Perfect Golf Day Photo submitted by t1457828157 on 05/12/2019
Good views
A very good mix of holes and some great views when you get to the 8th and 9th holes. Will worth the £20 for a Saturday afternoon after the comps
Real gem
Real good course very strenuous course 6, 7. & 8 are a real slog but course in immaculate condition saying it’s was beginning of autumn. Staff were great very friendly as to members on the course. Had a little trouble with a two ball playing multiple shots but well worth the money (go after 2:30 seems to be quite after that)
2 ball
Lovely course with very good greens, would recommend a buggy unless you are pretty fit especially on the front 9 which is quite hilly.
Hope you’ve had your 4 Shredded Wheat
This is a slog of a course condition is extra special but the climb up from 6th to the 8th green is exhausting but luckily I was a late tee off time. The 12th is the other way a straight down (hard to control your trolley be warned) but a stunning hidden gem with excellent greens and generous fairways for the high handicapper, well worth a visit and well worth the £20 for a late tee off time, just be warned not a flat course AT ALL..
Good course
Good course, very hilly for the first 9, quite difficult. The back 9 is definitely better. Green condition was Ok. Views are stunning.
Mellor Golf
One of the best, budget friendly courses I've played. Only negative was some of the fairways were super undulating from the slices they put in. Other than that, very good.
Please take note.
Off the beaten track a great setting features and views.
We played on a busy visitor Sunday morning following a large competition the day before I assume with prize and signage still on every hole. Really glad I’ve played this but tuff at points and extremely hilly track.
Positives , fantastic greens, good course mapping and signage..
front 7/8 holes really good and challenging.
13-18 same whilst 16th being a good holes are tight.
Hazards stacks and yardages excellent.
Tight challenging holes.
Niggles. 9-10-11-12 very very hilly, quite dangerous holes, layout is tight and blind. More signage, direction and warnings lots of holes are in line of tee boxes.
Negatives. Around 9-12 we were almost hit by 4 balls at speed just missing us, late four shouts didn’t help it is carnage to many holes in a tight space. Added the very steep inclines, hills and lack of course knowledge made it quite dangerous. The 12th is super hole but boarders dangerous especially is winter and wet weather.
13 onwards soon settled my thoughts until 16th. Tight up to 15th/17th balls fly across fairways again made it quite dangerous.
All in all this isn’t for everyone it’s a tough walk. To hilly and hidden dangers I’m not sure I’ll return.
However great views and greens were fantastic
Shop is small and I did say it’s our first trip here so do you have any tips.. at this point the hidden holes, course blindness and hills should have been explained. Missed opportunity, more signage is needed around these holes. shop has a small range and basics you need.
Nets and chipping area are good enough with plenty of parking.
Bar - great menu and staff, elevated above ground with a variety of seating, sky sports and pool table
8/10 but wouldn’t return
Great course. Fantastic value for money.
Was our first time playing this course. Played a 3 ball and was blown away with the course quality. The weather was glorious also but the fairways and greens were immaculate and for what we paid to play, it was incredible value for money. Will definitely be returning and even though I am 55 minute drive from the club, I am seriously considering becoming a member.
Other members and staff where extremely friendly and welcoming in the clubhouse
Great course
Great course, played here many times. Greens where best I've seen them and very, very quick. Didn't use the clubhouse after due to length of round. Seniors Open being played with last group going out tee time before us. So slow it was silly. Members behind us walked off. Understand they are in a competition but good manners would say play through. The group in front of us had two clear holes in front of them.
Spoiled a good day.
Evening round
Played this course solo with a 6 pm tee off. Course in excellent nick and fairly quiet at that time of day. Quite a hairy course, boat very well laid out and some challenging holes. Playing off a handicap of 24 shot a very satisfying 89. Even though the course is physically demanding would thoroughly recommend, although no pro shop open at that time (unsurprisingly), so had to play with an old scorecard and my England golf app.
Hidden gem!!
First time playing Mellor as a 4 ball, shame the weather wasn’t great but the course was stand out. Incredibly hilly and incredible views. If you’re considering playing Mellor do it, you won’t regret it.
We played Cavendish today and my playing partners preferred Mellor
