Course should be closed

Booked through golf now after phone call about course conditions. Arrived next day to play to find gates locked, contacted what I assume was the pro shop to be informed that the course is open access from driving range next door.

Walked across 11th fairway to get to club house (closed) headed to first tee and played our 4 ball. Fairways not cut and very wet, greens in very poor condition.

The course should have been closed, if the staff had been honest about the course when I enquired on Tuesday I would have booked alternate course. Very disapointed with Boothferry.

Revisit after many years

The course was in terrible condition.

Robotic mowers couldn't cope with the long wet grass and we saw several just sitting on the fairways not doing anything.

We saw 5 other people playing in the 5 hours we were there, that says it all.

Trust me... don't bother playing

This course is closer to a farmers field than it is a golf course, stay away

Very poor maintenance

Firstly, the greens are a disgrace. You would usually clean your ball before a putt not afterwards. They should really put temporary greens in place. The ladies tee boxes are not maintained, bunkers are just depressions with weeds in the bottom and we managed to lose a ball on the fairway due to the amount of twigs and leaves. There's no-one running the clubhouse so no food or drinks. It's a shame as it could be a nice course.

Course in poor condition

I played this course on Saturday for the first time in a few years as I remembered it been a very good course, however weather it's changed hands or the owners just can't be bothered i don't know as the course in my opinion it practically unplayable!!! The tee boxes are like playing out of the rough, the fairways are the same and although there is a slight definition between fairways and rought it is only slight, I don't think they have a green keeper as there are just lots of robotic mowers dotted about the course, the greens are dead and cracked so there is no point in trying to putt, overall I would not play here again and would definitely not recommend it to anyone else.

Nice course with a good variety of challenges

Lovely course did the first 9 holes. Unfortunately there were a lot of leaves on the first few holes of the course which made it difficult to see the ball and due to weather conditions the ground was very dry and cracked at the green. However we did enjoy the length of the course and in these weather conditions it cannot be helped. Would recommend to others as there was a good variety of challenges and lively setting.

Dreadful

So sad to see the course is in terrible condition. The greens were horrific. Most unplayable. Fairways not much better. Waste of time and money.

This is dire!

This course looks as if it's just been abandoned and left for nature to reclaim.

The fairways are mostly indistinguishable, the tees (especially the ladies tees) aye mostly overgrown with weeds and long grass. The greens are mostly just brown parched earth with fissure almost wide enough to lose a ball!

The whole course is littered with autonomous mowers that seem to have given up the ghost, and just stopped mid fairway in some places... some time ago, looking at the state of the place.

Bunkers are mostly like concrete. Where they're not concrete like, they are just overgrown with weeds.

I'd booked and paid for 18 holes, but after the front nine, we gave it up as a bad job.

If there had been anyone still in the shop when we finished the front nine, I'd have demanded my money back, it was that bad! And I'd booked it as a Hot Deal through Golf Now.

Don't waste your time and money!

Boothferry golf club

I get there is a shortage to water at present, but the fact most of the greens was littered with leaves and twigs was beyond what I was expecting, robot mowers all good but some kind of maintenance is needed when machinery malfunctions, and when leaving was wanting to purchase a drink but everything was locked up, first golf course that shuts before last players leave. Any accidents would result in fatality I would assume. Overall won’t be going back unless it’s taken pride of

Poor Upkeep to a once lovely course

I played this course some years ago when I lived nearby. The last 2 times I have been (this year) I found the course to be woefully neglected. Firstly there were no buggies available to hire - the reason being they had np fuel in them - really???? Yes we have had a dry spring and summer but the greens are in appalling condition - cracked and grassless - they resemble concrete drives rather than golf greens. The fairways are cut??? by automatic robo mowers and they don't work. The Tee Off areas are overgrown so it is like teeing off from the rough. Bunkers are in poor condition with lots of them having grass growing in them or the sand is rock solid. The club house isn't open for a drink after finishing a round - why? Overall I am sad to be leaving this review as it was bad earlier this year when I played but gave it another chance to see if the owners had done any work to start to turn the course around but they I'm afraid they haven't. Such a shame for a once beautiful course.

Good value for money

Lovely course and affordable. The greens are not the best but it’s had a long wet winter and a really dry spell recently so struggling to keep it alive . That said for the price we paid we had a great round and the staff and the location were lovely. Definitely play again

Don't waste your money

For the price you can go to other courses around the area that are far better looked after. The greens are a disaster (more weeds than grass) they have electric mowers which I think they've used to completely get rid of a green keeper this place needs a major overhaul

On a plus side the lad in the shop was sound and pace of play was fantastic seeing as there was nobody there.

Needs work

I’ve played this course several times over the years and I like the layout but it needs some attention to it . Fairways and tee’s were ok but the bunkers and greens are poor . Needs a greenkeeper to sort it out and not rely on the machines
