Southwell Golf Club

Inside a racecourse for the front nine with a very nice Par 3. You play off mats seemingly all year round off the red and yellow tees. Knowledgable club shop pro and friendly members. Greens are in excellent condition.

Course was in great condition, a real course of two halves and a great test. Friendly staff and members always enjoyable.

Booked this course last minute when away on a work trip. When i arrived the site appears unmanned, i couldnt find anyone to speak to.I managed to locate the 1st tee box thanks to my 18 birdies app. the front 9 are quite open and the wind made play tricky. The fairways are not mown close. May just be the time of year and following an extended dry period.

Back 9 is more wooded which i enjoyed more. At the time of visiting the greens were in good condition. they were playing quite slow which worked well for me.

i tee'd off at 1640 at the start of September and there was barely any other golfers to be seen which made for a good quick round as a 1 ball.

the course was good value and for a quick round i would reccommend but dont expect a championship course.

We play this once a year and tbh last year condition the course wasn’t good. But there’s been a change in green keepers and we was pleasantly surprised, the course looked amazing and the greens where in a different league to last year. 19th hole was great, the staff were friendly and attentive…Thank you

Excellent greens great value for the money (BRILLIANT)

The courses greens and fairways were brilliant, Great course.

Great value for money, conditions were great and the course has been kept well. Tight first 9 inside the racecourse and then the more woodland back 9 made it nice and varied.

If you want to use every club in the bag and test your game this is for you

Friday is always dead apparently, short course which front 9 feels slightly crammed in but back 9 is superb. You see the overall yardage and think you’ll rip the course up but you have to plot your way round. Really enjoyed it, all the greens are elevated which makes them tough as if you land on the challenge is to stay on. Course was in great condition and for £20 it was superb value, one 3 ball who I caught up in 4 holes but let me straight through as I was playing solo.

Played this course for the first time today . Very surprised and well maintained , the first 9 was inside the racecourse each hole has it challenges especially the holes involving water . Back 9 is good aswell with only one temp green used. Well worth the money, don’t be deceived by the first 9 being inside a racecourse . Definitely will be going again .

Lovely course, shame it was so wet, should have been closed really.

I would recommend the course, but if it's wet avoid it.

Having read the reviews mostly over 2 years ago once known has a micky mouse golf club compared to other clubs in the area well i can tell you now that mouse has grown up and turned into a lion this course is easy to play but hard to beat , with new groundstaff, a great committee who wants the best for there golf club, golf clubhouse refurbishment a great pro , a mens ladies and senior sections and the cheapest 7 day membership around this golf course is a hidden gem and golf membership is growing fast not a course you just hit the all has far as you can you've have to think ,so much so you won't beat it as you stand on the 1st tee a 200 yard par 3 you can hear a voices say ing. WELCOME to the LIONS DEN recommend highly a total difference experience. Good luck

Fantastic course at Southwell racecourse, greens and fairways in a great condition considering the lack of rain recently, will definitely be back!

I played at Southwell golf course for the first time and I think it’s a brilliant course for the price. I paid £17.99 for 18 holes which I think is excellent value for the money. The course didn’t have a driving range but did have some practice nets near the 1st Tee. The man in the Golf shop was very friendly and welcoming which was nice to see and they have an excellent selection of golf equipment and also so very well priced second hand clubs as I brought myself a second hand 60 degree Nike wedge for £30. I will be definitely be returning to this course and I would recommend to anyone.

Front 9 is awful, back 9 in the woods is better but over all the course isn’t maintained. Bunker surrounds are all overgrown, tee boxes have no grass and not even.

For someone who hasn’t played there for 15 yrs, I had to ask where the 1st tee was and the 10th. No signage and that theme continues through out.

Won’t be back.

Great course. Fairways in great condition. Greens need a bot of tlc. But overall great 18 holes. Staff very polite and friendly. Drinks in bar are great price compared to other golf clubs. Definitely making another trip to the course soon.
