DeBell Golf Club
About
DeBell Golf Club in Burbank offers an 18-hole Regulation Course and a nine-hole disc golf course. The Regulation Course has a tight layout with narrow fairways and a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. Accuracy is the key to doing well on this golf course but it's not overly punishing. Its risk-reward holes will appeal to low and high handicappers alike. The front nine is fairly challenging but the back nine is where the golf course gets tough. Although DeBell Golf Club is short, only 5,608 yards from the back tees, the blind shots and winding doglegs make it seem much longer than it is. There isn't any water on the golf course but you'll hardly miss its presence with all the other hazards that lurk throughout.

Good for then price
Course is pretty good; somewhat of an tight layout. Only used my driver on a handful of holes.
My only complaint is the staff. Only saw a beverage cart one time in 4.5 hours, and it was on hole 10 right after the turn where of course I already stopped and got something. I appreciate the course having an active Governor, but he didn't know what he was doing. He told us we needed to speed up but we were literally standing there waiting for the group ahead of us. Didn't help that he was quite rude about it.
I'd still recommend the course, but don't expect the best customer service when going.
Biggest disappointment
Saw a $20 deal on golf now and I've never played the course before, so a buddy and I jumped on it. There were so many things about the course and staff that I don't know where to start....
1. Mostly street parking only at 3pm on Saturday
2. As I'm walking from my car to the club house I see about 8 carts waiting to tee off hole #1, they stack the tee times like crazy!!
3. Took about 3.5 hours to play 9 holes, waited about 10 min on each tee box
4. After 9 holes we decided to stop and I went inside to talk to the staff to get an explanation as to why it was so slow, couldn't give me an answer except for that it's a busy day and the tee time system doesn't link up with Golf Now's system for booking.
5. When I asked if they could do anything, he offered a $10 coupon off a fully priced round of golf, I told him keep because I would never be back to this dump of a course, the course was is awful shape
6. No marshal out there to help speed things up and no food and drink cart.
Overall, the experience was miserable and I would never go back or recommend this course to anyone
Meh
The fairway was littered with dead leaves, and there were patches of muddy/mushy areas. The grass was not kept well or conditioned (neither fairway nor rough). Most holes were quite short and not challenging.
Dissappoined
Booked the day before on Golf now. Got to the course to find out the front 9 was closed for arriating, so the snack bar and beverage cart closed at noon! Then they moved the T time back 35 minutes to follow 4 high school foursomes that played way too slow! Not a pleasant golf outing....
Too slow and behind schedule
Let a group of six go off the back at the turn. Yeah that will help...
Took six hours to play a round. Saw the cart service once in a six hour round. People were not happy.
Greens were lightning fast and difficult to read. But in great shape
Love the course. But will never play on a weekend
Excellent
The scenic views this course had were phenomenal! You definitely want to study the course if you've never played. It's narrow fairways were challenging but forgiving if you know what side to stay on. Definitely a must play course if you have the opportunity.
Tchnical
Not an easy course to play your first time. The front nine is challenging and tight with lots of short doglegs. Not too many hazards and overall short so its hard to make a big number on any hole.
Love Love Love DeBell
This course is amazing for dialing in your all around game. You might use driver on 4 or 5 holes. The Fairways are incredibly narrow. The course whips through a canyon like a snake and you will certainly lose a few balls especially on the difficult front nine. But, let me tell you, this course has everything. Great views of the valley, an incredibly attentive and friendly staff, excellent restrooms, clubhouse, quality food at great prices, driving range (150 balls for $10... split with your foursome for warm-up you can not beat the value of this place). They claim that they are a public course that feels like a private course. That is a fact. No shortage of golf carts. Well maintained greens (everything breaks toward the valley). Grass is really green after a rain. You could play this course 30 times (I have) and still find yourself trying to figure out the best way to play some of these holes. As I began, with everything being narrow off the tee, this course is all about being accurate. Lots of long irons. Also, lots of deer and other critters. I saw a Rattlesnake once when I lost a ball on the 8th and went into the hill looking for it. Just... Dont. You will most likely not find your ball. It's not worth reaching your hand down there and finding more than just your precious customized ProV1. Hole 1 is an easy par 5. Hole 2, unless you have an amazing draw, just play a low trajectory long iron to set up a 100 yard approach for a chance at birdie. The fairway slopes hard to the valley, even if it does not appear to... Most holes on this course you do not want to go long, especially on the front 9. The front 9 is a much higher degree of difficulty than the back 9. This is actually great, you'll get nice and warmed up and then find some pars on the back 9. I've played this course top to bottom walking in 2 and a half hours. That was a weekday afternoon in the middle of summer and I'll probably never do it again, but it's possible. Weekend rounds normally clock in right at 4 hours. Though it's a shorter course in terms of total yardage, I find that because you take less than driver off most tees, you get more long irons than most other courses. I bonded with my 5 iron on this course. Last note... Not too many hazards. I rarely find myself in a bunker and, sadly, there are no water traps. Just you against the natural hazard that is the canyon. Good luck!
Book early
First off I live out of town and I booked this a week before and everything was great in that regard. The biggest issue was when I arrived at the golf course tee times were 35 minutes behind due to them overbooking. Not only that, there was a group of eight in front of us that kept joining together and breaking apart. At the end of the round, which we didn't complete die to darkness, it took us 4 hours and 20 minutes to finish 13 holes. The course itself is nice and challenging for its length, and in good shape, but completely overcrowded. I'm really frustrated that this was the only round of golf I was able to play on vacation and I didn't even get to finish 18 holes.
DeBell and GolfNow
Golf Now rate was $10...including cart....fantastic price. Course was in same condition as always, moderate at best due to the season. Greens were fast and fantastic.
I recommend playing this course smart and land shots in strategic areas also enjoy the staff.
Good.
$15.00 well spent!
