked 6 people to play in 2 groups paid nearly 200£ when we got to the first tee we were told there was a golf pro in front with a lesson of 7 learners but they would let us through. To our frustration it took 3 holes to let one of our group through with the golf tutor totally ignoring those behind while the group took ages to complete the hole. The tutor then ignored the second group and after an hour of being stuck behind a group of 7 learners the second group had to skip a whole and just walk past in frustration. The learners were walking across courses while others were trying to take their shots.
We all need to learn to play and we don’t blame the learners but the golf pro was a disgrace how can you run a lesson at lunchtime of a busy bank holiday and ignore the players waiting behind ? Complained to the golf shop afterwards and met with a lukewarm “ oh sorry he should have let them thru “ . Totally ruined the day and this kind of don’t care attitude means we wouldn’t go back despite being a nice course. Think the pro needs to revisit the rules around etiquette and just good manners.
Tight Course
An enjoyable early round on a spring day. Played alone and got out early and so pace of play wasn’t an issue.
The course is of a moderate length and difficulty with generally tight fairways and very firm but true greens. I feel this is the poorer cousin of the championship course next door. If I had a gripe it would be the long grass walking off of every tee even if booming one down the middle.
Staff were friendly and a green keeper even assisted me when finding my ball when wayward.
Off course facilities are excellent and arriving early to use them would be advised if you have the time.
Pricing was for me slightly expensive for this quality of course @ £35. Playing off 5.1 the course gave me an extra shot and was able to play just under Hcp even after being +3 after 3.
Overall, enjoyed the course and give 4/5.
