Nice course
Well today was my first time playing and was greates by a nice chap at the golf shop and even though booked for walking they were able to offer us a golf cart which was a massive bonus! The course it self was in good condition there was some areas fairly boggy due to recent weather and we were advised of this aswell as some areas GUR, but overall was a good course and i will be back soon! Thanks
Not great
Cheaper to book through golf now than with the course. Course was waterlogged and very windy
Twice I’ve played here and twice I’ve packed in way before completing the course
Staining lodge
The rough hadn't been cut for a while, so if you are slightly off the fairway, it took a while to find your ball, greens were really good, fast and smooth . Definitely will be going again soon.
Super Staining
Second time at this course, tees and greens in good order, apart from the 7th and 12th which have large areas GUR. Nice coffee and cake afterwards.
Staining
It was a dry very windy day on the wednesday i played so the climate conditions were not ideal for me, the course had in areas some standing water but it was a minor thing and didnt affect my game, the fairways are generally well drained, the bunkers well sanded and the greens in great condition and played quick and im guessing at 9 ish on the stimp or close to it, one hole had extensive gur but again it didnt matter, its a good course, the views are great and you woukd think you were in the downs playing until you see blackpool tower to remind you, the clubhouse is very nice and the latte was one of the best ive ever had, it was so good
This course is a gem....
Very swampy and waterlogged also a few holes unplayable due to very bad flooding deep water
Decent enough layout but drainage must be bad as swampy and waterlogged few holes unplayable due to what looked like a lake covering a few of the holes also lost a few balls on fairway due to them plugging into ground. Also putter cover came off and no-one has handed it in as of yet so don't think I'd go back next time I'm in blackpool on holiday!!
Great course, golf shop unmanned
First time playing here, great time on the course, friendly members and staff. After the 9th we went to the golf shop to stock up on drinks and change buggy as our battery was low. Door was unlocked but no staff around waited 15 minutes after ringing the bell 4 times. Ended up having to take the cart of someone else who just finished and was waiting to hand the key back. They'd been waiting even longer than what we did. Other than being thirsty great day.
The worst I’ve ever played (close the course.)
Had a tee time for 17:08, play this course often enough and usually love playing it. Gentleman at the reception told me #7 was not to be played due to waterlogged areas. Well 6,7,11,12 and 14 were all pretty much underwater on the fairways and around the greens. Left frustrated that it was able to book under the condition, and the fact the gentleman at the reception told me it was only #7. A complete waste of money. I would like a refund. Close the course please so no one has to deal with this.
We have played the course regularly over the last couple of years. It’s a good challenge for all levels. Due to the great weather at the moment it’s more popular this year and so it is wise to book early if possible. The rates have increased so choose your times carefully if price is a consideration. Like most courses it is very dry at the moment so big drives are on offer. The greens do need some rain and work due to the hot weather. Great bar food and patio area to enjoy afterwards. Enjoy yourselves.
Slow play
Really enjoyed playing the course, there just isn’t enough space between each tee off times, so a big build up to groups slowed down play.
Good course but if I’m being picky it could do with some markets and bells as there’s a few blind shots from the tee but that’s really being picky!
Forgiving course
Lovely course for this time of year. A little wet underfoot, but expected. Very forgiving course, wide fairways, perfect for those starting out in golf.
Great condition
Amazing condition considering the time of year. Fast even greens.
Very dry and well kept greens/ fairways
Very pleasing day
Perfect for the time of year
I live local to this golf course and during winter season over the past couple of years I’d opt to play elsewhere as the conditions were better than Staining’s. After being away from golf for some time I have booked a tee time at Staining and was pleasantly surprised on its improvements, the course conditions has vastly improved, the fairways have firmed up and are withstanding continuous play throughout the week, the greens are always firm and considerably fast. The deep rough in areas can still be a bit soft under foot but that’s understandable for the time of year. I would consider it to be the best in the area for its price range, compared to other similarly priced courses. I will be happy to play here again in the future over close by courses as I feel this course has now excelled passed it’s rival courses.
Yep, I’ve seen groups nearly come to blows over slow play. Definitely need to block off a tee time or two if several 3-4balls are following each other. Walked off twice due to ridiculously slow play.
