South Shields Golf Club

Hadn't played here for years, but played a few times this summer and love it. Friends agree - currently favorite course to play in Tyne&Wear.

Enjoyed the round although it was very windy and wind seemed to be either with or against every hole. Some Par 4's very long yet both Par 5's short and easily reachable in 2 for good players (not me!). Lady in clubhouse friendly and sandwiches excellent - my friend knows his food. Will definitely return - highly recommended.

This course is probably the best value for money this side of Newcastle, well kept course where the rough is very forgiving, friendly staff and we'll run club considering the current state of covid restrictions

Firstly the members and staff are friendly and welcoming from the off. I played a round with two members Sandy and Roger. Two great lads. Quick witted and always ready to give advice on where to play your shot. The course itself is well laid out and fantastically maintained. Greebs were immaculate. Pace of play was slow due to a two ball who obviously thought they were in a playoff gor the Open. All in all a great day. Definitely will be back!

It’s the first time playing the curse and I’ll be back again for sure. The course was in great condition, the greens were fast despite the rain and I was impressed at the condition of the tee box on every hole. It’s a great course with some fantastic views.

Great and fair course, good mix of hole lengths. Lovely greens although a couple on the slow side. Really busy though and did feel a little rushed at times despite only taking 3h 20m for a 3-ball. Magnificent views of the region. Excellent value for money, will return

Pce of play was a little slow but after a few holes we were waved through.

Course conditions were excellent, drainage seemed good as it had rained all day but the sun was out when we teed off. Layout was great for a golfer of my ability although some of the tee boxes could have been signposted for golfers new to the course.

Staff were friendly and helpful.

I did not use the off-course amenities therefore I can only give an average rating which i'm sure they are better than

Nice course in good condition just a shame I could only play 16 holes due to green keepers parking right in front of green then once I moved to next hole they then decided to drive to that green and do the same again

Greens and fairways in great condition. Greens were a good challenge too. Couple of little bits of confusion finding next tee but got there in the end. Could do with more 150 markers too but both minor gripes and all of our group enjoyed the course and the views

I played South Shields today for the first time. The course was in good condition with good greens and fairly dry fairways, which after yesterday's heavy and prolonged rain was quite a surprise. The course layout is good and I really enjoyed the round. The course was very busy so as a two ball we teamed up with a single member who was friendly and good company. Thanks Dave for the company and the advice.

It's a really nice course set on top of the Cleadon Hills with extensive views of the coast and surrounding area, if I had a choice between this and the golf course next door I would choose this one every time.

I will play this again soon.

Course staff and club members were very friendly when we arrived at the course practice putting area was maintained really well course condition was very good as was the green. You will enjoy the challenge
