Golfer Reviews
An area standout..
Course was in good shape after recent aeration (3 weeks ago). Only reason I didn’t give course 5 stars for conditions was that the greens were still rolling VERY slow....and the practice putting green was rolling much faster, so it took a few holes to reconcile that. Otherwise, ourselves was in great shape for late June in AZ. I highly recommend this course for everyone....just pick out the right tee markers to play from!
Anniversary outing
We really enjoyed our round of golf at Victory course.
We also loved the food credit at the Verado grill. It is one of our favorite places to eat.
Love this course!
2nd time playing here in last week. 2 of our group was fiirst time. We love this place. Highly recommend.
Really fun
First time on this course and we loved it. It's hot this time of yr and today was 103* but these new SPF long sleeved shirts make it bearable. This is a very FUN course with lots of shot options and varying slopes and elevations and hazards. We played the combo tees at about 5650 yards since first time and a couple birdies ensured a great time. I even had an eagle putt on the 18th hole but settled for birdie. Can't wait to return but can only afford to play here in the off season since it's expensive during the winter tourist season.
Terribly slow airrated greens.
I normally love this course because of the layout and quick greens but there was not warning about the airrated greens and they were so slow 90% of our 4 somes putts couldn't get to the hole. I would not have played if I had known!
106 degrees and No Ice!
It was very hot and they had no ice.
They had water on the course but offered no cups!
The greens had just been airrated so the greens were slow and unpredictable.
The bathrooms are locked and have no sinks. Luckily I remembered the code from the month before.
I can’t complain about the GolfNow deal. Less than $2 per hole is always attractive.
Course Will Mature
I've played the Founders Course a number of times and have enjoyed it. This is my first time playing Victory. Here are my comments:
- greens were punched a week ago but I knew that
- fairway condition was not what I expected with a number of "brown" areea
- pro shop and restaurant were quite small
- Pace of play was excellent (4 hours)
I plan to go back play the Founders course later this week.
Verrado Victory
I booked this through GolfNow and wasn't aware that the fairways and greens had recently been "punched" for aerification. Granted, the price was substantially less than the $130 rack rate but I've played the course before for a similar price and it was in much better condition. When you get to the course be prepared to be strip searched if you bring a cooler. I brought a small cooler with water and lemonade since it was going to be 100 degrees. The first thing when I walked up to the outside checkin desk was to be greeted with a request to look inside my cooler. It just hit me the wrong way like I was a criminal. It might have been better to just ask me if I had any alcoholic beverages in my cooler and trust me to be honest instead of assuming I'm a liar or criminal right off the bat. Great way to ruin a good outing, thanks "bag guy"! The course itself is beautiful when it's in decent condition. This day it was not. The fairways had a lot of brown/dry spots and had the aerification holes, the greens were bumpy from being aerated, and the tee boxes were so hard you had to find the prime spot to be able to insert your tee very deep. On the plus side, there are water coolers on several holes with ice water and they had boxes with ice cold towels that you could cool off with, a nice touch when it's 100+ degrees. This place used to be a lot better so I'm not sure what happened. I'm not sure if Golfnow has any responsibility to notify you of course conditions, but maybe they should. I am the last person to complain when I'm at the golf course because I'm "at the golf course" if you know what I mean. I could be working so I'm usually happy. This experience not so much. Maybe getting treated like a criminal from the git go put off bad vibes for the day. Maybe a little better customer service or training in how to deal with the cooler situation is in order.
Flooded due to sprinkler heads!
Played here 6 times and love the challenge. Love the layout. It's a "primo" establishment. BUT NOT TODAY!
Screwup w/ the sprinklers. Puddles a' plenty! Sloshy all over.. Had to relocate my ball about every hole to find a a dry area. That's not what a primo establishment should offer. That cost a few strokes. It just wears on you.
Ranger towed the "company line" to inform us we were lucky that we weren't cart path only. He wanted us to bow down and give thanks. Yeah, right!
Course should've given us a heads up in pro shop. They didn't. A 20% discount or food/drink credit afterwards would've been fair compensation. But, NO! Really disappointing!!!!!
Fairways cut very tight
This is a magnificent course with stunning layout, very very well-maintained sand traps greens and fairways. The only downside that I could comment on was the fact that the fairways were cut very tight. Some areas were a bit scalped. But the overall condition was good to very good. Since the course location is in an essentially retirement community, the fairways were very forgiving with plenty of width. That being said, if you are off the fairway and rough you are in very rocky desert. Bring a few extra golf balls along.
Great golf course!
This was our time playing the Victory Course and it was amazing! Loved the course, conditions, and friendly people. Will definitely return!
Victory @ Verrado
Outstanding course with fast greens. This is a must play in the Phoenix, Az. area. Will challenge every skill level.
One Of My Top 5
I have reviewed this course before. Just a very nice course, well maintained, and a very unique look. And despite how many times I have played it, it remains a challenge.
Great views
This is a beautiful course with lush green fairways and white boulders. There are many blind shots, I did not see a yardage book. They might have them but did not think to ask until we were on the course. The pace of play was fine until a twosome decided to skip a hole and pass our foursome. The rest of the round we waited for them as they waited for the group that was ahead.
