Forest of Galtres Golf Club

The course was a very enjoyable experience. Not too difficult but still a good challenge. Overall it was in very good condition the greens were running very well. I would like to play the course again.

So a nice stroll round for us older golfers.

The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Subtle changes have been made to this course, letting some of the grass grow longer under the trees and between holes adds a new dimension and makes it look so much more considered. The greens were lush but were a bit on the slower side although it was probably two days since the last cut so I can understand.

Biggest bug bear was the bunkers, put a bit more sand in and reconstruct the edges.

Course is in excellent condition. Very friendly staff. And a lovely course to play. Some long holes so bring your driver 😂

First time playing here and can’t believe I left it so long to do so.

Really enjoyed my game here , will be coming back soon and can see it now being a regular course for me.

It’s a flat but still challenging course, exceptionally well maintained, with the greens particularly in fantastic condition.

If you’ve not played here before, don’t make the same mistake as me and get yourself booked in.

Plays well enough with nice greens but the course layout is pretty basic and flat, Other courses for the price are prefered.

Due to winter conditions only 9 holes open but still really enjoyed the course was a good test of golf and lovely walk on a winters afternoon

Paid £20 online. Each for 3 people. Another person joined us. Cost £30. At the course to add him on.This was on Tuesday 3rd oct 2023. On website it looks like £20 all day Tuesday . So feel it should be clearer on website or staff should know correct charges. It does look like £30 on other days. But definitely £20 on tuesdays

The welcome and pace of play were good but the greens were unusually slow. I have played at least 25 different courses this year and these were the slowest I have played on. Couple that with the grass on the fairways being particularly shaggy and some of the green side grass being in poor condition, I found it difficult to play but not in a good way !

Great course, lots of variety, wide fairways, water hazards, great variety. Superb greens.

No sand in the vast majority of the bunkers. Happily I only visited 2 during my round of 84 but in mid summer this is very very poor. Bunkers were like chipping off a cart path. Rest of day good. Only thing letting them down.

Not the prettiest but a very pleasant course and for 23.99 I would play here again. York has many options for high handicappers like me and at 23.99 is a decent option
