DeBell Golf Club
About
DeBell Golf Club in Burbank offers an 18-hole Regulation Course and a nine-hole disc golf course. The Regulation Course has a tight layout with narrow fairways and a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. Accuracy is the key to doing well on this golf course but it's not overly punishing. Its risk-reward holes will appeal to low and high handicappers alike. The front nine is fairly challenging but the back nine is where the golf course gets tough. Although DeBell Golf Club is short, only 5,608 yards from the back tees, the blind shots and winding doglegs make it seem much longer than it is. There isn't any water on the golf course but you'll hardly miss its presence with all the other hazards that lurk throughout.

Fun, short, shot makers course
Pros: Greens and fairways were in great shape. Great pace of play for a Sun morning, didn't have to wait on many tees. Bev cart gal was super friendly and came around several times. Got a good deal on Golfnow for a Sun round.
Cons: Short course if you like that kind of thing. Did not have to hit the driver often. Several blind shots and some significant dog legs. Restaurant very busy with Sun brunch, took forever to grab a hot dog at the turn.
Overall - like the course and the facility, will be back for sure.
Great course to get away from LA golf crowds
Nice course with elevation changes and lovely scenery. we saw deer, coyotes, quails, lots of wildlife. The course is challenging with arrow fairways and plenty of dog-legs. staff was really friendly. we played in the afternoon and it was nice to have a municipal course mostly to ourselves on a weekend. Our personal pace was slow this round, but I've finished this course in under 4 hours with a 3 some.
Course condition
The front nine grass was too long and the greens condition can be better.
Fire near the course, only play 14 holes
Nice day 100 degree around the golf course, enjoy the play until hole 14, big fire seeing from peak of the mountain, for safety concern pro shop staff suspending all golfers continue to play, wish nothing was damaged around the course.
Weds golf
The greens for the first few holes were in substandard condition. You must address this issue.
De Bell Golf Burbank 06.13.17
Great course especially for the Hot Deal of $15, although the starter told me the same $15 rate could be purchased in at the course at our 230pm tee time
Gotta Love De Bell
Played several times. Always seem to play with nice people when paired. Good crowd. Course is really pretty challenging and a great value and in pretty decent shape. Club House, very nice. Great value. Win-win-win.
Last Time
I want to be fair in this review by saying that this course is centrally located and is pretty much the only offering for public courses in the area. You could pay the overpriced Angeles National or play the 5 1/2 hr round at Brookside in Pasadena but this really is the only municipal game in the area. I have played it about 7-8 times now over the last 4 years and I keep telling myself I will never play it again. This will be the final time.
'Let me start by being fair and lead with the positives. Friendly staff, good bar/restaurant where you can get a solid meal. Not a quick grab and go spot. This place has freshly cooked food and a full bar setup with a decent view and nice seating area. Staff is always pretty friendly and the course is fairly priced. It is also located in Burbank which is centrally located as far as LA is concerned.
The bad: I simply hate the course design and conditions. The holes are just laid out all wrong. The types of shots that this course forces you to hit are so silly that you would never have to play that same shot on any other course anywhere in the world.
279 yard par 4. followed by 233 yard par 3? Really? You pretty much hit iron off every tee save about 4 holes. It's a "Target Golf Course" which normally is called an Executive Course. But this course remains a 5600 yard "normal course". If you are lucky enough to his the middle of a 10 yard wide fairway par 5 then you will most likely lose your ball on the second shot due to the unkept rough and dirt piles.
This course eats balls for breakfast lunch and dinner. The rough is not kept at all leaving massive mounts of dirt and high grass followed by dead areas of rocks and soil right next to it.
The other problem is that none of the sprinkler heads have yardages and the carts don't tell you either. You only have the 200,150,100 at best on some holes and thats it. Also, the bunkers have more rocks in them than the canyons themselves.
I am really not trying to be negative but There are so many other courses to play.
Overall I think the people just end up here because of the lack of golf options in LA.
On the other hand if you travel 45 minutes NorthWest towards Thousand Oaks you will find Tierra Rejada which is another canyon course and in great shape and way more amazing. Sunset views from up on the cliffs are outstanding. Plus you have about 4-5 other golf courses out there that are all reasonably priced, open, and all different in their own way. It's kind of a hidden little pocket of fun, inexpensive public courses that are kept up better than De Bell and some of the others in the LA area.
Just My Two Cents
Bring more balls
Course is good. Tight iron game is needed . Bring extra balls because if you go out there is no hope of finding your ball.. and even in the 2nd and 3rd cuts are too high to find balls
Fairways are nice a d greens are kept well
The bunkers may as well just be a pile of rocks sprinkled with some sand.. and that's my only big complaint..
Great staff....
I will play here again soon
Ok
High volume of sand all over multiple putting greens. Made more strokes than usual. Would've been nice to see staff blow it off vs working on other areas.
Wait staff, my server at the grill never brought me refills as I've asked for. Had to get them at the bar myself
Great For tightening your game
I have been playing DeBell for 30+ years, and i can tell you first hand that this course is very deceptive. Fairways look a wide, but play very narrow, the rough is every bit the word... tall and thick.
If you like a nice challenge, come on by... the greens are calling your name.
Nice challenging course
I have played here a few times , very friendly staff and well maintained course
AWESOME
Without a doubt the most challenging and dynamic course that I have played in the area. Every hole was a awesome new adventure through the foothills of Burbank. I wish I could play this course everyday!
