Nice, tree lined course over some tricky undulating terrain
Despite it being a Bank Holiday the course was very quiet and we got off to an earlier start than we’d booked and had a quick round with no holdups. The course was much more hilly than we’d envisioned with some tricky fairway layouts and green locations. The fairways are largely tree-lined although there was no problems finding your ball if you went off-line as underneath them was well mowed. Having to play out sideways is fair and simply speeds up the pace of play! Unfortunately on the day we played the greens were being hollow tined (as we played) but it didn’t actually seem to trouble us when putting on the greens or spoil our round. Overall a nice well maintained course with some great holes and lovely views of Launceston.
Social visit
I have played the course a few times before. It is always excellent.Given we are still mid February and we just had some of the worst storms in years the course was in great condition.Tge greens were excellent and ran very true.
It is fairly long and a few hills but a good mix and thoroughly enjoyable.
There are also great views of Bodmin moor to Dartmoor and over Launceston castle and town.
The club house and the staff were very friendly and helpful.Beer and food was very good.Would definitely recommend this course and facilities.
Green and Open
Lovely course lay out with plenty of room to open your shoulders and really hit the ball. Whilst the greens were excellent there were a few damp patches around the course. This wasn’t surprising as we’ve had a fair amount of rain lately. I would definitely play this course again and recommend it to others.
Well-kept woodland course
Played here a few times now and each time its the course has been very well presented even with the wet weather that we had. Nice warm welcome in the shop by the gentleman in there. Will be coming back again to play on this course! Keep up the good work Launceston Golf Club!
Worth a visit
It's the second time I've played at Launceston & I've enjoyed it both times. Challenging but not too challenging! The greens were quite slow & the fairways not too short. We had a fine day until it rained moderately on the last 2 holes!
Friendly members
Really enjoyed the round and the members were very friendly and welcomed us to their course.
Dad v Son⛳️
Had a great day that started with John in the Pro Shop making us feel so welcome & free to enjoy the coarse and facilities. Thank you John and all.
Paul & Josh
Friendly Pro shop.
Course in great condition and a fair test.
Staff in the bar were very friendly.
Thoroughly recommend a round here if you're ever in the area. Looking forward to a return soon.
Perfect day
After the easing of restrictions, an away day was a great distraction.
Three of us , from West Cornwall GC , drove up early and had a very friendly welcome from Jon in the pro shop. We then had a large breakfast which was really tasty.
We then did some putting , a couple of swings in the net and teed off in sunshine.
We all played reasonably well , the course was excellent, greens a little slower than our home course but very good.
A drink in the welcoming bar and an end to a perfect day.
Will definitely be back
Relaxed golf
Our 3 ball arrived early for a12.50 tee.
Jon in the pro shop was very friendly and helpful.
The shop had a good selection of goodies.
The bar /restaurant manager , and his staff ,were also friendly and very helpful.
Had a full English breakfast , which was more than anticipated and good huskily.
The course was in super condition
The greens were a little slower than our home course (West Cornwall ) but ran true.
We were never under any pressure and all the golfers we encountered on the course were very friendly.
A nice pint after , rounded up a really chilled and enjoyable round of golf.
All social distancing rules applied and were followed by all.
Our handicaps are 13, 13 and 21
Greens absolutely awful
Played a twilight round after work, 2ball handicap of 7 & 11 and members of Tenby golf club. Not sure what the greenkeepers do with the greens but it felt like a pitch and putt greens, some of the worst I’ve ever played on. Course is laid out well with almost every hole tree lined and blind shots of your in the semi. Good course to learn on or if your out for a social with the lads. Cannot get over how bad the greens are wouldn’t ever play again.
Great course
Had a fantastic day at launceston apart from something in the carpark puncturing my tyre but cest la vie... the course was is great condition and it is a challenging place to play. The course pro was friendly and helpful and I've ended up booking a lesson with him... so will be back as soon as I get my tyre changed lol
Friendly and beautiful
What a beautiful course. Can’t wait to play it again, would probably wait until summer time though. Lovely layout with some amazing holes and the greens that were in play were very good. Few negatives but only due to time of year. Course was close to marshland in places and 50% of greens were temporary greens, some too small. Overall though would definitely visit again.
