Golfer Reviews
Well worth the drive
Drove over from Sheffield to play and were really impressed - course in excellent condition, stunning views, great mix of some tricky and some scenic holes, and a great pint and snack after. The tee shot on the 16th is especially good.
Quaint but congested
The course is in a great setting and is a quirky course but there is a considerable amount of criss-crossing and the greens were in a shocking condition
A course for people who prefer scenery to golf
The Club advertises the course as an 18 holer but it's only 9 with multiple tee-off points. Two laps are required to play 18 holes which involves new players starting their round in front of you when you have just played the 9th hole. Obviously this leads to frustrating delays on the second circuit. If you are a Golfnow member don't waste your monthly allowance playing here; your money would be better spent on playing a bona fide 18 hole course.
Course needs better signage for next hole and greens, Great food and drink.
The course generally was in good condition with nice fairways and bunkers. Greens could be better and need rolled but looks like they had just been spiked. Better signage and a better picture overview of each hole on the tee would help as we got confused a couple of times.
Bar, pro shop and food and drink were excellent and good value for money.
Finally views at the top of the course were nice
Great scenery, lots of busy Karen’s around
Not a bad course, good scenery, great staff, good fun. However there are a few Karen’s knocking about. Kicking off if you say a swear word or act non-Tory. A woman walked 600 yards to shout at me for reversing the buggy. She was not a staff member but acted like I was doing doughnuts in an BMW M2. Also a 4 ball shouted at us for hitting a ball that landed a good 600 yards away from them. Nice course but be carful of Karen’s.
1st game in 2021
2nd time here
Enjoyable course once you get to know the layout but could be confusing 1st time
All holes and tee offs give good directions so keep a good lookout
Fairways good , greens good & will get better over the summer , friendly players & staff
Great price and will be here again
Rating for me 7/10
Snowed in
Although we played a few holes the course should really have been closed with upto 3" of snow in places. We wanted to play as we had not been able to 4 weeks but it really was not playable.
I appreciate in these difficult times the club would not want to refund our money and it will not stop us playing there again.
Great challenge
First time playing, will definitely be back. The course is a credit to the ground staff with all the rain we have had lately it was in excellent condition! Great layout and a challenge to golfers of all standards.
Well maintained but ...........
First time at Glossop so
Positives - Only £10, the course is in great condition, staff/members very friendly + it was a new course
Negatives - very short, I’m not a big hitter but all bar 1 par 4 was a drive then a 6 iron tops, I hit 4 pars to start with, which is slightly unusual for a new course and I played under my handicap of 15.
Biggest issue was it Is only really a 9 hole course that you play twice (different tee box but same green and fairway) so it was very slow, busy, confusing etc.
It’s a pity but unfortunately I don’t think I’ll play again.
Accident waiting to happen
I first played this course when it was empty months ago and didn't foresee what it would be like on a busy day. From the first hole we felt rushed by players doing the back nine, not helped by pin positions being easier to access on the back 9 giving even less time to get ahead and get into the swing of things and most fairways cross eachother, you share most holes with the back 9 and as an example of danger, the 2nd tee is across the par 5 fairway and over the first green, someone will get injured, I will never go back on a busy day
