Nice course
A nice course, some interesting holes, can be challenging in places. The course layout is very good, some very steep hills in places so if you struggle walking get a buggy.
Really enjoyed the round, the course was in very good condition and the greens were great.
The only downside was the pace of play stuck behind a four ball that were at snail pace, and completely oblivious to our two ball, we had to ask eventually if we could play through, which they let us albeit not very happily!!
But I would definatley play the course again and a nice bacon sandwich at the halfway house!
Great course
Great course with well needed half way house as front 9 is challenging and hilly. Great views and the course conditions were good, greens are in very good shape.
Good variety of holes
Played on a Sunday afternoon so was relatively quiet, most of the course was in good condition. Probably only the tee boxes letting it down. Good variety of hole layout. Would play again when on a deal.
I’m confused with all the good ratings
Tees were awful
Ever single fairway was on a slope so it punished a good shot & you never get a flat stance
Front 9 greens had been spiked so again awful back nine better but like I’ve read in another review very inconsistent
So overall very disappointing especially for £45
I’ve played way better for £15
Beautiful course
It's only my second time to Waterton Park but I have been extremely impressed both times. The course was in lovely condition (especially considering the heavy rain earlier in the day), and is clearly looked after and cared for. Greens were smooth and quick enough, everything else manicured nicely too. Would recommend to anybody.
Sunny day at Waterton Park. Wakefield.
Excellent parking facilities very professional clubhouse staff and Pro shop teeoff time on point! I was paired with a member actually young person and another visitor.
We played a three ball at a wonderful pace. Everyone was very courteous on the course and welcome to each other. The course played really well. Greens are fast well maintained fairways are cut clearly defined rough fine and fair.
Spoke to few members during the round all very charming people very welcoming and a thoroughly enjoyable 18 holes and will be playing again soon!
Thanks guys really appreciate it. Warm bar hospitality and locker facilities..
Quality course
Very good course in good condition. Some punishing gradients particularly on holes 2 and 3 but some interesting holes that make you think.
Gem
Fantastic course - very well kept beautiful grounds and I couldn’t believe I hadn’t played here before
Best course I’ve personally played
The course is spread out over a beautiful scenic area wildlife and stunning views on some hikes quite hilly in places so hard slog with a push trolley but so enjoyable
Amazing course
The best place I have played in my limited time playing agreed but can’t think of a course that can beat this course fit value etc
What an amazing course - But let down massively !!
This course, it's environment really ticks all the boxes. Amazing area of natural beauty (worlds first nature reserve) and in general a layout that really makes the most of the views and landscape. Charles Waterton would be proud of what has been created on his land. Some holes not so well thought-out but overall WOW this really has the potential of being one of them great courses that you have to play. Especially the back 9 with the views of the lake.
However, if you really like golf stay away as I played really well yesterday and from tee to green I was on fire. As soon as I got the ball onto the green I was so disappointed. Greens were bumpy, lumpy, woolly and it was like playing at a seaside pitch and putt. Even with 3ft putts there was no consistent roll and like a lottery when you got within 10ft. You play golf for the dream shots and the chances to score well but you will never score well on greens like that! Played the day before at Wakefield Golf club and if Waterton Park had those greens then this place would rival some of the best courses in the UK. I will deffo play again but please sort a fundamental part of golf out and at least have a consistent roll on your greens or it's pointless playing. Charles will be turning in his grave.
This was my first time playing this course and I’ve waited a long time to play here.
A lot of people have said it’s one of the best around here and it definitely didn’t disappoint at all.
After a patchy start I got my eye in again and played some of my best golf this year ( sorry for blowing my own trumpet)
Some of the holes are stunning especially a few of the par 3’s.
The tees and greens were all in fantastic condition, fairways were fast but in great condition too.
Everything about this course is fantastic and I will be definitely going back here before the bad weather kicks in.
This is definitely the best course I’ve played this year and I play different courses at least 3 times a week.
I haven’t got anything negative to say about this place apart from the fox on the 16th fairway who ate my last cereal bar and then took off.
Excellent
Only issue was we had built a lovely gap following the group in front, no one behind us and members jumped onto the back 9 behind us, instantly putting pressure on us other than that, lovely
