El Prado Golf Courses - Butterfield Stage
About
El Prado Golf Course boasts two different 18-hole courses: Butterfield Stage and Chino Creek. Early in California's statehood, stagecoaches would make the 2,700 mile trek from St. Louis to San Francisco. The property used to be a stop on this trail, which is where the Butterfield Stage Course gets its name. It's the shorter of the two courses at 6,568 yards from the back tees. The course is flatter and more forgiving than Chino Creek, but it still has a fair amount of challenges that will test your skills. The layout has generous fairways, but watch out for the strategically placed bunkers lurking along the large, gently undulating greens. Water hazards come into play on several holes as well. The wide open nature of the course can be forgiving but at the same time it will put your round at the mercy of the prevailing winds.

Busy at Prado
Busy little place with lots of people using the range, snack bar & playing golf on a Thursday morning/afternoon. Older course I’m sure in its hey days was something special but now it’s a nice little place to play a fairly easy course played here today for the first time Butterfield was wide with good greens, the Bermuda & Kikuyu are everywhere on this course especially on tee boxes some do need to be shaved down but overall this place is a local inexpensive course that the Public can play.
Would love to come back & play Chino Creek.
Super Busy at Prado
Came to Prado today for the first time ever & really liked it, it’s an older course that in its hey day I’m sure was really something but it’s now a local course that people who want to practice, socialize or even get around quickly. Well it can happen here. Very friendly Pro Shop staff & Bartenders, course was in pretty good condition some rough areas but nothing to really scream about I mean it’s a $30-$45 course that’s all it’s really gonna be, it’s not PGA West but for a local course it works. Had to ask several times where certain holes were at with them having 2 18 hole courses. Signage is not great but I would play this course again shot 71 from back tees on Butterfield would love to try Chino Creek next tine.
Weeds, weeds, O'dweeds...
Trees are surrounded by high grass, a little weed wacking would do this course some good. Water hazards are dry, Spots are very mushy.......
Cart included
I booked cart included and my email doesn't specify it and the golf course charge me extra for cart.

QUICK ROUND!!
WE PLAYED THE ROUND IN RATHER SPEDDY FASHION. THE COURSE WAS IN GOOD CONDITION. MADE BACK TO BACK BIRDIES ON #16 & 17.
Expensive for a decent course
Overall i enjoyed the entire layout of the course. Some things I will say that we’re bothersome was the odor coming from nearby farms, the pushcarts are pretty lame and need to be updated especially considering the green fee that’s being charged, and there needs to be better course supervision because my group ran across a group of 6 guys playing in one group which isn’t permitted and slowed everyone until we passed through them. Otherwise it’s a good course to build your skill and just have a good time with your buddies.

Good Value For $20
Course is not great but not bad either. Most tee boxes had a bit much grass, greens were mostly on the slow side but were mostly pretty true rolls, fairways were mostly covered with some patches here and there. Practice facilities and 19th hole were nice. Overall, course is very much average in most ways but a decent value for $20.

Pee you later
The only bad thing was the wind kicked up and I smelled cow dung for 7 of 18 holes hahaha!
The greens were watered so made your irons stick on the greens. Putts were slow but rolled true.

Don’t play here
No carts, when we paid for one. Staff was very unfriendly and no help.

Great course but need attention
Fairway dry out and bumpy, need some attention. Green is in good condition.

Fun, easy course
Had a lot of fun playing with some buddies. Relatively easy course with a lot of scoring holes. Not in the best condition with the crabgrass and manure smell, but overall a good time.
Good for the money
My buddy and i walked 18 yesterday and had a generally positive experience. The only negative was the broad range of odors that wafted on the desert winds (primarily manure). I grew up with such smells but i could see someone with a sensitive sense of smell being overwhelmed.

Stinky as always
If you can stand the smell, it's a good value especially in the afternoons. Usually less than $1 per hole for full length 18 with usually okay conditions.. Today's stink was extra strong. Nominated for stinkiest finishing hole in CA! Extra rough roughs today but just don't get in the rough!
