First time playing with the new layout, short tight challenging course pretty much an iron of every tee as the rough is thick when your offline only took driver on the par 5 . The new greens still need a bit of time to become as good as the existing and same with the new fairways. Definitely Be back again in the future.
Remodelled Course Playing Well
Played course for first time since remodelled holes & layout with new houses & changes to hills..
Layout now much better & new holes bedding in well - though can be very tight in places where tees & greens crossover.
3 players with 19-24 handicaps scoring 29-35pts, so is a fair test - with only 1 par5, and a good number of reachable par4s..Round under 4 hrs.
Greens were fast & good quality - some bunkers GUR, and a few areas of new grass establishing, but.course condition still very good.
Practice area now used for car parking, and bar/veranda area looked small & busy so not used.
Great value so will play again & happy to recommend.
Great course
First time playing Prestwich 18 holes. They have still some work to do on upgrading tee details as they have only basic numbers on holes at present. We played late Friday and we didn’t really have any hold ups. Some greens are new and still establishing, but overall very good. They are a bit smaller than you would expect but a great course to jump on and get some golf in.
Fantastic course with a great new layout
My first visit since the new course layout opened. The new design has really enhanced the already enjoyable course which boasts fantastic views and plenty variety throughout. Such a welcoming, friendly club. Phil in the club shop took the time to talk me through the full new course layout at arrival, and went above and beyond to locate me on the course after a member found my wallet. (Thank you all!) I highly recommend a round at Prestwich Golf Club.
Love the new Course layout
I was a member here many years ago,it’s always been a challenging course, fairways and greens are still Very well looked after, the course has been open around 6 weeks after having a huge one million pound makeover, and I have to say it’s the best course layout prestwich has ever had, this is a course not to be missed.
Professional
Insisted on us being in a four ball with two strangers event though the course was fairly quiet.
Great little course!
First time back since it’s new makeover and I wasn’t disappointed. Some holes will take time to mature and will definitely be back to play again he course again. The course was quiet so the crossover tees was no problem, can’t comment on the clubhouse facilities as didn’t use it, but staff at golf shop and on the course were all all polite and gave out good advice. Can’t wait to play this course again!!!
Course designer and green keepers..take a bow!
Well worth the money they've invested in redesigning this course. Fairways and greens immaculate. The greens are the best and most challenging I've played this summer. The course is such a challenge for such a small course and not the forgiving type where you can hit your driver and hope that your slice or draw off the tee will keep you in play... it won't! If you can hit straight off the tee then you'll be on green in 2 on the par 4s.
Took 3 hours to complete with a 3 ball and no hold ups.
Just need to complete the bunker repairs but apart from that, superb.
Shot my best score!
Loved the course as suited my style of play, obviously undergoing a renovation so bits need some work, but they are well underway to making a tidy little course. Very short so enjoyed it a lot! Oh I got an eagle on a par 4, so will play again just because of that!
Good course, but short and hilly
Good course with some challenging holes. It is short and very hilly. Lots of holes that cross over each other and what seemed to be a change in layout as there was new signage which sometimes made it difficult to find the next hole. Friendly members pointed us in the right direction.
Challenging course
First time here, definitely a challenging but fun course to play.
New layout
Prestwich has had a new layout with new and remodelled holes being created. The overall course is excellent, fast green, challenging golf with friendly and welcoming.staff.
I am a beginner so the holes were challenging, the course definitely provides something for golfers of all abilities
The pace of play can be slow as some holes have crossover points with tees near other greens or other tees, however everyone was patient and it gave us an opportunity to talk with other golfers.
Overall, a great day out
Amazing renovation - very enjoyable course
Incredible redevelopment job on this course. From May 2020 this is a totally different course to the one that used to be here. I used to play here a few years ago but moved out of town. Got my first game on the new course there today and it really is excellent. Dodgy weather which is par for course, but the new layout has some of the best designed greens I’ve ever played on. It’s a lot different to how it used to be - the slightly more bonkers holes (which I always used to like actually, but not to everyone’s tastes) which could ruin your round have been removed, replaced by some short but spectacular risk and reward holes. Lots of changes in elevation, well designed bunkering and some amazing green complexes keep it interesting Don’t let the lengths on the scorecard fool you, you’ve got to play incredibly tight to keep a low score on the short par 4s, but everyone’s got a chance. Eagle opportunities for the best players, but plenty of decent chances for a par for part-timers (just make sure you’ve practiced your putting). This is a really fun course, the greenskeepers and management have done an outstanding job here. Definitely now my favourite course in the bury/north Manchester area and will be my go-to choice in future.
Pros: Staff are great, Greens superbly designed and play well, speed of play very fast, lots of risk and reward, fun golf!
Cons: If you’re a big hitter and like bombing that driver 280+ then not too many chances for that here, get the irons out!
Worth a try
Booked as a Hot Deal so good value for money. Proffesional was very helpful. Course originally an 18 hole, now 9 hole taken from a combination of the 18 whilst work carried out. As a result a bit untidy to play, could'nt work out most of the yardages, greens good condition, so of tee boxes poor, very tight course in places, teeing off over greens, adjacent fairways very close. I imagine in its day itmade a very playable 18 hole course, perhaps struggles with the same appeal as a 9 holer
Prestwich Golf course
The course was in great condition considering they are having major reconstruction of the course. Members were very helpful and pleasant. The Professional and his colleagues were also very helpful. I would definitely recommend this course.
Had a most enjoyable round of golf at Prestwich. Weather was perfect and we only passed one other person playing. As the course was dry, the ball travelled some distance. It is not a long course and there are a number of holes were it is possible, for someone of my ability, to score a birdie or certainly a par.
Poor
Much better courses available in Manchester. Few holes crossed over others and had to cross paths and walks to get to others.
Some fairways when you teed off were very tight plus housing was very close to a number of the holes. Not good for wayward shots!
I would not recommend
