Nice Saturday golf
Our 4 ball played grange on Saturday and we really enjoyed it. The course is a little basic in places but some holes are really good overall it was enjoyable, perfect for our ability. Some damage to a green from vandals and a few others were mossy but overall not bad. the car park is decent size, no problems parking. Went and checked in and the receptionist was a great help. She was very polite and was very thorough. The best part of the day was we did not even see another group! No one chasing us behind, no one holding us up in front! It was a pleasure!
When we finished we stayed for a pint, before leaving. I wouldn’t have any doubts of playing here again
Unsure of what’s happened at the Grange !
As an Ex member from years back I knew what to expect. But I was shocked to discover the decline in the course and disappointed that the pro shop had also gone !
Is it lacking investment ? Has it been recently taken over and work begun to making it as good as it once was ? (Hope so) the lack of people playing is concerning also. As it always used to packed !
I really hope it starts the get back to its former glory as it’d be a real shame to leave it in the state it’s become.
Thank you for your honest review. We completely understand your concerns, and you’re right—the course has been through some tough times. However, The Grange is now under new management, and significant work has been underway to restore it to its former glory. Our new greens team has been making real progress, and we’d love for you to revisit this summer to see the improvements for yourself. We’re committed to bringing the course back to the standard it deserves, and we truly appreciate your support. Hope to see you back soon!
The Grange
Poor condition
For the money there’s a lot better courses in the area some cheaper, the upkeep of course is terrible
We appreciate your feedback and understand your concerns. Since your visit in August, The Grange has undergone significant improvements under new management, with a real focus on course maintenance and overall quality. The greens team has been working hard to bring the course back to its best, and we’d love for you to revisit and see the progress for yourself. We’re committed to making The Grange a great place to play, and we hope to welcome you back soon!
The Grange
Fairway’s excellent
Overall very good fairways are excellent,
Greens need a fair bit of work as very hard
Value for money
Thank you for your review! We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the fairways and found the value for money to be good. We appreciate your feedback on the greens, and we’re actively working on improving them to make sure they’re in top condition. We hope to see you back soon to experience the continued improvements!
The Grange
Not like it used to be
Lovely course always been very challenging but I think the way it’s currently managed will put off players who don’t want to lose balls and spoil their card!
Thank you for your review! We're glad to hear you enjoy the challenge of the course. We understand that losing balls can be frustrating, and we're working hard under new management to improve the course conditions and make it a more enjoyable experience for all players. We hope you'll give us another chance to show you the improvements in the near future!
The Grange
Needs to do better
Second time I've played here an second time I've been held up by members not wanting to let a single ball through. Had to skip from 4th to the 8th and then go back to the 4th as "it's not worth letting you through as there's people in front of us"
Course is looking worse for wear in parts. Not worth the £20 green fee. The putting green ses it all. (See photos)
"Pro shop" non existent. A couple of random items scattered around and a bowl of communal used tees.
For £10 this course would be fine but £20 no.
Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear about your experience with being held up on the course—it’s certainly not the experience we want to provide. We’ll make sure to pass your comments on to our team to address the pace of play and ensure everyone has a more enjoyable round in the future. Regarding the course condition, we are actively working under new management to improve all aspects, including the putting green and other areas in need of attention. We really appreciate your honest input, and we hope you’ll give us another chance to show the progress we're making.
The Grange
Worst course ever
This isn't a golf course it's a field with 18 flags
Awful overgrown. No fairways just long grass
All bunkers out of play and no sand in and weeds growing
Pro shop had nothing in
Toilets disgraceful
Greens were like concrete with no grass
Do don't play it
Thank you for your review. We're really sorry to hear that your experience didn’t meet your expectations. We acknowledge that the course has faced challenges, but we’re committed to improving it under new management. Significant work is underway to address issues like course maintenance, the condition of the greens, and the overall facilities. We’d love for you to revisit in the future and see the improvements firsthand. Your feedback is valuable as we continue to make progress, and we hope to provide a better experience next time.
The Grange
Potential
Good layout. Very bad conditions in good weather a couple of the fairways where as long as rough. Greens where bad
Club shop even had no new balls
Not horrendous for 20 quid but not the best either
Thank you for your feedback! We’re glad to hear you liked the layout of the course. We understand that the course conditions didn’t meet your expectations, and we’re actively working to improve areas like the fairways and greens. As for the club shop, we’re aware there’s room for improvement and are working on getting it stocked up properly. We truly appreciate your input, and we hope you’ll consider returning to see the improvements in the future.
The Grange
I recently had the misfortune of playing at this course. To say it was a disappointment would be an understatement. The course was poorly maintained, with patches of overgrown grass and neglected bunkers. it was a challenge to navigate without losing a ball or two in the unkempt fairways. Save your money and your sanity
Thank you for your feedback. We're truly sorry to hear that your experience didn’t meet your expectations. We acknowledge the areas that need improvement, and we’re committed to making significant changes to restore the course to its best. Under new management, we’re focusing on the maintenance of the fairways, bunkers, and overall course condition. We’d love for you to revisit in the future to see the improvements we’re making. The Grange
Not the best
Course is still in bad condition after all the rain so alot of the Course still has bad clumps of grass cuttings and the greens need alot of attention
Waterlogged still
Played again for 3rd time in last 2 months. Played Styrrup yesterday , course in excellent condition Appreciate that weather conditions have been affecting all courses, but I guess drainage is a massive problem here at The Grange , I Lost another 5 balls today plugged in fairway, they have not or possibly cannot be cut in these conditions.
I saw a post on Facebook showing the driveway leading to the course has been Tarmacced....but no it has been patched up ..it is .better, no potholes as such but still poor condition.
I considered joining this year as the layout is goodand the course is local , but I will look elsewhere Sorry for bad review but honest.
Such a shame….. 😞
This place has downhill massively.
It’s a tough course, very undulating and can be enjoyable with some challenging holes. But…… we booked on (end of Sept) and was told it’s £15 for the rest of the year, which is really cheap let’s face it.
The shop doesn’t sell anything at all now, it used to sell almost everything and now you’ll struggle to buy a tee. The score cards were a paper photocopy. Used to have a lovely practice putting green, now it’s a poor astroturf area. Practice field is also no more.
Even in September the course was terrible, fairways barely cut and if you end up in the rough you’ll struggle to find your ball, it’s that rough!
Tee boxes a mess and greens not that much better.
It used to be a gem of a course but is being neglected. I won’t be going back and I’d avoid it if if I were you.
Criminal 🏌🏿♀️
It's criminal what's the current management have done to this once outstanding test of golf. A beautiful almost natural layout destroyed by the greed of the people who run this. Now unrecognisable because of the lack of maintenance, and general poor housekeeping.
Think the local council should reaquire this assett and remove the lease given to these amateurs.
Absolute disgrace what the leaseholders have done to this once local treasure.
Grange Park
Course layout is a championship one, but is in disrepair and needs some money spending on it. Such a shame I bet this was a lovely course in its day.
Value for money
Challenging course but needed looking after more,
If you was off the short stuff you were in trouble,
Overall it was ok
Course Conditions shocking
Played this course on a Saturday afternoon, turned up only a handful of cars in the car park. Walked into clubhouse having paid online, was told we could tee off straight away as no one else was on the course. Teed off on a uneven tee box, straight drive over a hill to a very uncut fairway, this was the same all round. If a wayward tee shot left the fairway then the ball could not be found in ankle to knee length rough. No semi rough just deep rough. Only saw one other group on the course all round. Would not recommend this course to anyone worst golf course conditions I have ever played. It's a pity because grange park used to be a very good track. Will not be going back.
Thank you for your review! We're really pleased to hear that you and your group enjoyed your round. It’s great to know the course suited your ability and that you had a relaxed, uninterrupted game—nothing beats having the course to yourselves! We appreciate your understanding regarding the greens, and we’re actively working on improvements, including repairing any damage. We'll also pass on your kind words to our receptionist! Looking forward to welcoming you back for another enjoyable round soon.
