About

Slope 126
Rating 72.5

El Prado Golf Course in Chino offers two 18-hole courses, Chino creek and Butterfield Stage. Chino Creek is the longer of the two at 6,858 yards from the back tees. It is also considered more challenging but both are player friendly enough to appeal to all skill levels. As its name would imply, the Chino Creek runs along the entire length of the golf course. You find water in several different forms throughout the course including lakes and meandering streams. The layout is spread across rolling terrain with elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. Several of the holes begin from elevated tees and it's likely you'll face more than one uphill battle. Trees and bunkers also come into play but the fairways are wide and forgiving. It's not an overly difficult golf course but beginners can also try the shorter and less challenging Butterfield Stage Course.

Chino creek

First time playing this course and it was quite fun. Nice tee boxes and fairways for the most part. All greens were in good condition. Will definitely play again.

Chino farmland

Right next to a water treatment plant, this golf course is infested with flies. the day we played it was raining but it didn’t stop the flies from swarming the cart and our clubs. Overhead on every other hole are large electrical towers with wires spanning the whole course. And as the rain fell you could hear the sizzling of the rain as it hit the power lines. The course greens were well kept as for the course as a whole I wouldn’t return to play here.

Good Improvements

Greens were in good shape, and fairways not to bad either. All though pace of play has to be addressed, if my group didn’t pass the one group in front of us it would’ve been a 5 hour round.

Good course

Chino Creek is very good course.

But cart path need to fix or need to be improved.

Too much dust and bumpy.

Also you need to clean golf carts with caution

Not a fan

Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience here.

Positive - Staff was friendly , course Layout and conditions were fair.

Negative- For starters , the first hole we had a guy calling out players to get in line from a load and annoying speaker. Personally , I thought it was too much.

Also, their were too many distractions. It’s the guy with the loudspeaker. It was the gunshots from the park next door and their players coming out to if we found some thing they might’ve lost in the middle of my swing. I was about to smash when all of a sudden some guys asking if I found a towel he dropped.

The worst distraction for me, was these crazy power poles directly above us. They were loud they were buzzing, and quite frankly they’re probably giving me a headache.

I had heard good things about this place, but I wouldn’t go back. It’s not for me.

Not Busy for Saturday

Went out first this morning. We were surprised that there were no golfers on the bac nine.

So we flew through and did the round in 2.5 hours. The conditions were really great and the weather was perfect. Thank you El Prado!

Fairways in nice shape

The course is still in very good shape. Fairways are pretty full with few bald spots- even after the extended heat wave. Rough is mostly consistent. Greens are good like they always are.

3.5 stars overall (Chino Creek)

I'll try and keep it simple.

1. Generally as a course 3.5 stars

2. Pace of play was excellent due to it not being busy. We finished in about 3 hours 45 min.

3. Course conditions were sub par compared to the courses around the area. Most tee boxes were fair. Most of the fairways were fair to good. All greens were fair. Greens rolled at about a 7-7.5. tall and thick. Understandable to protect them from the heat but still a bit too soft and slow. Greens should roll at least 9. Practice greens (8.5) did NOT match course greens.

4. Staff interaction was minimal and no cart girl.

5. I think the course was fun and would be excellent with better conditions.

6. Carts were poor. They did the job, but squeaky and loose steering wheel. Very harsh ride. I wouldn't trust a magnetic range finder to stay on.

I would only play here again when there is a hot deal. Full price rounds are not worth in my opinion unless course conditions improve. Currently it's a $45 or less value course.
