El Prado Golf Courses - Butterfield Stage
About
El Prado Golf Course boasts two different 18-hole courses: Butterfield Stage and Chino Creek. Early in California's statehood, stagecoaches would make the 2,700 mile trek from St. Louis to San Francisco. The property used to be a stop on this trail, which is where the Butterfield Stage Course gets its name. It's the shorter of the two courses at 6,568 yards from the back tees. The course is flatter and more forgiving than Chino Creek, but it still has a fair amount of challenges that will test your skills. The layout has generous fairways, but watch out for the strategically placed bunkers lurking along the large, gently undulating greens. Water hazards come into play on several holes as well. The wide open nature of the course can be forgiving but at the same time it will put your round at the mercy of the prevailing winds.

Had a good day, good weather, good foursome
Golf now has to get some earlier tee times...getting dark earlier...only criticism I would have is the same every week...GET SOMEONE TO CLEAN THE TWO ON COURSE BATHROOMS!...they are filthy, stained and trickle of water in urinals and toilets is minimal....I enjoy the course, the staff and my playing partner...
Please roll the greens
Played here numerous times. EXCELLENT value for the price you pay. Completely reasonable and on par price with the condition of the course. I enjoy the El Prado and know what to expect. I am tired of going for a putt and the ball is bouncing up or kicking left and right on the same putt. Please just roll the greens once or twice. The greens themselves are not patchy nor do the golfers leave divots which is great. This would definitely take the course up a level.
Some remodeling going on
it's great to see money being invested in this course. and for it to become even better and get higher ratings from all, i believe they should also focus on something separate from the game but very important for any course and its attendees: bathrooms.
like any other older course, the bathrooms seem the last place money is put into rebuilding, but i think it's time.
now if there is any money left, i'd add some sand into those bunkers, they are pretty much hard dirt bowls at this point.
Avgoodvday
This is my 2nd review...first eliminated by an advertisement....I enjoy playing there, the staff is great, but the men's restrooms on. the course are terrible..I do not understand why someone is not assigned to use Ajax, a scrub brush and "elbow greese" and clean the scum and stains off the porcelain. That is my only complaint. Some of the sprinklers are leaking but they are under repair.
Shop don’t follow GN pricing
Checked in to pay for tee and they charged higher price than price posted on GN. Course smells like sewage. The restrooms located on the course are horrible. Avoid unless you don’t have a better tee time.
Good Conditions For the Money
Hadn't played Butterfield in a while. More recently played Chino Creek. Butterfield is easier and funner to play. Conditions were okay but playable. Don't come here and expect Augusta National by any stretch. The greens putted pretty well, the fairways were a little sparce and ratty in parts. I just played winter rules if it should've been deemed ground under repair. Bunkers were a little spotty with how much or little sand there was which is typical for the IE. Pace of play was about 4:45 at 10 am on a Friday morning. Carts were in good shape. Shop staff was very ly friendly. Small bucket at $7 for small bucket of plus/minus balls was a little much. I played for $35 with a cart on golfnow to play a decent layout with better than average greens. So overall a positive experience!
Slow Play No Way
Great staff and the weather was perfect. We walked the course and waited for a 3-some. Didn't see a Marshall during the round.
Out of towner
5 hour round. Good greens and most fairways have grass. Need attention on grass seed around greens but fair for the amount of play.
Solid track
A little rough around the edges but they have plans over the next two years to renovate the place. New carts and a great staff, always pleasant and helpful.
Better than I remembered
I hadn't played here in nearly 10 years and I was suprised at how well the course had been maintained. The tee boxes were all in good shape, the fairways were (for the most part) well maintained, and the greens rolled true.
