Maybe the best course in the area. Course is long but fairways are wide and forgiving. Greens are where you rack up your strokes. Love this course. My playing partner gets a 9 on #11 and then aces #12! Shoots a 78 with a 9 on the scorecard.

Only negative is the pricey beer/food.

If you’re looking for primo golf, this is the spot.

Ok I get the protocols with COVID-19, as I work at a private country club in the area. If you are not going to handle a golf bag with a mask and gloves on just let me know or make a sign up. I was also told I couldn’t go to the range till right before my tee time? Are you kidding me? Then there is actually a sign that you cannot putt on the practice green till ten minutes before your tee time, you have got to be kidding me, it’s a 12,000 sq ft green. We go to the first tee and no scorecards, come on! So you want me to touch the screen several

Times rather than my own scorecard? I get no pencils but no scorecards is just plain cheap. Additionally all times we were there previously we could go to the Tiki Bar and have lunch and drinks but this has been discontinued.

What appears to be happening is they need the daily fee revenue but they really don’t want you there. So go play where you are appreciated

Great layout in superior condition The staff is warm and friendly. I strongly recommend playing this course.

It's a treat to golf there, but a bit to expensive for my level of golf.

Challenging , Pretty long with undulating greens that are quick but roll true.. it’s a professional layout so choose your tee box accordingly - has the true feel of a professional course - played with a member on front nine and she was very helpful with tips - see you soon , can’t wait to get back there !

A very enjoyable golf course to play. Wide fairways with little trouble off the tee. Big undulating greens allowed for some fun pin locations, your ball could catch a slope and funnel it towards the hole. Fun to play 5 par 5’s and a super short par 4. Was in great shape!

There are some very hard holes but, if you play them right you will shoot a good score and some birdie-able holes.

Lakewood National's Commander Course is as enjoyable a golf course as I've played in FL. Long, but fair layout with a combination of really difficult holes (good luck on 10-12) and some shorter and trickier holes that make birdie a reality. Conditions are impeccable, greens roll consistently in the 11 range and bunkers have excellent sand.

Although the tee sheet is generally filled on a daily basis, pace of play is reasonable as I have played it a dozen times and finished in 3:45-4:15 every time. A couple of blind tee shots can result in water if you miss left, but after the first loop you should be fine.

Home to a Korn-Ferry event the last two years, and I was present at the finish this year and one speaker mentioned that this is the "Augusta of their tour". High praise to say the least. Couple that with a friendly and talented staff and you get a very enjoyable day!

Simply amazing from check in to check out. I must compliment every employee. Everyone is eager to help make the experience memorable. 5 STARS to the superintendent and staff. The course offers a nice challenge depending on which tee you choose . Definitely not your typical Florida course. Conditions are amazing from tee to green and it’s always fun to play where the PGA tour plays ! Thank you LWN

This is still the best course in the area. I’ve been playing here since it opened and have loved this course from the onset. It’s fair and challenging. It will test ur entire game. It’s a must play.

One tip. Spend some time on the practice putting green. U need to get ur speed down to score.

The Commander course has a beautiful layout and is very challenging when played from the National (Black) tees of 6375 yards. From the first hole (par 5) until the last (also par 5), it was an enjoyable experience. The greens are firm and fast (11) and often difficult to hold. There are many undulations on the large greens. Carts have very accurate GPS systems which obviate the need for a range finder. The practice facility is outstanding. Holes 10, 11 and 12 are the most difficult holes on the course, especially when played in a headwind.

Played at 11:14. Everyone was very nice considering the Corona panic. Curse was in mint shape, starter very friendly. Played with a member who saved us 5 strokes. Very interesting fun but punitive course. No wonder all the pros love it. We played at 6200 both in our 60s and 10 hdcps. It was all we could handle.

My wife and I played on Sunday. The course was in great shape. We met some great people from Sarasota. The staff was very friendly and informative about the course. The facilities there were great.

This is more than a typical Florida course. There were beautiful rolling fairways that on some holes looked like they were no more than 20 yards wide. The greens were large at times however I don’t remember more than 2 or 3 that provided a flat straight putt. The course is in fabulous condition and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. You are doing yourself a disservice if you don’t make this course a must to play when you are in the area, we cannot wait to play it again.
