Green River Golf Club
About
The beauty of the Santa Ana Canyons surrounds Green River Golf Club in Corona. The club originally had two 18-hole courses but they have been combined to form one massive, sprawling golf course. Although it is surrounded by hills and valleys, the course itself is mostly flat, making it a good round for high handicappers. The fairways are wide and forgiving, making it even more player friendly for beginners. There are still many challenges in store on this golf course though, including a number of river and creek crossings and strategically placed bunkers. The Santa Ana winds that sweep across the course can often make reaching the greens in regulation quite tough and the abundant trees, while providing a scenic and secluded atmosphere, also add to Green River Golf Club's difficulty.

Bad greens
The greens are trashed. Most were half bare with some sand. Two fivesome in front of us super slow. Walked off after 15 couldn't take any more.
Dissapointed. Bring back the old Green River!!!
First, the course is in barely fair condition. Several fairways were being redone and almost unplayable. Two had half the fairway roped off. Most greens were in good shape but several had fungus and issues. Pace of play was very slow at 5 and a half hours. No course management and fivesomes were out there plodding away interspersed with tournaments. I miss the old green river with 27 holes. There was rhythm and continuity in the layout back then. Now there is none and the course is a hodgepodge. Many areas are hard pan and hardly playable. Definitely not worth the money. Many course areas are just not kept up or neglected like the dirt roads between holes with potholes etc. I was routing for Green River after not playing it for ten years but for $50 it's at least over priced by 40%. Still disappointed and I used to be a fan.
Course conditions
Fairways a disaster. Lumpy where grass present. Very dry and poorly maintained. Huge areas under repair with no apparent progress. Greens were decent but the physical management of the course conditions very poor
This course is fun to play
Nice course to play, the staff is very friendly and the course is always being kept up.
Fairway is not fair
Some of the fairways are not well maintained. Since the earlier flood on the course, the 10th and 11th fairways were re-planted but never maintained, leaving most of the areas bare with dirt only. Some other holes had similar problems.
A nice, relaxing round
Except for the pro-shop guy (this guy could have been a temp?) who apparently doesn't like his job, we enjoyed the course. Because of the cost, the course was almost empty, and we moved along at our own pace. The course was in fair shape and the greens well kept. A breeze made some of the holes interesting. The breakfast room, food and service were really nice and I'd recommend the course, if the prices were more in line with the area and course condition.
Course gone bad
We got a hot rate for $16.00 had played many years ago really looking forward to it. Major disappointment. Fairway lots of dirt no grass. Greens had major bald spot. It was a very hot day and the course has no place to get water. No cart person. Overall the $16 was way over priced. Very sad because I remember it being a nice course when they had 2 18's. . Very sad
A terrible golf course
Even at $30 this was not a value. The greens, well well-maintained, we're slow and unpredictable. The course is heavily under repair, many fairways not even playable. Don't waste your money.
Nothing green
I picked this course because of the good rate I recieved and was attracted by the name" Green River", in reality there is nothing green about this course and no river to be seen. This course was bone dry, aesthetically one of the ugliest landscaped courses in the I.E. I guess you get what you pay for.
The right course for the day
I was bringing out a pair of beginners. As such, the course had the right pace for our group. The group ahead of us was slow... if it weren't for the fact that we were slow ourselves. The fairways were wearing to dirt in a few places, but the rain helped soften them up enough so that it wasn't bad. I will play again, but only when I am not expecting a high performance group.
Save your money
Haven't played here for years.. course is in horrible conditions.. cart paths riddled with pit holes as well as animal holes all over the fairways.. extremely slow play.. left after 12 holes..
Good course
I always enjoy playing at Greenriver as it is a good course and not too expensive for a weekend round. Tee boxes aren't in the best shape, but you'll find a decent spot here and there. Fairways are in good shape, but some patches of dirt off the fairway in the rough. Bunkers are good with occasional low sand spots. Greens, over all very god for a muni course. If you fix divots on your line as there will likely be a few, your ball will roll true. If you haven't played here before, give it a try, you'll be surprised and I honestly prefer this course over near by Los Serranos and El Prado.
Hot spring afternoon
I was really surprised that it wasn't busier. There wasn't a wait when I walked into the pro shop to check in. My buddy and I didn't have enough time to warm up on the range. We were told that we were second up on the tee. We were given a golf cart that had seen better days. The seat had a burn mark and a tear in it. The steering on this thing was awful and I know why. The older cart paths were full of potholes. But, they did re-pave a few of them which was nice to see. I was really impressed with the condition of the greens. I was not thrilled with being stuck behind two slow groups which we finally decided to pass on the 13th tee. There was no marshall on the course. On this really hot day I was very surprised that I didn't see the beverage cart at least twice. I would definitely play again.
Great Value w/ Excellent Green Conditions
Green River is a terrific value for anyone in the OC not wanting to head out further into the Inland Empire, where most of SoCal's best golf values exist.
Somewhat of a no frills place, as the golf carts are about as basic as they get (no cooler, no GPS), but they're trying. A special in April 2017 has weekday rounds + a dozen ProV1's for $69 and for $79 on the weekends. If you conservatively place a dozen ProV1's at $40, then it's $29 to play with a cart weekday. How can you go wrong with that?
They did a great job of consolidating the two 18's down to a single course after all the river damage. Each hole has some risk reward, and although you can spray and still play, but shotmaking is still very much rewarded. Currently, the greens are in great shape and rolling true. The bunkers, however, although neatly groomed, are not much more than dusted blacktop, so should you find your way into one, consider punching out with your rock club.
I live just down the hill from Anaheim Hills Golf Course and would sit through 30 mins of traffic both ways (even though it's an 8 minute drive) to play Green River 10 tiimes out of 10 versus having to endure the nonsense of Anaheim Hills Golf Course's layout.
Green River is a pleasant round of golf...every time.
Fun day
We had a fun day even though only 16 holes were open. The other 2 are supposed to be open this coming weekend. Greens were nice, fairways were in pretty good shape. I'll be back.
