April 2025
Good:
- Nice and quiet course, even on a bank holiday Monday
- Staff in the shop were super friendly and helpful
- Interesting course layout and no two holes felt the same
Bad:
- Had an 8:12 tee time and the bar wasn't open for food or drinks until after we started
- Driving range didn't open until 9am so we couldn't warm up
- Course could use some better signage as it isn't clear where to go at times
- Greens were probably the worst I've ever played; terrible surface (other courses played earlier in the year were much better), the pin right by the edge on every hole which made pitching and putting a nightmare
- Stroke index seemingly arbitrary and didn't align with the difficulty of the holes at all
Wouldn't rush back here, plenty of better courses around London for the same/lower price
Affordable
A very affordable golf course for the senior and the course condition is very good.
Golf day
The course was in a decent condition, although the greens were in a terrible condition due to the coring that has taken place. . I understand this needs to be carried out but this should be reflected in the price of the round
Very slow pace of play and greens in terrible state
All the greens had been aerated recently and were almost unplayable, yet I was still charged £33 for a round.
The course was rammed and, the pace of play was ridiculously slow.
Terrible Greens
Great driving range and really nice friendly staff, but sorry guys the course is not in good condition, fairways were dry with rock hard bare patches in many places. The greens were in terrible condition full of holes, sand and mud, pretty much unplayable.
Also a lot of very slow play with people who are possibly new to golf, nothing wrong with that as long as they recognise etiquette and understand the basic rules
The Oaks.
greens and fringes were not in the best condition, probably due to the time of year and the recent poor weather.
Overall the course played well however and was good value.
Bang average
More of a field with sticks in it. Do not play in winter - mud bath. Greens were so wet, foot imprints all over it, don’t think a pitch mark had ever been repaired. It’s a cheap round for a reason. Range is very good though and worth going there as facilities are good. Nice pro shop as well.
Very muddy course
The course layout and difficulty was fine for someone with a higher HCP. Some challenging holes and others easier to give a good balance to those trying to reduce their HCP.
However the drainage is awful! The course was very muddy and the greens didn't seem to be very well looked after. Lots of divots on the greens (?) and the temporary tee mats were in poor condition. The paths were very muddy and slippery.
I have played Oaks in the autumn and it was fine then, and i believe it will be good during the summer too, but the winter months are not so great.
Also, when you have a muddy course and you know your trolley and shoes will get muddy then please make sure the air cleaners are working well! These ran out of "puff" after a few seconds which left you unable to clean your equipment.
Nice course but poor etiquette
Slow play, as no concept of allowing faster players through seems to exist!
And repairing pitch marks was lacking/non existent, which caused greens to be badly pockmarked , esp as many were very wet & soft. Also multiple worm casts and other dirt on the greens - hopefully better in summer🤞
Bad Weather Impact
Played for the first time this year. Disappointed to have found all holes were played from mats and all tee boxes removed. The greens were heavily saturated with rain and very slow. Lots of pitch marks covered each green. Paths were unswept and covered in thick mud.
On arrival I found the practice putting green had been removed for renovation, but was not informed by staff when I checked in on arrival.
Course was generally kept well, however the signage, benches and litter bins were very dated and in need of replacement.
Over booked and busy golf now
Course I have played hundreds of times - it was really busy and backed up - mixed abilities meant pace would slow and bunch up losing rhythm. Took 2 hrs to almost complete hole 8 so walked off. Perfect storm of a beautiful day and the cold changing. Pace was the only thing - all the people you bunch up with or behind you are respectful and make conversation - a lovely club.
Bargain for £25!
Overall, a really enjoyable course. Super friendly staff and the players I spoke with.
Front 9 was slow.
Back 9 much faster.
Course was in pretty good condition concerning the weather we've had recently. Would recommend.
Big bonus is the driving range!
Also... £25 is so cheap plus only £5 for a push trolley. Fantastic
Oaks Park Golf Carshalton
Great local public course, staff are lovely. It’s generally fairly busy but they keep the course in pretty good condition considering the footfall. DoNOT book through golf now they add £10 more than booking direct serious annoyed!
Always a pleasure playing the oaks
A pleasure to play the oaks course
Some lovely and difficult holes to play
The place is so beautiful
I shall return
Nice overall
Pace of play was a little slow, but afternoon on a bank holiday so kind of expected. Overall very nice staff and lovely course
