Hidden Gem
Wonderful course in southwest atlanta, I’ve definitely payed more for more poorly kept, walking courses on the north side. Tup Holmes is our go-to.
Progress is doable when commitment meets resources.
Commit to resources sufficient to manage an 18 hole golf course ….. Labor, machinery for the course on a regular basis including mowing and rolling if the greens and grass seeds for the tee boxes.
Marshals hood ride and encourage players to keep all gaps tight to the group in front of you.
Bang for your buck
It's a decent course with a good bit of elevation and some tricky shots. The fairways, tee boxes and greens are in rough shape but they're playable for the price of the 18. Got paired with a good dude, had a good time. Starter was super nice and helpful. No drinks etc so bring your own water. Pace of play was good, finished 18 in around 3-3.5 hours with no real holdups. (Teed off at 7 am). It looked way busier when we came off 18 so Would definitely play again with an early tee time.
Progress continues/resources display the truth
Greens lack uniform grass/ you must roll for putting to have any chance
If you move the tee box tee marks, ; relocation must have consideration for level stance; otherwise it lacks understanding of the golfer options to take an appropriate stance.
Tree pruning on #9,. #11, #12, & #15 are critical for fairness of shot choice alternatives
Is this a simple lack of adequate resources and supporting labor.
There is a lack of lack of effective marshals protocols to monitor, engage, educate and encourage recognition of etiquette , related to pace of play.
Wonderfully pleased to see positive change.
The management has begun to focus on the aspects of the golf course which give players pleasure and delight when playing.
Greens care/water and pace, pin placements, mowed fringes and fairways, bunkers with sand as well as being maintained, aesthetics of overall appearance with blown and mowed adjacent areas, weed control and daily attention to all, with appropriate staffing, equipment and maintenance resources.
The Tee boxes remain in need of restoration and overhanging limbs which hinder drives and approaches remain neglected.
Pace of play must be monitored. So many golfers lack understand if established golf rules of etiquette, courtesy and consideration. It slows play tremendously and causes needless frustration. Marshals must be attentive to the intentional disregard and indirect causes of slow pace of play. It won’t hurt feelings to ask and encourage!
Really beautiful course
I love the layout of this course and it’s beautiful, especially the back 9 holes.
Change is slow, however noticeable!
Improved placement of flag/cup placements on greens improves every hole experience and enjoyment.
Adding water to the greens is a fundamental requirement .
Rolling and mowing the greens really reduces the negative impact of not having uniform putting surfaces.
I
improved quality of bunker care and sand in them matters.
Having sufficient labor to manage the daily requirements is critically important, as having the right operative machinery to do the needed maintenance
The tee boxes are pathetic/ mowing does help.
Progress is obvious. The rate and sustained focus is what will make the difference.
Needs Work
This course needs some work.
Many of the tee boxes were bare.
The fairways need cutting. Also, some of the fairways are startind to get bare. Please aerate - resend.
Greens need to be restarted, reseeded.
I can't believe grounds management have not noticed these things.
Atlanta, please fully fund this facility for staffing and ground maintenance and stock the front office with snacks, gatorade and water.
Work in progress
Tee boxes need work.
Course maintenance needs engagement, each morning
Marshals must enforce reducing gaps in pace of play
Tee boxes need major work sand almost every tee box and greens need major work hardly any grass on greens and fairways are in bad shape lots of dirt and no grass .would recommend going to another course besides here
Poor greens
Greens are like concrete with no grass. Mostly sand and dried mud. Every green looks like the attached photos.
