Slow play, no rules.
Played a 4 ball on Sunday and from the first tee I could see that this wouldn’t be like the usual courses I have played.
There were two chaps waiting to tee off who wore t shirts and Nike TN’s and were also sharing a golf bag between them. I’m far from a golf snob but this seemed odd.
I couldn’t fault the fairways; good condition considering how many people seem to play this course. The Greens however weren’t great. There was barely any grass on them what so ever
From the third hole we were stuck waiting to tee off right up until the 18th. Way too many people playing and also nobody seemed to enforce the rules.
A couple of young workers flew past us whilst we playing on a number of occasions and could clearly see the course was backed up due to slow play but nothing was said or done about this
Wouldn’t play here again.
Really slow
Played as a 1 ball took me 4 and a half hours,, got caught behind a three ball on the second hole, they didn’t let me through until the 12th by which time we had caught up with another three ball in front of them (they were not in sight when I first caught up). Alongside this, other people were clearly joining the course having not paid. Also on one hole a Walker was picking up golf balls and picked up mine and walked off with it. Nobody checking the course at any point. Very little instruction when I arrived at the course and no available on site parking due to busyness. Really poor experience, a shame because the course is a challenge and has a good variety of holes.
Wonderful winter golf
Course in good condition when you think how many people play it. All greens and fairways open. Greens were in good condition and course was as challenging as ever.
I would recommend that every golfer should play this at least once.
good challenge
not for the unfit type of golfer, this is a really good course with a hilly terrain it tests most parts of your game, its got to be the best municipal course anywhere around greater Manchester on par with most all private courses & in summer even better
Play far too slow. Too many bookings taken
Started play 20 minutes late due to a queue at the first tee despite paying in advance for a tee time. 4 hours later only on 13th hole so decided to leave then. Disappointing as this is a lovely testing course in good condition. Sadly will play elsewhere in the future.
parking problem
the course is excellent as I have played it before But when I arrived in the car park I was greeted with notice saying pay & display which was £3 for over 3hrs which you need as it takes 4hrs minimum to play the course this has only just been sanctioned by the council I told the guy at the golf shop if I've got to pay to park my car I wont be playing there again this was never the case as it means your round now costs an extra £3
Testing course
this course is not for the timid it is a really well looked after course with no shortage of hills but well worth having a testing game at anytime, with good greens, you will know you have played it for sure
Great track
This is a cracking course. Although a municipal, course was in great condition particularly after the poor spring weather we have had. Greens were a little slow but understandable being the bank holiday and hot weather. It is a fun course where you can have a go at some relatively short par 4s but there is also danger. Front nine are undulating whilst the back nine have a few ascents and descents. 11th,12th and 15th require a good tee shots to carry a deep, wide ravine. Played here over the winter and had a good day but vowed to come back in summer conditions. I was not disappointed.
Course in excellent condition
Greens very good course was in great shape all round
Best public golf course
Arriving to Manchester to attend the British Open, we felt that a quick golf game would help overcome the jet lag. Searching on GolfNow we found the nearest golf course just a few miles from the hotel and found a gem! The course is beautiful, scenic, good layout and challenging. Lots of uphills (it seems) and blind greens! Back nine has a four call over holes where you walk through the canopies the forest to reach the other side. The best golf outing we have ever experienced!
Absolute Gem
The course was in excellent condition and weather perfect the day we played
The staff was friendly and recommended a course map, this is needed for the first time course player, as the course is hilly, with many blind tee`s.
I will definitely be back.
Great
Great course...very hilly but a great leg work out at the same time...unless you remember to get a buggy
Brilliant course
Had a fantastic round of golf at Heaton Park. The course is hilly with lots of blind shots. The par 3 12th is an unbelievably beautiful and challenging hole - one of my favourite holes I've ever played. The course for the most part is very challenging but with some tame par 4s to finish. It is in excellent condition - couldn't fault it. The only drawbacks were the lack of signage - we got lost a couple of times, and the lack of a map either on the scorecard or the tee to show the layout of the hole. Would definitely recommend!
A brute of a course but forgiving at the same time
First off, if you're pulling/pushing your own trolley you'll know about it by the end of the round, this is a up and down course but it's a fair challenge with some fantastic driving positions. The second 9 is a real test of course management and nerve but hit a good shot and you'll keep that smile for a few holes.
One point to note, the pay and play price was £5 cheaper than booking with Teeofftimes which is disappointing. Fair play to the club Pro for calling it out. Come one Teeofftimes, get it together. That can't be right??
Excellent Course
Superb challenge of a course.
Very well kept. Superb greens. Spectacular scenery.
