Good summer course
Excellent course although there where a couple holes closed. Looking forward to playing it after the upgrades.
Won’t be returning
Before I begin, I was aware prior to booking on the club website regarding drainage works on holes 1 and 2 and the reconstruction of the green on the 11th. Why this wasn’t undertaken during the recent lockdown, god knows.
Firstly, tee times were an absolute lottery and I had to wait over 10 minutes from my allocated tee time to being able to tee off.
Then the fairway on the 1st was covered in balls from the adjacent range and then the 2nd is an absolute joke. What should be a decent par 4 is turned into a pitch and putt to a flag in the middle of the fairway! No temporary green cut, nothing.
The pace of play was painfully slow, especially given the twilight tee time. There was also a group of youth playing around the 18th green!
Would not recommend and will not be returning.
Thank you for your review. We hope to welcome you back again soon.

Only thing letting it down right now is the condition of the greens. Rest of the course clearly worked on a lot and shaped nicely !
Manor golf
Conditions were perfect course was in great shape ,James at reception was excellent and friendly, great day out recommended
The Manor Drighlington
The venue was excellent apart from the fact that they had no facilities for a drink after nine holes and there was no bar facility, after you had finished. It looked to me that as it was the first time I had played it there was plenty of space to set this up. Otherwise it was very well prepared. Most enjoyable. Thank you
The manor golf course
Had a great day at the manor golf course, conditions were perfect it's a well looked after course, the staff were friendly and helpful, driving range looks great also a par 3 course ,it's got everything for a good days golfing weather playing 18 holes or just honing them drives and putts, will definitely be booking there again
First Time out
First time played the course. Very easy to find. Plenty of parking and looks a good set up with a PAR 3 course and range. In good condition which following the lockdown you would expect. The only thing to mention was the grass tees not ready and playing of the winter artificial turf. Would have preferred the grass tees which due to lack of use during lockdown would or should have been untouched and ready.
The Manor
The course was in a ok condition. Playing off winter tees was poor. Unfortunately got stuck behind a 4 ball who was extremely slow. They didn’t allow me through
Course finally open!
After waiting many months to get the clubs out again, I booked the day off work in advance know today was when courses we allowed to open...
The course was in dreadful condition, every hole was played off mats, and the greens were in shocking condition, unplayable in fact!
Disappointed isn’t the word, can’t see me heading back here for a long time
Course waterlogged
The course shouldn't really be open, the conditions we good but the rain from previous days meant the course is really muddy.
Lovely Course but....
Not in great condition
Greens poor
Two holes currently unplayable
Two other holes shortened
Extremely wet, lost three balls after good shots with balls plugging.
Artificial tees
Very disappointed!!
Should have been advised pre booking that not playing as an 18 hole course..
Winter Set-Up
I like the Manor but sadly for the cost £21 I would not recommend playing it during the winter set up.
If I had known about the changes before hand I would have selected another course.
Every tee is off a mat which I hate but obviously understand when autumn comes around. The problem however, is that the majority of the mats were nowhere near the official tees making some of the holes considerably shorter in distance
Holes 10 and 11 are no longer in play. Hole 2 has been reduced in distance by half making it effectively a pitch and put with a winter green with a bucket size hole cut into the fairway.
You do get the option to play holes 1 and 2 again to complete 18 holes
The staff and clubhouse are excellent but it will be next summer before I book the Manor again
Well Maintained, Value for Money
Great course layout. Well maintained including the bunkers. The greens are nice. Every tee box has a clear hole layout and its general distances. It does help a lot and save time. Well done, the Manor.
Thank you for your review and feedback. I am sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your visit to The Manor and the round of golf you played.
The drainage works to the 1st & 2nd fairways and the construction of the new green on the 11th have been in the planning for well over a year with our course architect. The specialist contractors have been booked in the diary since September last year and this is by far the most extensive improvement work we have carried out since the course opened 25 years ago.
The reason the work was not carried out during lockdown is that major drainage and construction projects must be carried out in the summer months, May been the earliest month they regard as summer. We would have loved to carry out all this work during lockdown but it would have gone against all the professional advice & guidance we have received. We know having a temporary green on the 2nd hole is far from ideal, especially in summer but the alternative would have been to close the hole completely which our members committee voted against in favour of the temporary.
We made it clear on our booking system that these holes would be playing to temporary greens and the green fee was reduced to reflect this. We also made it clear that if you were not happy with this situation to not book and play somewhere else.
In terms of tee times, like every golf course, we have experienced exceptional demand. Tee times have been under severe pressure and at peak times these sometimes get behind, in your case 10 minutes. I appreciate this gets you off to a bad start especially when the pace of play is also running slow. We do have course Marshalls to police this and we would encourage anyone to phone the pro shop and report any problems so we can resolve them asap. Again in terms of youths hanging around the 18th green this is not within our control however if it is reported to the Pro shop we can then try to move them on.
Once again I am sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your round with us and hope you find another course to play that better matches your expectations.
Kind regards,
Andrew Cook – Manager
