El Prado Golf Courses - Chino Creek
About
El Prado Golf Course in Chino offers two 18-hole courses, Chino creek and Butterfield Stage. Chino Creek is the longer of the two at 6,858 yards from the back tees. It is also considered more challenging but both are player friendly enough to appeal to all skill levels. As its name would imply, the Chino Creek runs along the entire length of the golf course. You find water in several different forms throughout the course including lakes and meandering streams. The layout is spread across rolling terrain with elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. Several of the holes begin from elevated tees and it's likely you'll face more than one uphill battle. Trees and bunkers also come into play but the fairways are wide and forgiving. It's not an overly difficult golf course but beginners can also try the shorter and less challenging Butterfield Stage Course.

Golfer Reviews
Course in Good Shape
We played at 6:43 the first time of the day. The starter was nice to allow my wife to play also.
It was NOT busy even though they were charging holiday rates. We finished in under 3 hours. There was one group ahead of us and one group behind. The group behind was very slow.
The greens were in really good shape.
Rude and lazy staff, absolutely insufferable
The guys at the pro shop are rude. Don’t greet you and just dog you on entrance. Did not feel welcome from the get go. Also, when I got my cart there was cigar ash in the center. When I asked to change my cart, they allowed and I ask the guy at the pro shop if he could change my cart number to the new cart assigned on the sign off form. He said “oh yeah sure” with the most unconvincing look. Lo and behold I didn’t believe he would do it, I go in 10min later to the pro shop and find my old cart number to my name on the sign off form. I scratch off the old cart number and put my new cart number 140. Just shows they have rude and lazy staff overall. Will be last visit as management has gone downhill.

Short winter day
Since I last played here, the flys are gone.
Golf play was ok. I joined 3 other senior golfers for a nice round.
The only down sides were 1: my cart 117 steering is badly worn. Cart had a mind of its own. 2: cart paths were broken concrete or pounded down dirt.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We apologize for the issues you experienced with the steering of the cart and the condition of the cart paths. We appreciate your feedback and will make sure to address these concerns.
IE gem
Over the years El Prado has gotten a whole lot better thanks to the course up keep! Staff is awesome, friendly and accommodating. I walk this course about 7 miles from the blues. Not a hard walk. Cart are decent and pace of play is good. Pro shop guys are great! Cart ladies are professional and courteous. Price is good to go! Go play prado and tell them Ted sent you.
Chino creek/Butterfield stage
Chino creek is great for distance and newer players. El prado has another 18 hole course called butterfield that is a little more challenging but el prado is a top favorite especially for price.

Course in nice shape.
Chino Creek is a nice layout. The course is fast with winter conditions- but greens are always above average.
Warning: if you haven’t played here recently- they just added real sand to the bunkers- which is a welcome site. But the sand is new- and very fluffy. Every shot into it results in a fried egg lie. Hopefully it packs down a bit over time.
Beware of frost
I have played both 18’s I like this course. The kitchen is one of my favorites, great eats at a fair price. Greg one of the marshals who may not be there anymore but was a great guy. My golf partner and I decided to go back to the place “ Prado” that we have played over A hundred rounds and lost our reservation due to frost? We got there early and had breakfast then proceeded to starter to pay up and was told that they were just starting to send golfers out, but you lost your tee time due to Frost. It was about 20 minutes until my tee time, but Art decided to send out all the golfers that were detained “earlier tee times” and they would all be sent out first??
Holiday Play
Course was crowded. Although the pace was average, we only got in nine holes when the Marshall came and said they were closing the back gate in twenty minutes, preventing us from playing holes 12-14. At that point, it was too crowded to play 15~18, thereby gypping us out of eight holes. Some paid for 18, but only got to play nine. I deserve a refund!
We apologize for the inconvenience you experienced during your round of golf. We appreciate your feedback and will take it into consideration as we strive to improve our customer experience. Thank you for sharing your concerns with us.
Nice Value Course
I hadn't played here in more than 5 years and remember it been a little rough around the edges. I was pleasantly surprised to see the course in good shape. The greens probably ran around a 9 and were pretty smooth. The fairways for the most part were in good shape with the occasional bare spot. The bunkers had more sand than I was used to, especially for a public course. Use your wedge with the most bounce or else you'll dig and hit your shot heavy. Pace of play was just under 5 hours - to be expected for the day before Thanksgiving. The pro shop staff was very nice and helpful. I look forward to coming back again.
