Impressive change
As someone who previously had a membership here and decided to stop playing half way through it, I can’t believe the difference in 12 months under the new ownership.
There’s still work to be done, in some areas, but the greens were great, the fairways were a lot less boggy even after last nights rain, the rough has been cut to a much more reasonable level so no lost balls at the edge of the fairway and all in all, I was extremely happy with the conditions and would recommend to give it another try!
I’ve played other courses locally that are in much worse condition at this time of year, signed back up to the flex membership as can imagine as it warms up it should be amazing
Improving, interesting course
Grange Park is enormously improved over the last 12 months and provides a challenging interesting round of golf at a very reasonable price. Greens (March 2025) are in very good condition but work is still required on many bunkers. The course layout is excellent with holes that require thought rather than simply hit and hope. Be aware the course is hilly and does also challenge your fitness in places. Looking forward to seeing how the course improvements continue.
Grange park is on the up
Had a round couple of rounds (8/03/2025) & (9/03/2025) after not playing here for a while because the place had gone so far down hill with nothing but moss on the greens & uncut fairways. I received an email a few days ago saying it was under NEW MANAGMENT & the green keepers form another local golf course that closed because of flooding was now sorting this course out so i thought id give it a go to see if its changed & i must say they have & are doing a great job, the fairways are cut & play well, the greens are now grassed & run smooth with one or two showing signs of drainage work that can only be a good thing in the future. With one or two muddy areas on a minimal amount of fairways that is to be expected this time of year the overall feel of the Grange is now getting back to its once brilliant state & I'm looking forward to playing here again a lot more. This is one of my local courses & I'm very happy its being looked after again & i have a local course that I'm happy to pay & play. Keep up the good work new greenkeepers & groundsmen i cannot wait to play here in the upcoming summer months. I've already rebooked for another round tomorrow.
Thank you for your thoughtful feedback! We're so glad to hear that you're noticing the improvements and that the course is getting back to its best. The team has worked hard to get the fairways in shape and the greens running smoothly, and it's great to know you're enjoying the results. We appreciate your support and look forward to welcoming you back for more rounds—especially as we head into the summer months! See you again soon!
Thanks for the great feedback! We're glad you're enjoying the improvements and the course layout. We’re working on the bunkers and excited to keep making progress. Look forward to seeing you again soon!
Staff are very friendly and welcoming and can clearly see they are making the effort to improve this course and it’s working. The course it’s self is the best condition it has been in and was lovely to play. Will certainly be back and would recommend.
The course has been subjective to quite a lot of negative reviews over the years and the staff here are certainly doing all the right things here to change them.
Thank you for the kind words! We're thrilled to hear you're enjoying the improvements and the friendly atmosphere. The team is working hard to make changes, and it’s great to know it’s making a difference. We look forward to welcoming you back and truly appreciate your recommendation!
Improving
Better each time I come back. They’re taking far better care of the course. It had fallen into disrepair but has the potential to be a really good course. Boggy still in a few parts but generally fine most of the way around but not a surprise this time of the year. Isn’t cheap but is getting towards being worth it.
It’s getting better all the time, since the new investment
Not the best time of year to judge a course. However, since the new investors came in a lot of hard work has been carried out and it’s an ongoing process.
For me, Grange Park was always a bit of a treat, having first played the track when I was at school.
About 18 months ago, I took a walk across the course, because I saw the reviews on here. And in my opinion, I felt that most of those negative reviews were justified.
It was a crying shame, to see how the place had deteriorated.
Credit to those, who are turning this place around, let’s hope that before long, it’s restored to at least as great as what it was, not so long ago.
You can see the changes taking place, and we all just have to be patient and trust that this is going to carry on getting better and better.
I have just rejoined as a member, and I don’t spend my money on any old rubbish, so I think that speaks volumes, in respect of how I think this is all going to pan out in the not too distant future, if things continue to go in the direction that they have done in the past few months.
So at this time of the year, it is bound to be a tad more moist underfoot. Most places around here are going to be the same.
I would say, give it a whirl, maybe when there has been three or four days without significant rainfall for a fairer picture.
There has been a vast improvement in the state of the greens, yep the bunkers will have to be sorted, but that’s probably stating the chuffing obvious.
Please bear in mind it’s work in progress, get yourselves up there, and if you put everything into its true context, then you shouldn’t be disappointed!
Thanks for your hard work so far as you endeavour to restore Grange Park to at least its former glory.
Thank you for your thoughtful and detailed feedback! We really appreciate your understanding that it's an ongoing process, and it’s great to hear you’re seeing the improvements. We’re committed to restoring Grange Park to its former glory and beyond, and your rejoining as a member speaks volumes about the direction we’re heading. We agree, patience is key, and we’re excited about the continued progress. Looking forward to seeing you out on the course again soon! The Grange
Give it a chance!
Booked this round at relatively short notice and was concerned given the reviews from around 5-12 months ago. But, the more recent reviews were much more positive.
It's clear the club has gone through some troubles over the past few years, but things clearly seem to be improving.
The fairways were cut to a respectable length, and the rough was thick but manageable. Some of the greens could have been better - with a few looking like they're recovering from vehicle damage - with a few with really poor drainage.
Overall, we really enjoyed the round. It's great course for beginners and your 'average' golfer. I'll definitely be coming back when the weather improves.
Thank you for your honest and thoughtful review! We appreciate you giving The Grange a chance and are glad to hear you enjoyed your round. You're absolutely right—we’ve been working hard to improve the course, and it’s great to see those efforts being noticed. The course is now under new management, and we're committed to making continuous improvements. We’re confident things will only get better as the weather improves. Looking forward to welcoming you back for another round soon!

Thank you for your review.
The Grange
Seriously underrated course. Amazing layout.
Played this course for the first time and was apprehensive after reading the reviews but we were pleasantly surprised. The layout is fantastic, one of the best in the surrounding area. The condition was fer better than expected and especially for this time of year. Greenskeepers are doing an excellent job. Staff in the clubhouse were super friendly and welcoming with all the facilities you need. We play in and around Sheffield and will be back in better weather to play again. The Pete Cowen driving range is also 30 seconds away so that gives another option to warm up before playing. Would recommend this course to anyone. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for taking the time to leave such a fantastic review! We're so pleased to hear that you enjoyed the course and that it exceeded your expectations. Our greenskeepers work tirelessly to keep the course in great condition year-round, so they’ll really appreciate the shoutout! It’s also great to hear that our clubhouse team made you feel welcome. We look forward to seeing you again in better weather—hopefully, The Grange impresses you even more in prime conditions! Thanks again for your recommendation, and we’ll be ready to welcome you back soon!

Fantastic layout
First time I’ve played here for over 20 years and forgot how good the course layout is. It was nice to play off grass tees and the greens were superb considering the time of year. The fairways were very wet though and could definitely do with slitting to clear some of the saturated top soil. The bunkers were generally out of play due to disrepair or out of action. Ive heard that the club is under new stewardship and these issues will be dealt with. I’m a member of a Sheffield club but am definitely going back to play it in the summer. Was rather feeling the worst having read some reviews but really enjoyed playing it considering the time of year.
Thank you for your review! We're delighted you returned after 20 years and enjoyed the course layout. It’s great to hear you appreciated the greens and grass tees, especially at this time of year. You’re absolutely right—the course is now under new management, and we’re fully committed to improving areas like bunker repairs and drainage work on the fairways. We really appreciate your feedback and look forward to welcoming you back in the summer when the course is at its best!

Thank you for your review. We hope to welcome you back to The Grange soon.
The Grange
On the up.
My second review in 10 weeks. And what a change ! Greens are fantastic, fairways cut nice as well as tee boxes. A new warm up net, the start of getting the putting green back. Rakes in bunkers. Mole control ! Great to see.
Please continue the upgrades.
My only grumble is the price. £35 is too much at the minute. Drop the price and get people playing it.
Thanks for your second review—we really appreciate you coming back and noticing the improvements! It’s great to hear such positive feedback on the course conditions and the upgrades we’ve made so far. There’s plenty more to come, and we’re committed to continuing the progress.

Reviews don’t do it justice
Nothing wrong with the course, could be better kept but was a winter game so understandable
Thank you for your 5-star review! We’re glad to hear you enjoyed your round. We understand that winter conditions can affect course maintenance, but we’re always working to improve. We appreciate your understanding and hope to welcome you back when the course is in prime condition!
The Grange
Improving but expensive
Would’ve given. A 3.5 if I could.
Course is definitely better looked after than it was, especially considering I last played here in summer last year compared to now(autumn) it is better now. It’s hopefully on an upward turn as it was pretty unmaintained when I played last year but has potential as there are some interesting and challenging holes.
Warm up area - Nets/putting green are better than they were but not fantastic.
Price isn’t great especially compared to what you can get for cheaper nearby.
Pace of place - annoying. I was solo and 3 ball in front would rather rush themselves than let me through. Also some members behind me were up my a r s e for the first few holes on the tee despite clearly being held up in front.
Potential to be a good course if it continues. Apparently have a new head green keeper.
Big progress
The new investment that was badly needed, and promised over 7 months ago,is now finally starting to make a difference,You won't be looking for your ball after every shot, the fairways are like they once use to be and the rough is cut to a reasonable length.Still a lot to do re the bunkers,.The greens are progressing nicely.I really hope they get it back to how it use to be,as in my opinion this course is the best layout and challenge in south yorkshire
Thanks for your review! It’s great to hear that the investment and hard work are making a real difference. We’re committed to bringing The Grange back to its best, and feedback like this reassures us that we’re on the right track. The fairways and rough are certainly getting back to where they should be, and we’re continuing to focus on further improvements, including the bunkers. We truly appreciate your support and couldn’t agree more—the layout and challenge here are something special! Hope to see you back again soon.
The Grange
Still no changes!?
Previous visit was 12 months, but thought I’d see if any improvements. It’s apparently been taken over and has new greens keepers. Lots of reviews mention long rough, you’ll struggle to find your ball if you land off the fairway on a number of holes. Bunkers are terrible, even after an alleged bunker restoration project. Greens are very average . Lots of promised improvements to the club overall haven’t materialised. Not worth £25.
Relaxing rounds
It's not my nearest course but it's the course I play most often. I like the layout of the course and that it isn't usually packed, with queues on the tees. The greens and bunkers aren't perfect and the rough is very long so take spare balls if you don't always hit the fairways. Staff are friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed which suits me and my golfing partner as we don't like stuffy rule ridden courses. Overall, I'd recommend Grange Park as suitable for new and intermediate golfers.
Thank you for your review and for choosing The Grange as your go-to course! We’re glad you enjoy the layout and the relaxed atmosphere—we want everyone to feel welcome here. We appreciate your honest feedback on the course conditions, and we’re continuing to make improvements, especially with the greens and bunkers. It’s great to hear you’d recommend us to new and intermediate golfers, and we look forward to welcoming you and your playing partner back again soon!

Nice Saturday golf
Our 4 ball played grange on Saturday and we really enjoyed it. The course is a little basic in places but some holes are really good overall it was enjoyable, perfect for our ability. Some damage to a green from vandals and a few others were mossy but overall not bad. the car park is decent size, no problems parking. Went and checked in and the receptionist was a great help. She was very polite and was very thorough. The best part of the day was we did not even see another group! No one chasing us behind, no one holding us up in front! It was a pleasure!
When we finished we stayed for a pint, before leaving. I wouldn’t have any doubts of playing here again
Thank you for your review! We're really pleased to hear that you and your group enjoyed your round. It’s great to know the course suited your ability and that you had a relaxed, uninterrupted game—nothing beats having the course to yourselves! We appreciate your understanding regarding the greens, and we’re actively working on improvements, including repairing any damage. We'll also pass on your kind words to our receptionist! Looking forward to welcoming you back for another enjoyable round soon.

Unsure of what’s happened at the Grange !
As an Ex member from years back I knew what to expect. But I was shocked to discover the decline in the course and disappointed that the pro shop had also gone !
Is it lacking investment ? Has it been recently taken over and work begun to making it as good as it once was ? (Hope so) the lack of people playing is concerning also. As it always used to packed !
I really hope it starts the get back to its former glory as it’d be a real shame to leave it in the state it’s become.
Thank you for your honest review. We completely understand your concerns, and you’re right—the course has been through some tough times. However, The Grange is now under new management, and significant work has been underway to restore it to its former glory. Our new greens team has been making real progress, and we’d love for you to revisit this summer to see the improvements for yourself. We’re committed to bringing the course back to the standard it deserves, and we truly appreciate your support. Hope to see you back soon!
