Hidden Gem
I played this course having read mixed reviews.
In my experience the course was a pleasure to play.
Well designed taking advantage of the land available.
There are different challenges throughout and in breezy conditions its a tough test.
I found the greens in great condition. It wasn't easy to get the pace right but that's part of the challenge.
The only downside is the yellow tees are in poor condition especially on the front 9 but I am sure that can be rectified and didn't stop the enjoyment.
Well worth a visit
Early morning bird
I played early morning tee the weather was cloudy but no wind, beautiful course, great grass course and greens well maintained, definitely would recommend to give a shot 👍👍🙏
Great course
Arrived quite early, very friendly man in the pro shop (was told after he was the owner) said we could go out earlier if any gaps, went for a coffee in a very nice cafe like clubhouse.
Course was fantastic, greens were great, very open course where you can have a lash with driver most holes.
Slow 3 ball holding up the course unfortunately.
This was my second visit, went in November in a very wet period and course was remarkabley playable despite that.
This time weather was great the course was great so the 3 muskateers didn't annoy as much as if the weather was poor.
Would definately go again and recommend.
Good course so far
Very good course , good pace and well maintained course
Great course
Great course. Played on a really sunny and still day and when they conditions are like that, Staining Lodge is perfect.
Great pro shop, lovely range, drink afterwards and overall a challenging, open, fun course for everyone. Testing but playable.
Don’t play here
Course in terrible condition, Tees, Fairways and greens.
Slow play was horrific and I walked off after 4 holes.
Not Great Experience
I recently had the unfortunate experience of playing at Staining Lodge Golf Course, and I must say it was a disappointing outing. This course is more of a pay-and-play council facility, and it was evident that it caters primarily to beginner golfers. Unfortunately, this resulted in an excessively slow pace of play.
We waited an excruciating 20 minutes at the third par 3 because the group in front, having already completed the hole, decided to chip and putt on the green multiple times. It was frustrating to see them hold up play while we were all waiting.
Additionally, the condition of the course left much to be desired. The tee boxes were uneven and poorly maintained, which detracted from the overall experience. On the first hole, the fairway was littered with balls from the driving range, making it dangerous as stray balls were frequently coming down.
For £100 for two players and a buggy, I expected a much better experience. It felt like a waste of both a day and money, and I genuinely question where all the positive reviews are coming from.
To top it off, when we returned to the golf shop after our round, it was closed. We had to call for assistance, and a staff member from the restaurant came to help. Unfortunately, he had no solutions or offers to address our concerns about the golf or buggy fees.
Overall, I would not recommend Staining Lodge Golf Course unless you are looking for a very casual round with no expectations of quality. Save your money and time for a better-maintained course.
Great after rain
The course is really good and became awesome after the rain for 2 days, I would highly recommend the course. I know it’s a bit expensive but worth it 👍👍🙏
Great course reasonable price
The course is one of the best I’ve known in the area, very well maintained. The greens are very clean and well maintained too and because of the weather they are a bit fast. 19th hole is a very spacious and well built with outdoor sitting areas 👍👍
Augusta of Blackpool
Fairways, greens, tee boxes 10/10. Spent money on drainage issues which has held them back through the years but honestly in contention to be one of the best courses around, hope they keep it up
Staining 15th March
It has been, probably, around 12 months since I last played Stainings course and was pleasantly surprised. Both by the state of the course and the slight changes they have made.
The course ground was extremely firm, considering the resent weather. Also, the new pathways to certain tees. All made for. a very enjoyable afternoon.
Winter price is ridiculous
In all the course layout is good. They’ve clearly done some great work on the drainage. The fairways weren’t churned up this winter. Still don’t think it’s buggy weather though. The problem for me is the greens. They seem to be doing some work but the ball bounces around on them like crazy. Just aim at the hole. I think the price is bonkers as well. Not to mention any names, but for the same money you can play much better courses. The practice facilities are great.
Best course in Blackpool/ weeton
Best course in Blackpool area , I have been to others but not as good as this one, the course is well maintained , greens are very good the course is dry compared with the weather being like this at this time. I hardly get my trousers dirty to be honest unless it’s a rainy day of course. Overall Great value for money 👍👍🙏🙏
Best course around Blackpool
One of the best course in Blackpool area, mostly dry area even in this weather I would recommend golfers to go here, you can do a quick warmup on the driving range 75 balls for £6.50 then to the start tee box😊😊
Apologies that you weren’t informed that we were verti draining the greens. Unfortunately this is essential maintenance to ensure quality greens for the Summer season ahead. We feel that £1.25 a hole for a course with no Winter restrictions represents good value.
