Poor conditional !
Far to wet should have heen closed! Only 17 holes in play and didn't find this out till we got there! Stick to links courses i
Lovely course I think!
Had a really enjoyable day here. Dense fog meant we nearly didn’t get started, However we were lucky enough to get started just about on time and were able to enjoy the quality of the course despite not being able to see much more than 120 yards. (Thank you GPS)
Good greens for the time of year, very friendly members, who helped on a few holes to know where we had ended up or give us some guidance on the hole itself. A really welcoming club. Will be back in spring!
Too many tee times with unfriendly members
The course looked ok and absolute kudos to the amazing staff in the cafe/ bar. They were friendly and so helpful from arriving to leaving. I had breakfast there and then lunch after and they were so good!
That’s the good stuff out the way ...
The course was ok very damp in places but that’s ok.
The members were the main issue. Judgemental and accusatory.
There were clearly far too many tee times.
Understand you want to make money before another lockdown but that will not get you revisits.
We were passed by a 3 (there were 2 of us) who suggested we were playing slow.
And guess what? .. we waited for them for every hole after ... waited to tee off ... waited for them to clear the green. Hmmmmm ... too many tee times?
Also we felt pressure from those behind us waiting on the tee then waiting for us to clear the green to clear.
Too many tee times?
When we got back & I read the club rules about being polite and all the good stuff.
Would be a good idea to remind your ‘members’ of that now and again.
Good day of wet winter golf
My wife and I decided to play Kirbymoorside after the announcement about the forthcoming UK lockdown and because our home course was closed due to the rain. We didn't have high expectation so we were not surprised that several holes were using winter tee boxes and/or winter greens. Nevertheless, the weather was reasonably kind and we actually played some quite good golf which was satisfying.
Disappointing
The course did not live up to expectations. Full green fess charged for temporary tees and one temporary hole. Supposed great views over the Moors we’re not evident.
KMS Winter Tees
First time on Winter Tees which was sometimes challenging as White, Yellow & Red huddled at one or other end of several grass tee.
Day out with a friend
Had a good day out although my senior golfing friend found the course a little challenging due to the ups and downs of the course. Lovely course in picturesque surroundings.
Kirkbymoorside is top
Lovely day lovely course lovely locals. All in all a must play course in North Yorkshire
Each hole has its own challenge and character
Great condition and the greens were true and fast
We will return
Really enjoyable course with some challenging holes
I've been playing a year . No expert or natural player - usual ammateur variable shot performance. As such really enjoyed this course. Some challenging holes , good mix short and long holes. Perfect challenge for my level. Friendly club house and great chip butty.
Well maintained in all areas
Despite COVID-19 restrictions this club demonstrated just how feasible it is to maintain a functioning venue with a little application of common sense alongside the necessary hygiene requirements.
Booking was easy on line and swiftly confirmed.
On arrival cleaning staff friendly and helpful, booking in friendly and straightforward.
Tee 1 immediately outside clubhouse and we were away on time.
Good pace all the way round, course condition very good with active green staff around the course.
No water hazards and bunkers small and far between. Challenge the first time round reading the slopes of which there are many. We thoroughly enjoyed our game and we’re delighted to finish off with a drink and sandwich after.
The bar already had our details for track and trace from registration booking, a quick temperature scan and service was on. Well done to all.
One of the best course s in North Yorkshire
We have played Kirkbymoorside on many occasions over the years and the combination of quality of the course, the greens, the views and the sheer variety of difficulty makes this an exceptional golfing experience. We will be back!
Really Nice Course
Really nice course with everything in good condition.
Just one consideration ,we were a two ball, over 65's and found the terrain very challenging, lots of walks up to tees and up and down valleys.
Exhausted at the end. Members probably getting used to it but as one off visitors we found it tough going and couldn't really play our best golf.
Great views and a really friendly club house
Dear RG - I was the member playing in the group behind you. To be fair you seemed extremely grumpy before you set foot on the course. I know that the General Manager was just about to offer you all a free bacon roll and coffee to make up for temporary greens - but you were so out of sorts he didn't bother.
I'm really surprised that you didn't telephone before you left home as it rained all night - as the confirming email that you get sent suggests you do when you book online. The temporary greens were put on that morning because of the overnight rain. Perhaps the course should have been closed - but then you would have arrived and got no game at all. And at £17 that was only a £1 a hole. Yes stick to links golf when its wet weather - Ganton was open (with course restrictions) at a mere £60.
