Need to cut grass more frequently.
Difficult to find ball @ times due to the high grass in the fairway. Otherwise things were great.
This course is in poor condition.
The greens are in poor condition, the Teebox is in really poor condition, and If you don't keep it in the fairways you will lose a lot of balls!! Will never play here again! I must say, they do have really nice golf carts! I was very disappointed to see how this course has been maintained.
Challenging!
The course was more challenging due to maintenance, the rough was very rough. However it made you stay true to your skill, only forgiving on wide open holes. In other words there were more hazards...
Great value, but in need of maintenance...
The course has a good mix of straight forwards shots, doglegs and some really nice elevated scenic hole-to-green views on par 3s; however, the grass was not maintained. It was to the extent that it literally was difficult on many holes to identify the fairways, and there were instances in which finding the ball in the fairway off the tee took some time. But for the price paid it was an overall good value and I will return in hopes that I caught them on a 'bad day' attributable to the almost daily rain we've experienced over the last few weeks.
The course was challenging.
The course was full of long hilly fairways and deep rough if you miss the fairway.
Good Layout, Poorly Maintained!
No mention of aeration the week I played.
Tee boxes were uneven or mostly dirt, fairways were between 2-4 inches tall. The greens hadn't been cut or rolled in a maybe a week?? Furry. Pouring down rain and the staff didn't want to give me a rain check. Not a great experience.
I have played there in the past and it was totally different, I had a great time and the course was in much better shape. Not sure what's going on, budget cuts?? who knows.
Nice Course, Nice Price
This course is not the most pristine, but it is a great value and very enjoyable. The staff was friendly. Some of the fairways could have used a bit of maintenance but it is understandable because of all the recent rain. They even apologized for it. I have been before and I will be back!
British Open Play Without Spotters
After watching Phil win the Open, decided to play a round of golf to complete my day. Tup Holmes was near and drains well, so decided to give the track a try. Hole one, played my tee shot down center of fairway and balls hit and rolls from left to right into the rough, no problem. Riding down the fairway I see the rough had grown above shin level, I thought, I think this going to to fun playing in Open type set up. As I play on, realize the course is in need of much attention from American Golf staff. Most of the tee boxes have been lost, greens are hairy and are going to be aerated starting 7/22/13. All through the round stoppage of play due to uncut fairways, leading to lost balls. I've played this course numerous time in the beginning of my golfing career and the course was embarrassing. I'm hoping because of all the bad weathered we've had, that is the case? The course has historical meaning to the locals and I wouldn't want too see this course loss due to lack of funding. I wouldn't recommend this course too anyone right now, but, I owe it too play again, maybe end of August too see if American Golf staff gives it much needed attention. Next month with a great deal from Golfnow, I'll submit another review regarding the round.
Tup Holmes
City course. I paid $15.00 for 18 holes on Sunday at 11:00. Very good deal in my opinion.
You won't see the ground crew or have a cart girl/woman, but for the money it is ok.
Holes #9 and #17 are great signature holes.
The course was in very good condition after a week of rain. I expected cart path only conditions but was allow to drive on the course without any issues.
Great Course Value
Great course value and some challenging holes. Does not have any water, but still numerous possibilities to loose balls...
Budgeted maintained, with challenging unique vintage layout. Good weekday pace
A Municipal private corp. budgeted maintained course it has unique layout and elevation changes, sloped fairways, and the feel of a mature golf course. Shorter par 5's encourage the birdie quest
well bunkered greens with no real water hazards. Very good weekday pace of play.
Inexpensive but still not a great deal
Course was in general disrepair. Many balls were lost despite landing on the fairway. Many tee boxes were in rougher shape than actual fairway. At one point, our cart completely died. When we inquired with the proshop on how best to proceed, we were told to hike our stuff up to the proshop and they would give us a different one - no apology was made.
Great value
Tup Holmes is a great course for the money. It is maintained well and presents a sufficient challenge for the average golfer. Improvements could include beverage cart services
This course was in terrible condition
The greens were like fairways and the fairways were like the rough. I actually ended up losing two balls in the fairway because it was so thick. Not very expensive, so I probably should have known better, but nonetheless, a disappointing experience on the course. The landscape was very nice, but overall was not enough to overcome how the course was kept.
Nice course, great price.
Set in some rolling countryside just SW of downtown Atlanta, it gives an alternative to the flat course at Brown's Mill. It is not terribly long, but it does have fairly small greens, so you have to be accurate on the second shot. It also has two fun (even if you can't hit the shot) novelty holes set around ruins from an old Civil War Camp site from during the battle of Atlanta. Well maintained, nice staff, and a good value for the money, especially if you don't want to drive out of the city.
Excellent GREENS
Not an overpowering course but requires some pin point accuracy on a couple of holes. Par 3 #9 is challenging requiring a rescue for most players. Tight fairways are not my cup of tee, but I scored well that day (79).
This is an excellent course.
Love holes 9 and 17, very challenging. Great course to play for the cost.
Terrible Service
We only play nine holes because of rain, the staff would not provide a rain check. Thsi is the first course that I've play that would offer a rain check. Very disappointed. Course is not in great shape, green are good but slow, havenot been cut.
Course could be better
This course could be better. The price was great, but no ball washers, no restrooms, and unmaintained bunkers. At least the greens are in great shape. Will wait a while before playing there again.
