Golf

Really good course to play just could do with buggies as it is a hilly course but other than that I highly recommend this course to beginners like me

Disappointing

First time I’ve played here for several years and probably the last time too.

Grass far too long in almost every area including the ‘greens’

Some grass cutting happening as we played but not collected meaning you can lose your ball on the fairway with all the cuttings being left

Very poorly sign posted

Greens full of unrepaired pitch marks and in dire need of a a leaf blower given the amount of grass etc on there

People allowed start back 9 in front of us with a 1 ball in front of us holding us up for a couple of holes surprisingly enough

Superb value for money

Played here today the greens where very nice , boggy in places on the fairways but taking into account the rain we've had recently the condition is good , the course could do with a little bit more maintenance and maybe some next hole signs but for the money we payed Im not complaining . I will be returning here soon and hopefully play better

Enjoyable knock for cheap price

Haigh hall is ideal for any golfer weather it be beginner, amateur or experienced and it will still challenge you. Not just a driver and wedge course (par 4s) and not exactly long but challenging par 3s too, price wise is likely the best for miles as the only course close is a 9 hole course weather that is the leisure lakes or over to blackburn, no 18 holes is being played for this low of a price. Absolutely perfect and will be back again soon.

Course has dried out a little and the greens are increddibly looked after considering the courses management and location 💯/💯 for me

Course very soft.

Havnt played here for a few years. The course is in very soft condition, and found myself losing balls in the fairway which is very frustrating when paying summer green fees.

Think will the course is in this condition the fees need to be adjusted. Greens in good condition though.

Wet weather
Walked

Very wet, muddy and unpleasant golf

Played Haigh Hall many times but always in summer months i.e. April onwards - it has always been a decent course to play whenever I've visited. However, I played yesterday and question whether they should have allowed it to be open. Only played the front 9 - 3 or 4 fairways were laden with maintenance vehicle tracks, just a mud bath waiting to swallow balls and the fringes were completely sodden and mushy. Greens weren't too bad. Clearly, it has suffered from all the rain and I'm in no way criticising ground staff who are on a hiding to nothing in these conditions however closing the course, for me, would have been better until a prolonged dry spell allows reasonable golf to be played. Consequently, I wouldn't be willing to play there again, probably for a good 3-4 weeks, assuming we do eventually get a prolonged dry spell when hopefully it will be recovered.

Has potential to be alot better

Booked this course as hadn't played in around 10 years..online reviews left us a bit doubtful of we would be getting if anything at all half decent rang course before hand to check if trolleys were allowed. And they were thankfully..arrived and spoke to several members prior all said same thing course could be better but the extensive rain over days weeks months prior let the fairways down...however I've played alot worse and played alot better, but its nothing to avoid had great greens really dry and firm decent enough pace considering..overall would/could be decent venue once dried out a bit more on fairways. Will play again.👍

Wet

Very wet, unplayable but will refund after 3 holes if you don’t want to play because of conditions. Would be a good course to play in the summer.

Very wet course so we left early. The course shouldn't have been open. If it is dry for several days before then I expect the course would be fine

Boggiest course I’ve ever played,

We was warned that the course was wet but nothing could prepare us for how it actually was.

Greens were pretty decent and firm but everywhere else is marshland.

3 of us played and lost 35 balls ( 1 handicap, 12 handicap and 20 handicaps) hit the fairway most of the time, think that’s where we went wrong.

We all fell over and got full of mud, very lucky we didn’t hurt ourselves.

The course should be shut as it’s really not playable.

Would not go back if I was paid.

Wish we used the rule of not happy after 3 holes get your money back.

Great Location

1st time playing and will definitely be back in the summer. A bit wet and slippy in places, but with weather we have had, not unexpected. Priced very reasonably, and I imagine a great course in spring/summer.

Overall, an enjoyable 4 1/2 hours of golf.

Also must mention the facilities. Lots of shops/cafes on site with very reasonable prices.

Wet as it gets

Super wet and boggy but they do have a policy in place to get a refund if f you’re not satisfied with the course on the day. Can’t complain for the price and it’s a great course in the summer

A challenging parkland course that uses its features

The weather had been absolutely awful so we weren’t expecting much. Like every course around here it is boggy!

To get out for a round of golf is an achievement.

The winter policy is spot on - if you are not happy about the conditions after three holes come off and get your money back. We played 18😂

The staff are very friendly and the cafe is great value.

Course conditions

The course was open to players, after all the heavy rain that everyone has had it was no surprise that the place was saturated with parts of the course almost unplayable, however it was a nice sunny day so we just got on with it and made the most of it, We could return when the course has dried out

Absolutely awful.

Like playing golf on a football pitch. No drainage whatsoever so you are walking in mud pretty much all way round. Greens are ok but the layout of the course is really bad no proper tee boxes on most holes which is shame because if there was good upkeep would be a good course. Go from 12th hole and make the mistake of thinking 15th hole is next one to go to. Layout really poor.

Directions

This is my 1st time on this course and only criticism is there are no direction to the next tee so went wrong way a couple of times.

Was boggy but staff said we can come off after 3 holes and get refund if we wanted. We stayed on as course was nice.
