Wensum Valley Hotel, Golf & Country Club - Wensum Course

Course was in great condition, I like the changes you’ve made, especially to the water section of the course. We were unfortunately stuck behind a group of lads using 2 buggies with no course etiquette , wearing trainers and who appeared to be playing Texas scramble ( peak time on Saturday! ) we called out to ask if we could be let through, which fell on deaf ears! We just about finished before the light went. Upon finishing one of the group called out and said it was slow because they were a four ball ( without any awareness that you should let groups behind you through if you are not keeping up with the pace of play! ) It was a real shame as we were having a great game until we encountered this unsavoury group. My solution would be that if you have hotel guests playing or visitors you explain the basic rules when they are checking in at the pro shop, this seems very typical with hotel golf complexes. Course was in great condition and is great value on a Saturday, just need to educate visitors on golf etiquette!

A difficult course as the conditions were cold and ground was wet underfoot. The greens were temporary, which we found a bit disappointing. The course design was interesting with lots of tree-lined fairways, ponds and lakes. Maybe this was the wrong time of year to play this course?

Pro shop was well equipped and staff were very friendly and helpful.

Cracking venue, the green keepers are constantly busy with something, and as long as the water line is still below the banks you'll have a days work to keep your balls dry. Excellent conditions, thanks for your efforts guys, looking forward to my next round 👍

Played the wensum on a Sunday with an 11am tee time. We thoroughly enjoyed the course layout and quality but the round was marred by a 5 hour play time. Two groups of 4 balls in buggies were back to back and extremely slow.

I feel a marshall would help this situation.

Booked for a two ball at 2pm. Arrived early expecting to use the range while we waited but could go straight out.

Friendly staff at all areas of the club, would highly recommend, in fact thinking about joining, its that good.

Loved the course. Very well kept and the greens are fabulous

For the course i would love to see 150yard markers as an improvement.

Speed of play was very slow. 2 groups left in front of me due to a group playing extremely slow and wouldn’t let anyone through. I caught up with them my hole 13 and even being by myself by then they wouldn’t let myself through.

First time playing here and the Wensum coarse. I am still relatively new to golf and I found this coarse a challenge at times. The coarse is lovely and well kept with great views. The front 9 the pace of play is good, then the back 9 are slower I assume this is due to the water hazards!! What is funny as I played much better on the back 9.

Think the driving range could do with a little more investment, looks a bit run down but is still serves a purpose. All the other facilities here are great.

So we ended up at this course because our original round was cancelled apparently due to weather, this course is literally up the road and sits in a river valley, and the conditions were unbelievable, I thought it would be a bog, but it's not, the condition of course for early in the year and with weather we've had in last year was just amazing. Would definitely recommend this course, when you get into the valley with the river winding it's way through its a real challenge

Played the Wensum course which had some holes closed due to being water logged, but still played 18 holes & throughly enjoyed the course. As a bonus everyone we met were very friendly.

Lovely course. Only 9 holes available to play due to the wet conditions. But allowed to play 18 holes. Can’t wait to play in the summer and see all the hard work from the winter make the course even better.

To start…very rude woman in the pro shop..course was in ok condition…was surprised to see groups of youths in hoodies and tracksuits trashing the course as they hacked there way round…also people drinking booze and throwing cans around …it seems they let anyone on this course.

Overall good very dry for this time of year.

Bunkers always have been abit naff. Lots of rocks and stones never hit out of them.

Greens on the wensum was great. Fairways good ! Re doing most tee box too. Nice course
