Bargain golf
I have to say this is the best £12.50 I've ever spent on a round of golf. Course was in great condition, greens were brilliant.
For a municipal course it's brilliant. The layout and some of the holes are as good as anywhere. Only downside is groups of lads who don't know the etiquette about letting you through or pace of play. Took me 40 mins for first 3 hopes!!! For a cheap round of quality golf this is the place to go. If this was a private club it could be made into an absolutely fantastic golf facility and one of the best courses in the area. A hidden gem of a course. I will be back.
Great value course
Have played here a number of times over the past few weeks. The course is absolutely amazing for a municipal course. Had a good chat with the head green keeper and praised him on how good the course is. The staff are really friendly and lots of cafes to get something to eat after the round. Would definitely recommend and will be playing here again!!
Great Muni
Played many times over the years. In great nick just now, with greens faster than you might expect, fairways just lush enough and rough challenging.
Not for the ultimate connoisseur due to the slowish play by beginners, but choose your times well and you will enjoy a cheap round what must be one of the best Muni’s.
Well done Wigan borough.
Enjoyable course, but some issues.
We thoroughly enjoyed the course once we found where to go - not the best sineage.
We were delayed at the start as there were 2 flights still waiting to play when we arrived and thus we started 15 mins late. There appeared to be either too many flights and / or the departure times were too close together (5 mins?).
On finishing the round there were no hot drinks available.
All that being said- it is a course we would play again- the fairways were in good condition and most of the greens were in good condition.
Haigh Hall Golf club
The day we attended was very windy and in the days previous to our visit it had rained a fair amount. The course was in good condition despite this rain. Fairways were very good. Tee boxes needed more turf and the greens were average.
Overall for the price, I think it was very good value for money.
Surprisingly tricky.
A very clever layout gives rise to challenging slopes where going against the topography will cost you dearly.
Great views from this once baronial seat coupled with some of the best greens in the area will guarantee you a fulfilling day.
Fantastic Value and Nice Course
Incredible value for a nice course, shoutout to Rebecca for giving me some bottles of water when i ran out on a hot day.
Good course
First time playing and would come back. Great value for money, staff were friendly and helpful. Course in good condition and greens were very fast.
Overcrowded
Absolutely rammed waiting to tee off on every hole single player and taken me over 4 hours go round says it all really but apart from that brilliant course.
Excellent affordable course for the beginner
This course was cheap and cheerful. It was a very busy day on the course but busy because it’s decent and affordable. The course has its challenges like some unforgiving fairways. There were a couple of holes which were very narrow, meaning you could easily slice your ball onto oncoming players or, playing into someone else’s drive to retrieve your ball.
Due to the dry weather, there were a few dry spots on the tees, and greens. But again, the cheap and affordable cost means you are likely to see this some less TLC than the more expensive courses.
Overall, excellent challenge for amateurs and beginners alike.
Sunny delight
Our second visit of the year on a beautiful sunny day.
The course generally is in good condition but some of the tees and greens are showing signs of the lack of rain but if you like sunny days there ain't no rain
Nice sandwich in the cafe after the golf.
We will be back
Great value great course
Great little course very hilly and quite tricky would definitely recommend this course to anyone
Great value
Played on a twilight tee time the condition of the course was perfect and the layout of the course is great.
Also a great tough hilly course
