Lovely views in a nice layout
The course was in good condition and the greens were great, especially during this dry weather we have been having. The views were very nice from almost any part of the course. There were many memorable holes although some of these were due to the slopes and hills. If you struggle a little with hard walking, I would suggest booking a buggy. I feel using a buggy would make the round so much more rewarding.
Extremely picturesque location
One has to really give much thought to each shot, with club selection being of paramount importance. Although not a long course, anyone scoring low here will have truly earned their post-round drink! It is unlike, any other course I have played, which makes it worth a visit, but beginners will find it extremely tough!
I enjoyed the challenge
Beautiful country side, the course is in great condition but very technical with many decisions to be made before each shot.
I thoroughly recommend it.
A True Test
You cant visit/live in this area without ticking Matlock GC off your list. A true test with gorse, heather, carries and wonderful views all proving a distraction.
Greens were marked in places but pins positioned well away. Fairways also varied in quality and feel with varying grass types. Worth purchasing a strokesaver and downloading the Pro's tips.
