Challenging Course
Staying in the area and thought we would give this course a try. First impressions were I was very surprised how hilly the course was. Glad we booked bookies as we had a few elderly members in our group. The holes are tricky with lots of up and down fairways and cross falls Had to play a few blind shots using the on course markers as the green flags were hidden. A couple of ditches cross some of the holes and our lack of knowledge of the course made it difficult to work out shot positions. A few holes are close together so imagine it could be a problem with loose shots if the course is busy. Novelty having the race course next door but an enjoyable round I would play there again but definitely get a buggy
Stunning course with some really tricky holes
Had a fantastic round and the course conditions were great, Greens were a little bit slow but I suspect this is due to being cut slightly longer due to the current heat and this maintenance showed as thier overall condition was amazing and some of the best I've seen in the area.
Highly recommend this course and have already booked my next round.
Riding the Slopes.
Very hilly course especially back 9. Due to dry conditions a lot of ball run off on slopes.
Always grest views of Racecourse.
What is an issue, is they have flags all over front 9 for FOOTGolf.!!! This is visually not good.
ok so here we go
Welcome on arrival was good but although we were early and there were no groups in front of us for 20 mins were told we could not tee off early. The biggest issue was the foot golf flags which we were not told about and made the first few holes confusing for somebody who last played there five or six years ago, suggestion would be to take them out when you are not using them for foot golf! However with the negative stuff out of the way the course is a good challenge and was in good condition.
Needs work
A good course but the greens need work and money ,they are in desperate need of sanding to iron out the bumps and indentations
Beautiful Course
One of, if not the nicest courses I've played in Staffordshire. Some beautiful holes, especially the par 3 12th. Challenging but not too difficult with well-looked-after greens. Beautiful views I to Uttoxeter and the wider countryside. Staff and other members were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely return.
Interesting
Nice golf course. Quite short but nonetheless challenging in places. Played on a Thursday morning and unfortunately caught up with a 3 ball of members on the 12th who appeared to think they owned the course. They were 4 holes ahead of us when we started. Absolutely no chance of playing through so we gave up and walked in.
Great value for money
The greens were not good but it's the beginning of the season so they will get better
It's a a good up and down course and challenges your ability to hit straight ttee shots and distance control
Great views, quite a pretty cousre
I would happily recommend the course
Uttoxeter
Greens fine considering that we are just leaving winter course very good credit to the staff
Nice undulating course
Played this course because course originally booked canceled round duy to very wet course conditions, I found this course and gave them a call to check if play was able or their were any restrictions, I was informed it was just the front nine, which was not a problem, upon arrival was greeted in a friendly manner. I was quite surprised as course has a lot of evaluation change and looks very picturesque because of this, actual course conditions were very good, it was muddy but still very playable, you can see this would be a very good golf course in dry conditions, greens were very good, still running at a good speed and very true. Due to elevation and conditions my cart battery was flat at end of round, this to me is a good sign this place is a challenge which we enjoyed
Great course with views
The game was excellent. The course, given the time of year, was in great condition with the greens of real note. The layout is good with some tricky hole shapes. Odd hole tees off across another hole / tee. The pro was friendly and welcoming, providing free mats for fairway play. The person in the bar was warm, friendly and provided a superb snack late in the afternoon.
Great day all round!
Very slow play
Very slow play, booked a tee time yet players teed off 30 seconds before me, by the time we played the 8th 4 groups were playing the same hole, gave up at this point
Nice course in rolling hills
Nicely laid out "club" course in the hills/slopes above and adjacent to the race course. Quite a few blind holes, which present challenges, but we managed to stay close to the group in front , which was a great help. Beware SI1, there's a flipping great chasm that you can't see.
We thoroughly enjoyed the round and consider it good value for money. However, it was a bit of a surprise to be told on arrival that the course was wet so we had to carry a mat and use it in all general play areas. Additionally, we learned that the members were having a "Greenkeeper's Revenge" competition so half of the tee positions would be in virtually impossible positions. We weren't upset by these issues but I could imagine some visitors being quite upset. It would be worthwhile forewarning peoples so they could consider playing at a different time.
Place has turned into a complete joke
Decides to cancel buggies when we arrived, then changed their minds 10 mins later, followed a 6 ball around , foot golf flags right next to the greens, walked off after 9 , used to be a decent course, will not be returning
What an experience
First course visit and met with a nice Staff welcone. Good advice and direction provided to get around the course. The course was very mature with an excellent tree lines and scenic views which were all depicted in the drone videos of the course ... worth considering
