Alhambra Municipal Golf Course
About
Alhambra Golf Course has a player-friendly design that is ideal for beginners but also great for more experienced players who are looking for a quick but fun round. The layout is a shorter par-71 design at 5,478 yards. It may not be long but it offers plenty of other challenges. There is plenty of variety between the two vastly different nines. The front nine holes are fairly flat, parkland holes with generous fairways lined with trees. The beginning holes provide a good warm-up for Alhambra Golf Course's more difficult back nine where you'll have to use every club in your bag. The back sprawls across rolling terrain, incorporating elevation changes ranging from subtle to dramatic. There are also more strategically placed bunkers on the back nine. Alhambra's 16th is the signature hole. This tricky par 5 begins with an intimidating tee shot over water in order to reach the fairway.

Hole 6 green. So many trees that line the fairways at this course. Photo submitted by u018507495 on 06/24/2025

Par 3 13th Photo submitted by HOTSPOTTS on 07/27/2018
Short course but fun green.
Litte bit short, but very fun green. Be careful, anther hole player ball fly in to my hole. Sometimes there are smoe people that walking on the fairway.
Fun Course
I am a fan of this course. Open fairways, mixed elevation and a few parable holes.
Slow Pace Tight Fairway
Playing single on a threesome group. Ahead of us group playing fivesome very slow. Never thought that I can play fivesome in the course.
Low maintenance of fairway, green was ok. $51 for a weekday with cart was too much.
If you are looking for practice the course is just ok. Beware of the pace of play if you are unlucky you would have found fivesome group with slow pace in front of you. Even for beginner golfer like myself.
Fivesomes--Boo!
With an 8:30 am tee time we got stuck behind 2 fivesomes that were walkers. The round lasted 4 hr. 30 minutes. That is ridiculous for this course.
Great value, beautiful, really fun to play
This was a really fun and beautiful course. The staff was incredibly friendly!
Monday morning
As they make very clear on their website, the driving range is closed until noon on Monday for routine maintenance. Additionally, the restaurant overlooking the first tee box is grab & go only Mondays and Tuesdays. They offer subpar (lol) coffee and essentially protein bars. Asking for more than that resulted in the one person working seeming very overwhelmed.
Would be nice to enjoy a cup of decent coffee and a bite to eat while watching people tee off before the round.
The course itself was in great shape when we played. The pace was great, although the group behind us announced they were part of a 15 person outing, and we easily lost sight of them after a few holes.
Carts worked as expected, the staff members in the pro shop were friendly. Parking was easy as can be.
We’ll be back for sure, but probably not on a Monday morning.
Slipping
Many golf courses forget that golfers are the no1 draw to your course and they must be taken care of. Make a dedicated golfers food and drink window. It’s not difficult.
No call out on the order on the T, no starter, no organization. There is one guy in the weekend who keeps the T’s a well oiled machine. Not sure of his name but he’s got it going on. When he’s not there, chaos with a bit of “I don’t care” employees
Regular Weekly Player
Customer service excellent at all level of interaction with employees. Course in good condition except for the traps. Muddy, crusty and hard packed. They need lots of work. They do not add to the enjoyment of the round.
Almansor
On the shorter side but makes you shape your shots and think if Driver is the best club or not
Excellent course for the price. Monday mornings less valuable.
Excellent experience on the course. Pace of play was on point, the course was in great shape, and the pro shop staff was friendly during check in. However, if your tee time is in the morning on Monday, you will not be able to access the driving range, as it is closed for weekly maintenance. You might expect to be able to grab a bite of breakfast since there’s not much else to do, but the restaurant is grab & go only on Monday and Tuesday, and this essentially means you can have weak coffee and a protein bar. The person behind the counter seems to be overwhelmed if you ask for anything more. The patio outside the restaurant would be a great spot to watch tee shots from the first hole while enjoying a pre-round breakfast, and this is a missed opportunity for sure.
Course was in good shape and weather was excellent
Haven’t played here in a while. Greens were in good shape seemed to fix 3-4 ball marks per green though. The round was slow we tee’d off at 240pm and got of the 18th green at 725pm. Alhambra is a fun tight course. My 10 year old son loves it. It’s our go to when he wants to play. I recommend it. Fun to hear the little league teams playing when you’re on the front 9. I enjoy the back 9 a bit more. A little more thought needed for tee shots on the back 9.
Quality continues
We're back at Alhambra. My group generally golf on Long Beach courses. Alhambra Golf is head and shoulders above the Long Beach and surrounding municipal courses because of attention to detail. The Pro shop is stocked with everything that you'd need, shoes, shirts, tees, balls and even fresh cigars if you're so inclined.
The food from the restaurant/grill is delicious. I've had hamburgers, Tuna sandwiches ( fresh), breakfast sandwiches all are cooked to order.
The course itself is always in great condition. They are spending money where it's needed ( maintenance) and it shows. The driving range is also greatly improved with nice outdoor lounge furniture for in between practice sessions. The new ball tracking system is up and ready to use.
Needless to say, I like this course and will be returning soon.
