Very fair and challenging course
As a former member here I was very pleased to get a great offer from GolfNow to play here again. The course is a fair and challenging test and was in very good condition, especially the bunkers which were of a very high standard, perhaps I saw a bit too much of them for my liking but there you are.
Slow play
4 ball in front to our two ball, they were playing of the white tees for some reason. Looking for balls left and right all the time, never once said Play through or rang the bells. Laughing out load when we was teeing off on the tee next to them. I’m only playing to have fun and enjoy the game. But these fu%#ing idiots ruin it for others.. not really sure anything can be done.
Lovely
Played for the first time at Skylark. A lot of thought has gone in to the layout and the course has a fantastic variety of holes and difficulty level. The greens and bunkers are in superb condition.
My only gripe is that you have to check in in the bar area. It feels like a bit of an afterthought. An actual shop would be better. The barman has a queue of people waiting for drinks and also a queue waiting to check in.
Friendly staff
Very friendly and helpful staff both in the bar when we confirmed our arrival and the starter on the first tee.
The course was in good condition and the greens were in excellent shape.
Only negative was the course was very busy on the weekday we played, which made for a slow round with lots of hanging around on the tees, although this did allow us to chat with some friendly members.
Social golf day
Skylark is an excellent course if you are not a long hitter. There are ponds and ditches to avoid. Greens are excellent. My main bug bear is the use of buggies on golf courses when you are walking.Group behind us were no better golfers than us and we had group in front of us. A couple of times they hit the ball through us without being called up. Would certainly play the course again though.
Course in good condition
Not the longest but much improved course I’ve the past couple of years
Unable to make any comments as we only played five holes due to torrential rain .
Only played 5 holes due to the heavy rain. Greens covered with water. Would like to play the course again.
Too Bad!
Lovely course but far too wet. A lot of the course was unplayable and at least half of the holes had temporary greens in place. Drainage still an issue.
Major Improvements
Having played this course regularly over a number of years the current improvements have made a great difference to the round. The fairways are cut to a good length, the greens were receptive and a good pace.
Stunning course
Always enjoy playing at Skylark, some challenging holes but really worth playing for all handicap levels
Improving Course and Friendly Members
Played alone on a lovely sunny day - until some members asked me to join them. Very friendly and improved my day. This was my second time playing this course and it continues to be improved. Not long but enough hills, bunkers, doglegs, ditches and lakes to make every shot interesting. Speed of play was excellent - well under 4 hours and the greens were perfect, so overall an excellent day out.
Perhaps the only downside was the staff in the bar/proshop who where a little offhand - didn't all seem to be in tune with golfers somehow. Just a job to them. But no big issue..
Skylark golf course
Alot of work going on on the course alot of bunkers being worked on .staff were great will be a nice course once the work is finished .looking forward to going back once done.
Skylark
Pleasent location, a lot of work being done with drainage, the course hasn't fully recovered from this yet ,small trenches where the ground has sunk, most of the bunkers are GUR work in progress .
Only a few bunkers in play on the whole course, wasn't told this before we booked. Overall a lovely course
Great Short Course
A great short course that has improved significantly over the last few years. It's a shame that all the greens and tees were temporary with no reduction in green fee.
